The story starts with Helena, Francesca & Jennifer being arrested by FESA, tortured then being suddenly released. Helena is missing. Jennifer was told that they spread the rumor that she was the snitch. She & Francesca returned to Clayton & basically recruited a small militia team. Those who dare question Jennifer are treated to her temper tantrum. Others are gullible & willing to follow Jennifer who has no military training & runs on emotions. She is the worst choice as the militia leader. Ultimately all missions planned by Jennifer are doomed.
Jennifer’s character was very unlikeable. A self-centered, spoiled, emotional woman making decisions in which she had zero tactical experience. The book has a lot of stereotypes. Jennifer & Francesca think they are smarter than the men, there are hints of women’s lib mind-think and a lot of pride that is never dealt with from the Christian author’s perspective.
These are typical American Christians: naive & ignorant of the knowledge of how to apply the Bible to one’s life, but have all the negative characteristics of the world- pride, jealousy, and want all the recognition to lead the team. I find it really strange that for a Christian author, Mark never addresses Jennifer’s heart issues. It’s a huge failing in the book.
In the end, the mission failed due poor planning/tactical skills, pride and a mole. there were many deaths & people taken captive.
It was really hard to read this book due to the poor character development & ridiculous storyline. Including scriptures at the beginning of the chapter does not make a book spiritual especially when the characters aren’t godly.
I’ve read most of Mark Goodwin’s books, but was very disappointed with this book for the reasons previously listed. I’ve read many end of america books that are superior to this one, and would recommend checking these out instead.
The Jeff Kirkham dark autumn series;
Levoy Finicum, only by blood & suffering;
Jamie Lee Gray band of believers series & tribulation series;
The William Forstchen series (one second after, 1 year after, 5 years after);
The Millie Cooper series (Wyoming, Montana, & Dakota);
Jack Hunt after the world turns dark series

I loved the novel had scriptures for each chapter.
It was a bit heavy on people becoming preppers and prepping,
and joining a revolution, (but it is fiction)
( sort of...a lot could be and is today's news).
I think what was bothering me, more than those things,
was the fact, that our country is under God's judgment for a LOT of reasons.
However, our government is becoming fully authoritarian,
pushing medical tyranny, etc.
that is pretty much the way things are going.
It is clean ( no explicit sexual passages, no swearing etc.)
I understand some ( even Christians) think it is the only option for civilians to engage in full on para-military skirmishes with the government (that will result in many death).
However, Jesus did not gather an army to overtake the Romans...soooo
nevertheless, it was a well written novel.

Page turner
I could not put this book down. The characters had faith and conviction that they had to do something. We are living fictional book right here today. Those who believe the government is there to help us with hand outs and will be there if a crisis will not get by the first chapters of the first book. Sit back and see if they will help you. God says he helps those who help themselves first. Put forth some effort and responsibility. The people at top will save themselves before any of us. May God have mercy your soles.

The Ball is Rolling
Jennifer has made it home from Atlanta only to get arrested and tortured by the FESA. Suddenly she was driven back home but no word of Helen who was arrested with her. She needs to do something. Going to Lucas she asks for his help to stop the government. And the American Freedom Fighters is born. Unfortunately not all missions go as planned. Someone is a stool pigeon, 2 killed, others arrested. Fast moving, exciting, and I can't believe I have to wait until September for Book 3. Great job. Thank you.

Mark paints a good a picture, as usual. This one seemed a bit much with the characters going after tier 1 targets before really having much of any experience or training. To Mark's credite, however, it went about as you'd expect such a brash act to go... ugly. Jennifer is overly emotional for a leader figure, and her selfishness and impulsiveness make for a resistance leader I can't imagine a group of fighters being willing to follow, though. Nevertheless, it's still a good read.

Disappointed in this one
I've read most of Mark Goodwin's books and have enjoyed them immensely. However, this one is a huge disappointment!!! I kept waiting for something to happen and suddenly when I turned the page, it's the "Don't Panic" page and end of the book 😳. I gave it two stars because it was too short, unexciting, and my first disappointment in Mark Goodwin's books.

Mark Goodwin writes amazing books.
Book 2 continues the story of the government and Big Pharma push to do away with freedom. They are going for the global takeover which is end times for Churches and anyone who values freedom. A small resistance group can help to spark citizens to fight for their beliefs. Some like Cameron and others lose their lives but will be reunited with loved ones soon.

GOOD READ!
This series is proving to be quite involved. It is full of twists, turns, and political selfishness. Loyalty, friendships and relationships are tested. Grit and determination continue to prevail under extreme circumstances. The plot and layout is as real as possible. Highly recommend anything from this Author, Mark Goodwin!

I loved this book by Mark Goodwin. I also loved the characters. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of Mark’s books. I listened to this book on audiobook.

I Hate It When They End!
Wow! What a ride! The Resistance has legs now but it cost a great deal. But that is always the price of Freedom. It cost The Lord Jesus everything and God the Father paid with a broken heart! May The Holy Spirit lead us and guide us all in these last days!

I enjoy Mark Goodwin's books and have read a large portion of them. My only frustration is that aside from The Days of Noah and the Days of Elijah series they are all starting to blend together. A new fresh scenario with a sold plot twist would be a welcome change.

Kind of a cliff hanger
It is probably to be expected how this book would finish up. I was a little saddened At the ending. Since it is a novel not a true story I can think of several different ending that could still do the job of getting me to read book 3.

Superb Read!
A continuation of the first book, the government is in full authoritarian mode. Our freedoms are gone. The resistance forms and takes action, but casualties are a fact. No pointless sexual activity, no invincible character, and drawn from the headlines. A must read!

A Pound of Cure (American Wasteland Book 2).
This book was a good read. It was filled with action, and there was no obscenity. Mark Goodwin does a good job telling the tale of patriots in a world where complacency has taken individual rights and freedoms.

End Times
I've enjoyed this 2nd book in the American Wasteland series. End Times are right on the horizon. The key to surviving is knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Now on to book 3.

Great Series!

Captivating!
