In this medical memoir, Hugh Cook tells of his experience with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the central nervous system - that is to say, cancer of the brain and spinal cord. In addition to the medical details, the book includes some experiences which provided a context for this experience, including the birth of the author's daughter. The book also includes some poems and a couple of short stories, clearly marked as such, one being very short, the other a little longer.
