Four surprising, impactful, tear jerking cries!
“It’s not the bruises on the body that hurt. It is the wounds of the heart and the scars of the mind”... Aisha Mirza’s words beautifully define not only the inner fight of this book’s heroin, it also tells how all the victims feel after fighting against this heart wrenching, unfair traumatic experience !
Zoe is a warrior, survivor, phoenix rises from ashes, after four years of her rape, she is still trying to learn how to breath, join the social life, connect with people!
She prefers invisibility till she meets Tripp who sees her through her invisible wounds! He accepts her, gives her time, acts patiently because he cares deeply, falls compassionately, does not hesitate to show his feelings.
Their love story was so poignant, unique, heartwarming! Tripp steals your heart, even after you didn’t see it coming twist, he still fights for his love and atones the sins of the others to win Zoe’s heart back. He is an amazing, sweet, lovable, caring, genuine hero, all the women’s dream type of hero!
Zoe finally climbs down from the walls she builded around herself and starts to learn living instead of only existing with mostly with the help of Tripp and her book club members!
Tripp is the only one hears her silent screams! Tripp sees her wounded looks hiding behind her smiles and feels her inner demons’ defeating because he knows how strong Zoe is.
Zoe learns to carry her scars proudly, does not let them blemish her body and soul, she starts to see them as trophy after her big battle for survival!
I loved the approach of the writer to this delicate, traumatic experience. Her story telling is emotional, sincere but not over exaggerating or dramatic , depressing which is so effective and easily steal your heart and soul.
Tripp’s words are one of the best part summarizes his love and devotion:
“Like a diamond none of us unbreakable. Doesn’t mean we’re not strong. To get our core, to the beautiful ,shining being who we are, we need to be cut and polished. The process can be violent but outcome is exquisite. Just like you!”
Definitely the result is exquisite. I loved this book and I love to read more from this author !
