Very weird, yet good. Creepy, too.

I don't usually go for horror. I wasn't aware this contained gruesome scenes. I wish Amazon had a better system that included genre & rating descriptors for digital books. I assumed this was another "crossing over" type story. However, even with the gore, I did already buy the 1st four volumes, so I'll see it through. The story is a little strange. I realize that the 1st volume or 2 of a series are mostly to introduce the characters & establish the setting(s). So I'm hoping for further character development to come. A shame about the younger sister. She was cute. Art, bizarre, yet very detailed. Quite good. A little overwhelming at times. Dialogue, a bit hard to follow, as we don't know the full picture yet. Characters, likeable & interesting.

One small spoiler is couldn’t the cat be spared and have the sister and cat share Alisons body instead of completly killing her off. Yayayaya the sister straight up died but come on the cute kitty too. Ugh. We shall see if it gets better tto make up for it

The Other Side of Secret is one of those stories that if judged by its cover alone will garner some readers and repel others. The reason for this is the overly, very in your face, sexy fan service picture of the main female protagonist. Despite this, even those for whom such fan service is a turn-off really ought to give the story a chance. I think they'll like it.

The story is a simple one. The main protagonist, Yuuto, lost his sister seven years earlier when she disappeared in a mysterious doorway and never returned. Throughout his life he has yearned to find out what happened to his beloved sister, and one day sees his chance. Suddenly, a similar vanishing doorway to the one his sister disappeared through materializes in front of him. Taking a chance, he eventually follows the people he saw exit the door back in... and everything goes to hell.

You see, as Yuuto eventually realizes, there was a reason his sister told him not to follow her. Without the proper conditions met upon entering the door, one is in deadly danger at the other end of the portal. Now others are dead because of his actions and he has to try to reverse what he's caused and save them.

The Other Side of Secret is a story that is much more complicated and imaginative than the overt fan-service my indicate. In a way it is like High School DxD in that the story not just has fan-service, but is one the has a rather impressive beginning and promises a great ride. In other words, the fan service is fun, but the story itself is also a great one.

I will say that the characterization wasn't that great other the main character, and even he'd wasn't that deeply delved into. The world building and fan service are good, but the characterization just wasn't all that impressive. Hopefully, in Volume 2 onward, the story become more impressive in this regard, and really make you care about the characters.

All that said I do think the fan service is much better than the credit given it by another reviewer, worse but I can understand that the drawings just don't have the same quality that those of DxD do.

Despite the above criticisms, it should be noted that this is the first of a four volume story, so maybe the characters will become more detailed in the future. I do recommend this story on the hope that this is true.

This was definitely better than I expected, and I find myself looking forward to the next volume. Yuuto is an understandable protagonist dealing with a bizarre and difficult situation, and as annoying as I found Saaya, she too is fairly understandable. Now if only I could tell if she was wearing a skirt or shorts...

If you like boobs the size of watermelons, this manga might be for you. Otherwise, the art is poor and the story nearly as bad. Unfortunately, for me, I have all three remaining volumes to plow through.
