Avalon survived her first year of Spearwood, but will she find the answers she seeks when she returns home?
Dragon-blooded Avalon returns home for the summer, but nothing is the same. Tensions run high with Jericho, and she discovers not everything at the orchard is as she left it. Master Hendricks has increased his visits, putting the workers under strain and her dad under scrutiny.
During her belated birthday celebration, new revelations from her dad open more questions that could put her in a dangerous position when she returns to Spearwood.
This review is included all parts of the second book.
Why do the characters have to be 16 and 17 years old? I really hated that.
Once again the book was slow going with a lot of information and predictability but the plot is good and it kept me entertained.
I was hoping to see more depth to the characters but it was kept the same. The information about the plot was also scarce, this book focused mainly in the school year but nothing that would really advance the plot.
I really wanted to see some change in the world Avalon lives in, I was hoping to see the females able to transform into dragons, some change in the social hierarchies and a more even hold of power but this being only two books out I think that would be overachieving a little.
This books focuses mostly in the plot and school task than in the relationships but this being a YA fantasy I guess that would be expected.
I agree Avalon was a hypocrite with Lusk and she treated him awfully without listening to his explanation so I was disappointed in that. Kearn was a second thought, there was more about Carmen than him. Bullock, Dante and Maverick were also forgotten and Padens flirting came out of nowhere.
Honestly all the MMC’s and relationships took the back burner and for me this book was developed shallowly.
Knowing now that this is an unfinished series I’m obviously going to drop this but I’m sad about that because I thought this had real potential.
I know these are short reads but this is very similar to book one, where absolutely nothing of importance happens in the middle. The only note worthy piece is at the end of the book in the cliff hanger and even that wasn’t great.
