Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project #4

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The Shinji Ikari Raising Project Volume 4

Despite the way "baka Shinji" makes them boil, Asuka didn't get her brains out of a gachapon machine, but from her mother, the brilliant but absent Dr. Kyoko Soryu. There could probably be less embarrassing places for a family reunion than at a drunken cherry- blossom-viewing party - but unfortunately, Asuka isn't picking the occasion!

Officially bowing out on this series... It's just manga rom-com by the numbers with NGE characters in the roles. I love NGE so much, and this is just so boringly generic. It has moments, but can't maintain. I legit kept getting annoyed and almost didn't even finish this volume... Trucked through and just glad I don't have to read the other 14 volumes.

I bought the wrong version of this manga. I meant to buy the 90s version. Oops oh well I still enjoyed it.

This manga has a lot of weird scenarios where male characters are repeatedly doing accidental face plants directly into women's crotches. There's also the accidental boob grope. There's also other impossible fan service moments like when Asuka is sitting on Shinji's shoulders in a pool and she tells him not to look up and he looks up and accidental peeps her body from an angle that is impossible from his perspective (as if her crotch is directly in his line of sight).

Asuka being a tsundere is also a repeated trope throughout the volume. Asuka is hostile to Shinji. She often calls him stupid (baka) and hits him but secretly harbors feelings for him (which others are observant of and tease her for it). The Manga is very Asuka-centric and focuses on Asuka's feelings and inner monologue meanwhile other characters often don't have an inner monologue at all. It seems like Asuka is the main character. It is more obvious in the manga than the anime that Asuka secretly likes Shinji.

There are also some other differences in the manga vs the anime (*spoiler*). Asuka's and Shinji's mothers are still alive whereas in the anime both are dead when Asuka and Shinji are still young. Rei calls Shinji's mother her Auntie which is interesting because it suggests Shinji and Rei are cousins or somehow related yet they continue to have sexual/romantic tension. Asuka often sees Rei as her romantic rival and often tries to compete with Rei to gain Shinji's attention.

Revenge of the Asuka

Neon Genesis Evangelion The Shinji Ikari Raising Project volume 4 continues to Eva's Rom Com with Asuka trying to make up lost ground to newcomer Rei Ayanami. Will she succeed or will Rei be best girl yet again? Gendo also keeps his chad status in this volume the fact that Gendo is one of the funniest characters is surprising. I know this is an alternative universe but this is still one of the funniest things. Dr. Soryu makes an appearance seeing Asuka's for the first time and she's not unit 002 is welcoming. Lets not forget Shinji the main protagonist who is following in his fathers footsteps in being a chad in the making assembling an all-star harem. The manga series is easily one of my favorites definitely for the fans.

More of the ordinary day-to-day relating between Asuka, Rei, and Shinji. Nothing too extraordinary, but I love Evangelion:-)

Creo que si este no es el peor spin-off que parió Eva es poque Iron Steel tenía dibujo más feo todavía.
