Special Agent Diana Sheen runs a secret agency… …locked squarely in the crosshairs of a magical conspiracy far greater than she’d imagined. The bad guys are seeking artifacts to increase their power, and it feels like they’re leading up to something big. Can she stop them in time? The attacks are getting personal. Other bureaus have taken heavy losses, and only her team’s magical abilities have kept them from the same fate. That includes a troll uncovering magical do-gooders or an acerbic Drow learning to use her magic. Everything is getting better, including their gear thanks to Kayleigh. But is better good enough? No way to tell, except by putting boot to tail. Magic or mundane, you hurt people in their town, and FAM is gonna bring you down. It’s all in a day’s work at the newest bureau of the Federal Agents of Magic. For a thrilling action-adventure with spells, guns, hand to hand combat, and just the right amount of snark, join the team today!
I’m TR Cameron, science fiction author. I’ve been an avid consumer of the genre since I was six, I think, when I broke the seal on my Dad’s copies of the Asimov Foundation books. It’s been all downhill since then.
I have a day job that I love most days, and writing is pretty much my only consistent hobby. When I find time that’s not already filled with my wife, my daughter, my writing, my work, or dodging the affections of our clowder of cats, you can find me playing video games (currently Dishonored 2 – I’m a little behind the times on this one), watching things (Marvel movies, American Gods, Agents of Shield, Justified, The Expanse, Gotham), playing board games, or, naturally, reading.
My favorite authors in Sci-Fi are David Weber, Jean Johnson, John Scalzi, CJ Cherryh, and the giants: Asimov, Pohl, Bear, Heinlein, etc. I read a lot in other genres too, and am a big fan of Matthew Woodring Stover, Michael Anderle, Jim Butcher, and I could go on and on and on. If I had to choose one favorite, though, it would be Stephen R. Donaldson, whose Thomas Covenant series was transformative for me.
Probably my pie-in-the-sky dream for my writing career is that someone would make a movie or television show of my books and I could be a part of the production. Sure, unlikely, but a clowder-dodger can dream, right? My more practical dream is that I can keep writing and both entertaining and connecting with my readers for years and years to come.

The gang is being hunted and that’s not going to work. In between tracking down artifacts, training and prancing each other,, the team work on staying alive and outwitting their foes while trying to see the bigger picture at play.
DNF at chapter 15. I was so bored reading the the same operations. And how many times can you misspell "marshal?" It's spelled correctly in the second book but constantly spelled wrong in this one. And why do you have to keep stating Cara is an ex-marshal. By this point, we get it and don't need it repeated over and over. There is not enough depth to the story to keep me interested at this point. I never got the back story of the Oriceran world which left me confused in book 1. I powered through but I still feel a bit lost in understanding what is going on, other than bad guys are trying to take over the world. A lot more back story to the world's and species would definitely help in understanding what is happening.
Book three is everything I hoped for, after reading the previous two.
There is a lot of character development happening here, and plenty of action, too which, I'm happy to say, doesn't always end with the good guys winning instantly but, instead, shows where improvements in the teams' skills will make things better, next time.
Because, of course, there HAS to be a next time!
Diana and her team are doing so well, despite being so short staffed but, in this book, they find themselves on the receiving end of a very determined full scale attack, by the Rememberers, who seem to keep coming back ever harder, whenever ARES Pittsburgh manages to stop them in their tracks!
Despite this, the team are doing everything they can to up their skills, to fight against everything bad that hits their City, and even Rath is training ever harder, in all three size iterations!
I'm so enjoying this series, and really love TR Cameron's take on the Oriceran story. I fell in love with Michael Anderle's many, and varied, works, a couple of years ago, and have now thoroughly enjoyed his partnership with Martha Carr,l on her Oriceran Universe, but their partnership with TR, has brought this series to a whole new level.
I always read the Authors' Notes, with every LMBPN book I read, but Martha's words, about how Michael has been so willing to share his time, space, energy, knowledge - and his world - with so many authors, is just one of the reasons that I started reading his stuff in the first place.
Every new author that Michael shares his world with, is one more author that has the same caring, sharing, spirit, as he does - and it's so obvious in all of their works, which is why so many of us readers keep coming back for more!
Talking of more, I'm now off to start reading book four of this series: 'Agents of Chaos', and so I'll catch you on the flip side, where I'll let you know what I thought of it!
This is book 3 in the Federal Agents of Magic Series by T.R. Cameron, Martha Carr, and Michael Anderle.
In this book, the enemy from another world is collecting artifacts and Agent Diana Sheen and her group are trying to stop them! Unfortunately, the enemy is stronger than Diana first thought. The other bureaus have taken heavy losses and only the Pittsburgh Unit with Diana and her agents have come out ahead, mainly due to their magical abilities.
Wrath or Rath, the troll is a delight! He is Diana's dear companion though he often acts on his own. He is learning as he goes along. With his dog companion, he goes fearlessly into battle. He is a loyal companion and friend to others. (He is my favorite character in the series). :)
Then there is the Drow Elf, (sorry I can't remember her name) who is teaching Diana to use all sorts of magic. She is a keeper also.
The fight scenes are terrific and very well-written but sometimes they do get tedious but not enough to stop me from reading the rest of the books in the series.
NOTE: I have read all 8 of the books in the series one right after the other and enjoyed all of them!
I usually just choose my stars and move on. I am a super fan of Michael Anderle and the authors he publishes through LMBPN publishing. This new series is just as good as all my other favorites. What has prompted me to write a review this time instead of immediately downloading the next book is Martha Carr's author notes. What a great tribute to MA and all the people in the background that make the LMBPN books so much better than the average Kindle Unlimited books. The editors alone do a better job than the editors of my last full price novel from a big Sci Fi publisher. I also greatly appreciate the speed at which you guys and gals churn these books out. As a +-200 books a year reader you have kept me entertained for at least a year and a half!
Good series, but characters powers on not developing fast enough for me.
I enjoyed this book, it was very fast-paced and interesting. I like the characters and the team that Diana is developing. The action is fast-paced and frenetic. The only thing I do not like is the fact that Diana is developing her powers very slowly. This is The third book in the series and Diana seems to only have one power force. I hope that she will develop her powers faster in upcoming books. Besides that I find the series very interesting and very fun to read. I think others will as well
Where do I even start!? This series is incredible! You are laughing one minute and on the edge of your seat the next. I love Rath with his dedication and humor. Diana's inner monologue will have you laughing. All of the characters are so well-rounded and developed, you actually worry one of them might be taken away. I cannot say enough good things about this series. Start with book 1 and catch up on some amazing adventure!
Yeah this was better. It felt more focussed. However as my tagline shows the language to me is not appropriate. I really don't think Diana and her team would use such childish language about tough adversaries. Rath is still the best character by a country mile. Liked the scene with call signs as I remember the A team fondly. I will read the next even though some bits annoy me.
Oriceran authors are masters of sucking you into a story and ending a book with promises of great adventures to come. Counter Ops has our heros under attack and it looks like the bad guys are ahead of the game. Of course that only means that we have more great stories to come. By the way, always read the author notes. It's a great way to get a glimpse of the authors life and even how they write a bit.
An unending flow of fascinating characters, deadly enemies, and pulse pounding action. I could not put down and cannot wait for the next book. Just an amazing story. I recommend you dive into this point in the series for a fun ride. Very well done TR. 😉
There is a lot of action adventure in this story. Time to add new faces who seem to fit well. Who is the bad politician? Want Diane to get stronger power wide and win a major battle.
Another awesome book in the Federal Agents of Magic series! Don't pass this series up! You'll just love Diana, Rath and the gang. I can't wait to see what happens in the next one! Keep churning out the awesome stories guys!
More team members, a troll that learn to imitate YTT, an elf in training, and a fanatic group with crazy ideas on how the world should be. Really explosive combination!
Most of the movie references are lost on me and are just noise in the story. For me, they don't accomplish what the author wants. If I ignore them, the story still works.
The pop quotes are a fun touch and add to the enjoyment of the books. The team is expanding, and the enemy is also increasing their game. Everything is more intense, and we’re left wanting to know what will happen next!
This is a must read series with supernatural agents of good against supernatural/bad evil followers. The scenes deliver plenty of action as well as a great storyline.
As with the preceeding books of this series, this one kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what was going to happen. Great characters and love the new ones that have been added to the other great ones. Cannot wait for the next one 😍
this is book three in the Federal Agents of Magic series and I found it a bit slower than the first 2 still funny and still a good read and I am looking forward to reading/listening to the rest of the 8 book series. Loving Wrath and Max and now Diana has fleshed out her core team fully good book.
Lots of action and bad guys are fighting back. Hard fought battles with the dark side but only semi wins. Going to take some heavy firepower to put this mess to bed!
