Why It's Called Falling

Rate this book
Having written off men after being burned too many times, twenty-two-year-old Aspen Williams is ready to finish college and start living her life. She and her best friend head south of the border to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for their dream vacation. This vacation was to be all about sun, fun and girl time … or so she thought. A chance encounter puts her directly in the path of Hollywood’s hottest leading man, Ryan Lark. Hollywood stars shine brightly and Ryan Lark is no exception. He is an all-American boy wrapped up in a body made for sin with a face that defined beautiful masculinity. What you don’t see through the glare of the movie screen is a gentle and tender man whose heart and soul have been burned by the very same lights that made him who he is. In true Hollywood fashion, sparks fly between Aspen and Ryan. Even though she tries not to, Aspen falls fast and hard with hopes that Ryan feels the same way. But she learns the brutal truth of why it’s called falling in love. With more on the line than they both bargained for, will their final scene be a happily ever after?

Why It's Called Falling was a whirlwind romance. I would give this book a 3.5 stars. I do like this story it just didn't pull me in to where I truly fell in love with it. That would be the only reason I couldn't rate it higher. It did have a good story line and the author had great a writing style. This is told in dual POV's of Aspen and Ryan. It does have an HEA but not an easy one. I would definitely read more from this author and suggest this book to friends.

Aspen is on vacation in Mexico and is truly excited because she finally got her parents to agree to let her go. She is there with her best friend and they are set out to have a fantastic time sitting by pool and drinking and partying. What she didn't expect was to be trapped on an elevator with the famous movie star Ryan Lark. He was even more sexy in person and the one thing she realizes very fast is that he isn't arrogant like the tabloids made him out to be. When they start to make plans to hang out the chemistry between them will explode and neither will be able to not fall in love over there 2 weeks of paradise. But with love comes consequences and Aspen will find out that even though they love eachother sometimes it just isn't enough. She is simple college student and he is a movie star it would never work in the real world. Will there romance end in Mexico... Or will a twist of fate bring them together? Or will choice make it impossible for them to be together again?

Unfortunately, now I understand why it's called falling in love. One minute it felt like free falling into your own piece of heaven on earth, and the next minute you were crash landing from that same fall-- ASPEN

Ryan is the famous movie star and he finally gets a couple weeks off and decides to go to Mexico. He is there with his 2 best friends and they all plan to just lay low and have a great time.... maybe a hook up or two but nothing serious. But when Aspen comes out of no where and doesn't fawn all over him like most woman do, he gets intrigued and has to know more about her. When there chemistry explodes Ryan knows in his heart that he is falling for this girl..but he also knows that he has a career that needs to be top priority not a romance.. he has been there before and it nearly destroyed the woman he loved before and he refuses to bring another love into his crazy world. So he chooses to end things when they leave Mexico... but with twists and turns and maybe fate will he see her again? Will the secret she kept from him pull him closer or tear them apart?

"I don't think you understand how fucking awesome I think you are. No pretense. No bullshit. You make me believe that ever after might be possible and you do it without ever trying."-- RYAN

Can these 2 realize that even though they have separate lives that they can find a way to make it work? Or will too much time pass and too many secrets hold them back? YOU will need to one-click to find out!!!

Thanks for a good story and I do look forward to more from this author!

ARC provided in exchange for an honest review
3.5 meh stars
uhm.......
it sure is annoying when a book is has moments of brilliance and then so many clichés I am sad and disappointed. It would be like an awesome soufflé not followed by a moan or like naughty time without plenty of reasons to moan.......
Why It's Called Falling had good moments.
I really liked the main characters. They were likable and Aspen was super cute. Ryan was exactly what you expect from a movie star.......He reminded me A LOT of Ryan Christiansen from Tina Reber's Love Unscripted, Love unrehearsed books. However, I didn't hold it too much against him, because the similarities weren't great.
I also enjoyed the twist with Seth. I kinda sorta saw it coming, but it wasn't something that ticked me off.
What bothered me were the clichéd moments. Her naiveté was just freaking annoying, but I recognize that is just a personal preference.
The writing was sophomoric yet entertaining, if that make any sense at all.......if it doesn make sense, then now you have a clear picture of how I felt about this book. It feels like a meh, shrug and sigh.......If you are asking yourself, self Why in the world did she finish it if she wasn't crazy about it? great question BTW......1. I HAD to review it(BAHAHA). 2. It was decent enough that I didn't want to gauge my eyes out with a blunt object 3.I didn't roll my eyes too bad and it was light, fluffy and squishy....so, I finished it.
It was definitely the perfect book, to enjoy during the break.

Why it’s called falling by Leslie Stephens is a cute romance. If you want a HEA standalone then this is what you want.
Aspen Williams is in Mexico trying to enjoy her break before starting back her junior year at college. With her best friend Jillian by her side she is ready to live it up. Then fate steps in and she gets stuck in an elevator with one of Hollywood’s finest Ryan Lark.
Ryan is your all around American boy who just happens to be the hottest thing around. Ryan is in Mexico enjoying a break from the bright lights with his guy friends. Ryan is so sweet and polite nothing like what you would expect from a famous actor. You can tell her really wants Aspen and cares deeply for her. Together they go diving, clubbing, and even enjoy a little alone time. You will love how Ryan respects Aspen and appreciates her as a person. He is very attentive to her.
However, reality calls and things take a nose dive. Ryan and Aspen part ways. It really broke my heart for these two when they could no longer be together. They both have such a wonderful support system to help them through the break up.
The thing is nothing ever stays ended for long. Will they make or can they make it? A huge secret is kept and when it comes out what happens then? These are all the questions you will be left wondering.
