Hello and welcome to my website!

I am Misty Vixen (not my real name obviously), and I imagine that if you’re reading this, you want to know a bit more about me.

In the beginning (late 2014), I was an erotica author. I wrote about sex, specifically about human men banging hot inhuman women. Monster girls, alien ladies, paranormal babes. It was a lot of fun, but as the years went on, I realized that I was actually striving to be a harem author. This didn’t truly occur to me until late 2019-early 2020. Once the realization fully hit, I began doing research on what it meant to be a harem author. I’m kind of a slow learner, so it’s taken me a bit to figure it all out.

That being said, I’m now a harem author!

Just about everything I write nowadays is harem fiction: one man in loving, romantic, highly sexual relationships with several women. Nowadays, I tend to write more human on human stuff, but I still have a lot of non-human ladies in mind for the future, so if that’s your thing then stick around.

I’d say beyond writing harems, I tend to have themes that I always explore in my fiction, and they encompass things like trust, communication, respect, honesty, dealing with emotional problems in a mature way…basically I like writing about functional and healthy relationships. Not every relationship is perfect, but I don’t really do drama unless the story actually calls for it. In total honesty, I hate drama. I hate people lying to each other and I hate needless rom-com BS plots that could have been solved by two characters having a two minute conversation.

This is a tribal-survival fantasy novel series. Main character Jak, lost his memory, but slowly but surely regains his fighter and survival abilities. This novel series bases itself on physiological needs: food, sleep and reproduction. Mostly reproduction. The author centers this tribal age series on the sexual liaisons of Jak and his all female-retinue-harem.
Other than recovering his memory, and getting rid of all of the dangers where they live, this novel series does not have main or secondary plot arcs. It's like a journal style narration in first person (main character) of his actions, adventures and intercourses. It seems that around five species of humanoids live in this part of the forest. Most tribes maintain the tradition to exile the unwanted members of their tribes. Jak and the author makes a harem-retinue from the exiles of the other tribes.
Not much else. Feels like an anthropology or sociology field trip/ field case. Not that interesting or entertaining. Although it is written well and thought out. This series feels like it's not going anywhere. Or at least, the author does not know where this series is leading to. Maybe both Jak and the author lost their memories together and this is why the readers do not know where this story is heading...

Interesting, some violent fight scenes, a group of characters and situations that keep me reading, which I wasn't so sure about when I first started it. An entertaining read.

I’ve never felt more conflicted reading a book. The survival alien setting and plot interested me, and having read several RH I was keen to read a Harem… but the smut (which was most of the book) was honestly gross. Everything read of the male gaze with zero complexity. Our girls would orgasm with a slight flick of the bean and their big breasts were their only defining characteristic.

I’m interested enough to continue to book 2, but I’m really conflicted because I feel like the author doesn’t see their female characters as anything other than sex objects.

Pretty standard subject matter/general situation for the author, but better execution overall than some earlier stuff. No surprises from the blurb to sway your decision making about reading it, and it's a pretty quick read.

“Raw: A Primeval Harem” is the first audiobook available from Misty Vixen, an author who has been writing for seven - yes seven! - years. She’s been a prolific writer over the years - initially with erotica and now focused on haremlit. I've always wanted to read her work, but with so many audiobooks available I've never taken time to just sit and read. Turns out....I've really been missing out; her writing style is impressive - detailed and powerful. Clearly a talented, experienced author!

There are many Isekai books in haremlit where modern characters find themselves transported to another, often primitive, world where they must learn to survive. I can’t, though, offhand think of another audiobook where the MCs are native to the primitive world. Whenever I think of cavemen and sexy women, I always think of the 1986 movie “Clan of the Cave Bear”, with Darryl Hannah, and the 1966 film “One Million Years B.C.”, with Raquel Welch. Neither are great movies; the characters are non-verbal and brutish. Especially in “Clan of the Cave Bear”, the sex is as violent as the interaction between tribes.

My view of a “primeval harem” has been completely turned around by Misty Vixen. In “Raw”, she gives us primitive characters who are as intelligent and compassionate as they capable of using violence to protect themselves and those they love. Yes, love…these characters have complex emotions and each has their own well-developed personality.

This being a violent world, of course there are bad people (Tolvars) who want to kill them, and even giant monster spiders and wasps. The MCs and the interactions with Tolvars and the monster creatures are all interwoven very well. The author doesn’t just build a world, she invites us to live in it as we listen.

Oh…and listening to “Raw” is a joy. I’ve enjoyed the VA Katana Jones on many other audiobooks, but she gives her best performance yet with “Raw”. The publisher said she had a lot of fun narrating this book, and it come through with an A+ performance.

I would rank the audiobook “Raw” as one of my top 10 fantasy adventure audiobooks, based on enjoying the story (the characters and the writing quality), and the performance. To put this in perspective, I currently own 2,277 books on Audible, plus 102 on bookfunnel. In addition, I have access to 10 audiobooks per month via the US Public Library book lending system Hoopladigital.com, and I subscribe to Scribe.com for “unlimited audiobooks”. So, I think it’s fair to say I have listened to lots of different authors and narrators.

I truly wish I could rate “Raw” higher than 5*, but the Audible and goodreads systems only allow 5* as the highest rating. “Raw II” is currently in production, and I can’t wait to listen to it when it is published!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Receiving a review copy did not influence my rating or my review.

I had come across this series sometime over a year ago, when I was browsing harem novels and the like. I passed it over at that time, because the premise did not sound interesting to me. Recently, though, I came across a discussion about harem novels to check out, and this series received rather glowing praise from more than one person. Against my previous judgment, I decided to check it out. Turns out, my initial reaction was indeed correct: this was boring and uninteresting.

The protagonist, Jak, washes up on a strange and unfamiliar shore, with very convenient amnesia. Despite this, he is skilled in everything he sets out to do, and is infallible. He almost immediately crosses paths with a beautiful woman, whom he saves, and they basically instantly fall in love.
That's all this story is. Jak is perfect, he achieves everything he sets out to accomplish with little difficulty, and he gets to have a loving relationship with two women that love him unconditionally and everything is perfect. I was hoping that something would develop, because primitive caveman survival is not interesting enough on its own to carry a story. There's some mysterious hints at more going on, with magic and some kind of dark corruption, but that doesn't get expanded upon in the course of this particular entry. It's just bog standard caveman living all the way down.
One ridiculous thing about this is how they are primitive humans, who are so unadvanced, they're not even capable of metalworking. Yet, despite that, they are very articulate in their speaking. At one point, Jak even talks about concepts such as activating and turning off some sort of innate magical ability he has (those words are used almost verbatim). It's ridiculous. They are cavemen, but they talk and act like modern humans.
Even the sex scenes were boring, which is a cardinal sin for a harem novel. They constantly refer to it as "sharing intimacy," and it's all written in a stiff and passionless way. I don't really know how to explain it other than that. It manages to make sex boring, which is rather funny, I guess.

Anyways, it was boring. I don't plan to ever continue this series, unless I exhaust everything else first and have no other choice. Or some other reason compels me.

At my request I received a copy of this audiobook in order to give a fair and unbiased review.

Genre: Harem in stone ages with fantasy aspects.

Power dynamics in harem: The harem members follow the MC lead in everything he suggests. He seeks out their opinions.
Explicit/adult material: Explicit. Consensual. MF and FF.

Summary:
Jack wakes up on the beach. He doesn't remember anything except that he was exiled. He is on a strange island and works to rebuild his life, meeting some fascinating and beautiful women along the way who are also looking for a place to call home. Together they begin the work to build themselves a new home, tribe and life.

Narrators
Voice diversity: The voices are very well done and it is easy to recognize the character from the voice. The male voice somehow sounds male. I had to double check it wasn't dual narrated.
Pacing and intonation: Excellently done. The storytelling is immersive and alive.
Sex scenes: Very well done.
Katana Jones does a magnificent job. I think this is the best solo narration I have heard.
Overall: 5 / 5 stars.

The book’s strengths.
- The MC is likeable. Not a meathead ALPHA, but a kind person who happens to be attractive and a great fighter.
- The girls are interesting and from different cultures, I look forward to their characters growing deeper throughout the series.
- I like that the author holds back information from us to learn and has a in-book reason for it (MC powers aren't known due to amnesia and fear of cultural clash keeps the MC from asking into aspects of the girls lives (for now))
- Great narration

The book’s weaknesses.
- Nothing comes to mind. Maybe it could have been slightly longer? But the pacing worked well.

Overall: 4.5/5 stars
A great start to a series that points towards being as much about settling in and building a community as about surviving in a harsh world. And sex. Don't forget the sex.

Meh, uninspired in story, character, and setting 2 & 1/2 stars
This is a stone age harem book that claims to have magic & other races (elves, ect) but doesn't do anything with them. There are numerous sex scenes and a few of them have passion.
This book has two things going for it.
#1. It's NOT isekai or game-lit.
#2. the mystery of what the hell is going on is the compelling factor in the book.
Other than that This book is a flavorless retread of what you've read a hundred times before. The big bad hero man can kick anyone's ass and rock any woman's world despite his dramatically convenient amnesia.
I had suspected that this was going to be a rip off of Tamer: King of Dinosaurs. It is not. I doesn't try to be. It is very similar in many respects but these are two different stories in a prehistoric setting.
And prehistoric it is. There is no metal working, there is no cloth or textiles, they don't even seem to have developed the concept of built shelter like huts or a lean-to.
one confounding thing about this book is the writing. It's not exactly bad, wile amateurish but it sets a tone at odds with the setting. The author also struggles with the flow of time and especially distance. Things are close by and far away at the same time. The MC walks for hours? minutes? to get to the enemy camp, but later back home he can see their camp fires? The island seems flat as a savanna but there are waterfalls? There are caves but no hills?
I don't mind the modern language, and modern morality being transported back to the neolithic era, but these folks use a lot of big words for people who haven't invented sewing two animal skins together.

I love pretty much anything Misty Vixen writes, she's one of the best erotica authors writing today. Primeval is a niche genre of caveman fantasy, there have been others before and since, but MV can turn the most tired story tropes into gold. This one is very similar to the tv show Primal and I suspect that she wrote it closely following that idea, caveman humans existing in the same era as bronze age humans, elves, and megafauna. The MC is a Nameless One type with amnesia but a lot of remembered skills.

Despite what I said, plot and character are not MV's strong suit, and although these elements are stronger here than in others like her Desire novel series, her strength has always been primarily writing vivid sex scenes. So, if you are looking for a slow-burn romance with deep worldbuilding, this is not the novel you want. Similarly if you'd prefer tasteful fade to black smut, look elsewhere.

This is erotica at its best, and the plot and characters function at their best when they aren't insufferably irritating or offensive (i.e the vast majority of HaremLit).

Primitive setting, smell the testosterone

Fantasy monster girls magic harem adult situations
Amnesiac super warrior Jak washes ashore on a huge island, soon invoking his super power that allows him to run faster than a pack of wolves. Apparently, it can only be used in dire situations and takes a week or so to recover. Jak recalls he is an exile, and stumbles across first nubile Niri the redheaded elf and later, the darker-skinned Rylee the mage healer. Naturally, Jak shows both what they've been missing and how truly primitive their former tribes were to their women folk. Entertaining for what it is.

One ding for inappropriate use of ellipses; it is *not* used to begin dialogue. It also looks amateurish. And it really is being overused when a comma or a full stop would work perfectly fine.

Great Start

This is the first book of of Misty Vixen I’ve read and I have to say it was great! Already have the second one downloaded! The MC is not a wuss or hesitant to take the women who are obviously interested in him, which is a nice change from other authors works I’ve encountered. Some reviewers complained about the loss of memories and a “slow pace” in the first and second chapter but I did not find any fault with it. It was a nice beginning that caught flame quickly once events began to take off. The mystery behind Jak’s story is clearly intentional to be able to delve into in the future. Once again, enjoyed the first Raw book and I’m moving on to the next one!

3.5 stars?

It wasn't bad. It was straightforward, simple plot. Guy has amnesia, is an exile. Guy runs into hot exile women. Guy fights things trying to kill them. They spoke simply, very caveman-esque. Weird they would bust out random complex words like intimacies, though.
Overall was okay. Smut was average, very much a trying to survive feel. I might try another one. Editing was fair, with only a few mistakes. Better than the other book I tried from this author.

Tribe building, savage violence, and a harem of hot, primeval babes
Misty Vixen is one of my favorite harem authors. And the primeval setting is a wonderful change from her other great works (working through her post-apocalyptic A Warm Place series now). Although 'the warrior with amnesia' is not the strongest start, Misty more than makes up for it in the stone age world building with a magical twist. "RAW contains tribe building, savage violence, and a harem of hot, primeval babes," is an accurate description. And this makes it such a fun read. Good start for a series. Have already bought parts II and III.

Clearly this genre is not my thing.

Stone age tribal-formation harem fantasy. Jak wakes up on the short of a tropical island, beaten up and without memories. But he is a trained warrior and has emergency abilities that help him survive.

He starts setting up what he can and finds a friendly elf girl and then a friendly human girl with healing magic. He starts setting up his tribe and family, defeating enemies and violent creatures. And having splendid sex.

The dialog is rather stilted. The action is OK, but rather predictable levels of violence.

In short, not my cup of tea.

A interesting read

I really enjoy Misty vixen's stories it has a lot of meat to it and potatoes and not a bunch of fluff. There's good world building and I enjoy the characters and their personalities hope to see more of both. And the spicy scenes are well done and not over the top. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in the story to see what new challenges come are their way I really am looking forward to book number two.

great read

Have been reading this author for some time now and have seen the progression and confidence as she went from short stories to full length novels. And have to say that it is wonderful to see. This story exemplifies that earned confidence and continues to stay true to what she started with. The mature content is well written and enhances the story and yet doesn’t overshadow it. Best story so far and am excited to read more.

Abit more meat than usual.

And no that's not an innuendo. This novel has a some what more traditional proportion of plot to... "plot."

It's actually pretty decent and worth a read. The approach and tone of the story is a slightly different that usual fantasy stories but is close enough that I think most if not all fan's of the genre would enjoy it.

The whole thing has a sort of primitivist appeal with a splash of magic and fantasy.

Washed Up to an Unknown Life

Jak wakes up on a beach that he's washed up onto. He has little to no memory of who he is or how to survive, but the few memories he can gather help him to live. He saves an elf woman and they survive together in a very hostel environment. Eventually another woman needs saving and survives with them.
Eating, sex, and surviving is the only things to do.

The story took a long time to build and then it was over.

No memory but all the skills.

Waking on a beach normally a nice thing. No memory and strange visions not so nice a thing. Meet Jak and the life he can't remember and the life he wants to keep. With two lustful babes and maybe more to come. Harrowing adventure awaits you within the pages of Raw. Read at your own risk, highly recommend this new series.

Don't go into this expecting everything to be completely clear. There's quite a few mysteries surrounding the MC, but it makes for a journey of self-discovery. The sexy times are well done without overwhelming the story line. There's a good set up for the next in the series without leaving a major cliffhanger. Looking forward to seeing more.

Enjoyed this book more then I thought I would. I found it fairly well written with a pretty good storyline and believable characters. Nobody is overpowered and yet the MC has a power he hasn’t quite figured out. I liked it well enough to start following the author. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series

This is a Stone Age island survival story that is, I assume, titled after all the unprotected caveman sex. Not a lot of world building required for a primitive setting and all the dialogue seems intentionally awkward. Has a slow start but gets more intriguing around half way point as scope expands. Curious to read more.

This was a fantastic Primeval fantasy series. Despite having the amnesia troupe for the main character, his lack of knowledge actually serves him well in this situation. The main character seems to have grown a conscious after he experiences flashes of all the violence he once had to witness. He also comes across two very stunning females who are there to help him in more ways than one.

Something different

Think amnesia main charachter a hostile island hot babes fighting sex and magic, not the normal harem of op main character but a more realistic take on the genre.
Would i buy book 2 definitely.
