Sersha had promised the Grand Hadri as he died, to take word to his spies and a warning of the raiders and their stryxex, and now she had arrived in the city of Briccatore with Mally as her sole companion. Mally was her cousin, and the ai'sletta, and as the day wore on it became obvious that unusual things were happening and that Mally was shifting the course of fate through her crown, the diadem of darkness. She also was her usual uncooperative self and let her loose tongue disclose their secrets. Furthermore the sun refused to set, so the day lingered and because of this Sersha found herself without her beloved Kazmerev, her phoenix. Without him she felt alone and totally voiceless especially as she was desperate to pass on the message of danger before the city was overcome by raiders and their stryxex. This episode is chock full of action, acts of heroism on the part of Sersha, as well as that of Judicus and Gundt as they leave her behind in order to face their Empire's enemies on the island. Poor Sersha is more alone than ever and pulled between two groups of people who surely wanted nothing good to come to her. I am so glad these episodes are released quickly as this episode leaves us on a cliffhanger of an ending and I cannot wait to see what happens next in this very thrilling series!
