This is what happens when opposites attract... Everyone thought he was dead, but after surviving a brutal attack from one of his closest homies, there is only one thing on Dread's mind. Kill Flavio.
It's a simple mission and as Rey's Segundo, he's done hundreds just like it; but when his high school sweetheart unexpectedly bursts back into his life, all of his well-laid plans crash and burn. Or do they? 'Maurice' walked out of Abigail Steadman's life once and there's no way she's letting him out of her sight this time - even if that means inserting herself into his criminal mind. But will she remain unscathed or will iron sharpen iron? There is hope where there is love... And where there’s love, there’s a bond that absolutely nothing will break. ◆READER NOTE◆ Other books in the El Rey Series (Reinoso, La Reina, and La Familia) must have been read prior to tackling Dread. Otherwise, the story will make no sense.
STOP! You must read the the first three books in this series to understand the background and arc of the character of Dread. I love HIM!
Dread barely escapes an attempt on his life which lands him in the hospital where he’s unconsciously reunited with his first love and this time around she’s not going anywhere.
When she cries (a lot) her way into being his partner in crime to kill Flavio, I knew she would be an albatross (with uproariously funny moments) and she was—time and time again, especially when she wanted to take notes on what Dread needed her to do.
Add in an additional family member and they were a ragtag group of renegades? Again, this book is funny as hell and had me laughing out loud. Highly Recommend: Read It!
Dread is back and we have him!! My favorite Segundo is back and in full effect. Ms. Knight gives us Dread’s story and the dialogue and action pull us in and make us a part of the narrative! The action is overlapping from the last book in the series, La Famalia, so we get a take on the feelings of Dread and Abigail as they unfold in real time. Ms. Knight has done it again, she manages to make Dread both menacing and lovable at the same time, no mean feat. In order to fully understand Dread’s actions, it is best to read the three prior books; however, Dread, Abigail and Mari’s search for the elusive Flavio can be read without having all the background. El Rey makes a brief appearance in the story, but we only hear from Fallon tangentially. Oscar Rose also pops up (I would love to hear more from him in the future). Absolutely. Totally. Amazing. Story!

So happy that Dread got his story told👍🏽. His shocking reunion with his HS love did not end at the hospital. Abigail, despite their past wanted to care for Dread to full recovery even while he trying to put distance between them. He had a dangerous job to do and he didn’t want Abigail to get hurt🥰.
As the segundo he had every right to correct the the mess Flavio made while El Rey was imprisoned and personally deserved to take him out for putting him at deaths door🤬😤.
Seeing all the emotions Dread goes through while planning and executing the mission was interesting to see😰. He does have a soft side for the ones he love and wanting to protect them❤️. It was good to see how they all looked out for each other and oh that taxi driver was the cherry on top😜👍🏽
I’m so happy that Dread and Abigail got their second chance to be a family💕.
Stop! If you have NOT read El Reinso or La Reina, then you are missing THE WHOLE STORY. This book picks up with Dread getting to tell his story. Which in this case is like having to deal with your own.
This book is definitely worth reading AANNDD, explains so much.
And just like Dread, it took me a minute just to write this review. That and having to chase down my 6 year old autistic nephew down for my device, just so I CAN write just how awesome this book is.
I’m DEFINITELY going to wait by my laptop for the next episode.

Dread is awesome, dangerous and known as the boogie man. He sees his first love when he wakes up in the hospital. She is now a doctor. Flavio was Dread partner and tried to kill him and he almost succeeded. Dread is going to go after Flavio for his betrayal. Abigail claims she is going with Dread. She can’t be away from him. What if something happens. He has a really hard time letting her have her way. Dread has a soft side for those he loves. And he also finds out he has another son: with Abigail. Shocked, why didn’t she tell him before. So they all are going to go after Flavio, who has gone back to where he was born, Brazil. I really liked this story!!! Easy fun read!!!
ARC review: This is definitely a book of opposite attract. Although Rey still my favorite so far in the series this book wasn’t bad at all. I would of like to see more of Abi and Dread in HS to help understand their interest in each other and how that develop into them falling for each other. But other then that nice read.
Dread is the boogie man personified… Abi has her work cut out for her. Mini Dread, Mari is not too far following right in dad’s footsteps. Can’t wait to see how Navarro shaping him up.
I'm glad Dread got his own story. It was great to read about how he and Abi reconnected and him meeting his son. Dread handles business and I can't wait to read more about these characters. I highly recommend this read!
