Some of the greatest tales of adventure known are included in this collection, from the adrenalin-rich clipper race from Australia to the speed and heat of the battle of Midway. But the stories are not all about ships and sailors. Paul Aston has chosen stories which will appeal to all tastes, about exploration, submarine adventure, and also about the sea itself and the creatures that lurk beneath its surface. For many the sea is not an enemy but a source of life, but it has swallowed people and treasure. These stories tell of the people whose livelihoods depend on the sea, and also reveal where sunken treasure might lie and the lengths to which some will go to find it.
3 and a half stars. A book of stories set at sea, which have been fictionalised. Therefore, the word "True" in the title is slightly exaggerated! There were plenty of proofreading errors, but it was okay.
