“You really look out for your people, huh?” “Sh*t, if I don’t, then who else will?”

Hussle was the blueprint and the standard when it came to looking out for his people and giving back to his community. If he could pour into you he did! Programs were created to help those in need and he had no problem paving the way for his people to live better. As he climbed the ladder, he carried as many people on his back that he could to make it to the top right along with him.

There was nothing or no one in his city that he didn’t know about so when his long time crush was let down yet again by her no good baby daddy, he had to swoop in yet again and save the day. In this Instance he was more than happy to do so and Yaya was reminded of her power by way of his love.

I absolutely loved this book!!! Grey has really been in her bag since day one and reading her older work has me falling deeper in love with her as an author. If there’s a story to tell, she gone tell it and do so masterfully! She pulled at every emotion with this one.

There were aspects of the story that reminded me of Luca but seeing as how he’s my favorite, I didn’t mind. It was touch and go for Hussle and Yaya but they finally got the HEA they deserved!

First off, I knew Jermaine was trash when he didn’t return with Yaya’s car. Had her and the baby walking to the bus stop in the rain. I loved Hussle from the being. He was a stand up guy and looked out for everyone. Yaya deserved a good man and I’m glad she let Hussle in her life. When I say I was heart broken when that dirty, no good, trifling ass, Jermaine attacked Yaya in front of their daughter. And when Hussle saw her like that. Whew. No one was safe from his wrath. He hurt so bad for her. And poor Jude. Jermaine can’t even be called a dad. He’s a monster. And the way I was mad and she told Hussle not to kill him. She had a good heart because ain’t no way what he did should slide. It was a roller coaster of a ride but it all worked out in the end.

Whewww...

Gotta get this off my chest before I give my review: I’m going to need Hussle to survive in book 2! Lawwwd!

Grey Huffington nails it again, but truly, I don’t expect anything less. I have not read anything by Grey that is subpar or just an okay read. She’s magnificent with her pen. And, she has this amazing ability to pace/balance a storyline. Sometimes authors leave out important information, or rush through novellas where the storyline disconnects from the characters. Not Grey, she can truly teach a class on how to write novellas...she’s just that good!

Storytelling is Grey’s GIFT and I’m glad she shares it with the world. I’m looking forward to book 2 and all other upcoming releases.

Kudos Grey Huffington!

Whew 😅

I knew I was setting myself up reading a book that was inspired by Ermias... My heart can’t take it! I hope Hussle’s life didn’t end before it could really start with Yale!!!! 💔 Death happens but I don’t want this to be the turn out for them. She barely got a chance to experience him. I loved Hussle’s character he was wise, intelligent and just what most communities need. I’m not sure if Yale would be able to take that pain. Great job Grey 💙

Hussle is the man

Urban drama at its finest. Grey told this story and some. I could feel this couple's spirit. Jermaine is going to regret his ill- conceived plan to get at Hussle and his lady... Smh at that fool. Come on Blue!

When Nipsey was murdered I recall a few authors/publishers on Facebook asking that authors not use his likeness in their books, not use his story, his name, etc. I agreed because I felt like every urban author would be jumping on it. Then I said "well this really is the urban book story....has been for decades" so, as an avid reader I wasn't too opposed to it. Now, as soon as I saw "Hussle" in this title my first thought was "i know damn well.....", but my curiosity got the best of me. I liked the poem in the beginning, but seeing the guys nickname actually being Hussle made me roll my eyes. I kept reading though. I wish his face tat, government name, and gang affiliation had been different. I mean I get the idea of wanting to base a character on a man such as Nipsey...........I just wish there had been more differences. I did like the different story line. Not a bad read.......

The Marathon Continues

Really GREY?! Not even a good ending. I just feel like my hearts been ripped out of me all over again. That was amazing and it also made me very sad. It sucks to lose good people because someone else’s hate. Poor Yaya. Will he be saved? I hope so.

I kept it at five stars because of how strong the story line was, but there were times I winced because of a few things that needed to be edited like “peace of mine” instead of “peace of mind”. But it didn’t take away from the elements of the story. Can’t wait to read book 2!

Just okay

Okay I’m not with this. I mean I kind of have mixed feelings about this. I really do. I get it you wanted to dedicate this to Nipsey Hussle’s life but this didn’t scream creativity to me. I honestly don’t like when authors do this. For that alone I’m just going to say that this was just an okay read. Im probably being a little hard but I love when I author is authentic and comes up with their own stories. It seems like a lot of authors go to Instagram or social media for their creativity and I for one am not here for it.

You cannot do me like that!! I'm in tears at work in my car over this!!

If this is the type of man that Nispey Hussle was, then the world, Lauren London and his loved ones were truly blessed. Every page of this book touched my soul!! A love like that from a man like that is nothing short of life changing and soul tingling!! Jermaine is a straight b***h for how he did Yaya and for the ending. I cannot wait for Bleu's story!! Hopefully my new book bae Hussle isnt actually in it!! I'm in so many emotions off this book!!

Great story, needs better editing

I love Grey’s stories. I’ve read all. Being a product of south Los Angeles, where Nipsey is from, I loved reading this and catching the similarities to story. I can’t wait for the following books in the story. One issue I have found countless times is the editing errors. If that can be fixed, this would be a five star review. I rounded it up to four stars.

Very sad

This story was particularly sad! Because before I got to the end I knew he was going to die! It was like reliving Nipseys death over and I didn’t enjoy that one bit! I love your books grey but this one I didn’t particularly enjoy, it’s like having it all and then it is suddenly taken in one go. I will however look forward to read Bleu’s story and how he deals with he’s mother illness etc

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

This book has me so in my feelings. I know that Nipsey passed away and that Hussle was portrayed as him but I STILL wanted him to live. Just when Yaya and Jude had a real man in their lives, he was taken away from them. I hope Bleu don't show Jermaine any mercy and I hope Yaya ends up pregnant with Hussle's baby. I'm saddened by the outcome but I can't wait for the next book to drop.

Best one yet!

This is the best story I've read from Grey Huffington thus far. It's not only a beautiful fairytale from the hood...but it also displays her enormous growth as a writer, when compared with a lot of her earlier releases. Truly enjoyable, and although there were melancholy moments and sadness, based on the inspiration for this piece, it was a very worthwhile tribute. Can't wait for book2!

This book was good. To be honest I read almost every book the author has written and she didn't disappoint. Hussle was a great character in the way he nurtured and tried to uplift the community and people. Yaya was so sweet and innocent and deserved better than Jeremiah. I'm glad Hussle went and helped Yaya which started everything. But I need to know what's next after what happened in the last chapter.

I haven't come across a book by Grey Huffington that I haven't LOVED

A man who knows what he wants! I fell asleep reading and rolled over in the middle of the night to finish it. The book was great and I'm anxious for part 2!, I needed it like yesterday lol there's no way Grey can kill Hussle and we're all still mourning Nipsey, so I'm keeping hope alive that he will survive.

No! No! No!

My heart cannot take this. Hussle was a real man who loved his community and went out of his way to make sure that everyone was okay. I really want to see him, Yaya and Jude make it together as a family. Jermaine was a dog and no good little boy who should have been taken out in the beginning. I can’t wait to read book two. Great job as always Grey!!

Hussle Love

Yet another great book. Loved the poem for Nipsey! You couldn't do anything but love Hussle. He was all man and looking out for his community. Yaya went through it with Jermaine trying to keep a father in Jude's life. He is nothing but a punk that couldn't stand up to a grown man. I hope all is well with Hussle. Can't wait for more.

Love & Power

I just know it's not going to end like that. We just got a taste of Hussle again and you're trying to take him from us, don't be like that. All I know is Jermaine better get it. I have a feeling Bleu is about to do damage and can't wait to read more about him. Yaya is a stand up woman and I was glad that Hussle came into her life. Can't wait for book 2

Absolutely devastated 😩

The ending killed me 😞 I hate Jermaine man it’s really always a hating ass nigga 😤 I loved how from day one Yale and Hussle became inseparable. I’m happy they at least gave themselves the chance to explore their love for each other I’m just sad it was over before it ever really started 😩 I will definitely be reading Book #2!

A great love story

I just finished reading this great love story. It felt like every scene was drawn from real life, which made it so relatable. The characters felt so real, and I found myself invested in their journeys. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys stories that touch your heart.
