Another re-read I can't help it I love this book so hard!
5 Safe Harbor Stars

I do on occasion read PAPERBACKS…
OMG, I know what a shocker.

This is probably my most memorable read by this author. Did I read it back in 2015? I believe I did and it has been one of those books that just pop’s into your head from time to time.

Well, I got the paperback for Christmas this past year and well this week it just called to me.

It’s an MMF book if you don’t know what that means,
Male ON Male ON Female.
It is also a BDSM book – Mater/slave

Clarisse for me has always struck me as strong but weak because of her circumstances. Even in the very beginning, I thought she had some brass balls. Yep, I said it. She cried quite a bit in this book but understanding her situation it’s really no wonder. I was kind of surprised she wasn’t more of a basket case.

Mac is a likable character, and I always had a bit of a crush on him. I like that he is so open and honest with himself and with Sully. I think I liked that he truly wanted what he has and never is jealous or scared it is going to go away. Even when Clarisse came into their lives, he didn’t feel threatened; it was as if he knew she was mean for them.

Sully is and will probably always be my all-time favorite DOM. I can’t say what it is that I liked best about him or even what it is he does that just hits my heart. But I do love that he knows his slave and his pet well. He really took the time to be what they needed. And they too do the same for Sully.
I love that honesty is a house RULE. After all that these characters have gone through I think I like that rule best of all.

And we have to talk about the dog, Bart stole the show I swear it. I could see this wiggling mess of tiny dog stealing things!! DOM Dog, which cracked me up to no end. I had tears over that.

Even reading my review over, I can’t say enough good things about this book. How they all come together, how they all have to learn trust. Going from 2 to 3 isn’t easy and then you add everyone’s pasts. It’s an intense read to be sure.

This might have been my second read through it won’t be my last. And if it does come to the audio I hope they have 3 narrators that fit these fantastic characters just so.

Absolutely one of my favorite m/m/f books ever! There was so much depth to the story and characters. Mac and Sully were an incredible pair and what a dynamic relationship - wow! I've read plenty of D/s books because I happen to love that genre, but this one had some very unique elements - in particular, the combination of the 24/7 nature of the relationship with the formal use of the names "Master" and "slave" (along with "Sir" and "pet/girl"). There were some more hard core BDSM elements in the book because Mac really got off on pain. That didn't bother me (in fact, quite the opposite:), but the name formality took some getting used to (and really just the "slave" portion of it).

The whole emotional transformation of Clarisse was very well done and seemed so realistic and believable. Her place in the threesome felt "just right" once it came about vs. seeming like a 3rd wheel. I really really liked that Mac and Sully were true to each other first and foremost, but that they had room in their relationship for Clarisse on equal footing without it jeopardizing their strong bond.

My emotions ran strong while reading this one. I laughed (Dom dog was hilarious) and cried, felt fear and happiness. I love when a book can evoke these types of feelings and this one definitely did that plus had so much more!! It was truly awesome and I would highly recommend it! The title of the book absolutely captures the essence of the story. Great job!

Always meant to read this book, so because it was a BOM this month, I indulged. I've enjoyed previous books (Love Slave for Two, Love at First Bight etc), and not-so-much liked others (Triple the Trouble series) so I was a little hesitant about Safe Harbour.

Needn't have worried of course !! This was a brilliant menage, with each of the MC's having their own quirks and characteristics, and they gelled together really well. I thought Clarisse may have turned into a TSTL heroine, what with all she went through (ghastly !!), but she grew in strength and became better for it. Mac is a lovely, kind, compassionate sub (OK, when he's not following 'boat rules'), and I loved his sense of humour.

Sully did it for me though. My, my what a complete Alpha Dom! (Can I take him home, please?) He is the total template of what a Dom should be: strong, ruthless, hard, considerate, patient, loving, consistent, and honourable. He can even cry ! :)

A really lovely book, well worth reading

This was one of my first BDSM books and definitely my first erotica with a homosexual aspect to it. Overall, I thought the writing was pretty good! I really got into the story and had empathy and sympathy for the characters. I'm not for sure that the relationship between Mac and Clarisse was fully fleshed out (pardon the pun!). I feel like one minute, she sees him and Sully having sex and then the next minute, she thinks she's in love with Mac. Maybe my Kindle had a glitch and I missed something but I just didn't get the connection between them. Which isn't good because Clarisse and Sully's relationship develops from Clarisse and Mac's. Having said that, I really enjoyed the book. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the M/M sex scenes. It didn't do anything for me but I wasn't grossed out or anything. But I sure felt naughty reading them!! LOL!! I didn't feel like this book was TOO crazy or anything. The BDSM was pretty mild, in my uneducated opinion - I haven't read a whole lot of Erotica or BDSM books so I don't have a lot to compare this to.

It had a little action in it - other than the sex kind of action!! - and some sad parts, some funny stuff as well. I think this is a very well rounded book and I THINK this might be a pretty good choice for someone checking out BDSM books and/or homosexual sex-type books.

I only gave 3 stars because although I enjoyed the book and liked it very much, it just didn't grab me and slam me against the wall with excitement and passion. This was a good read. Certainly worthy of a SummerTime Beach Read! Enjoy! :)

Having recently inhaled my first Tymber Dalton book, I knew I'd have to take a look at her backlist, and, knowing me, probably inhale that, also. It didn't take me long after starting 'Safe Harbor' to realize that this was going to be a fantastic book, and the author was going to take it into a direction I wasn't expecting from the blurb I read.

It was no surprise, to me, that Clarisse brought out all of Sully and Mac's protective instincts. She brought out mine, and made my heart hurt for all the people, men and women, in the world who survive an abusive relationship. Clarisse's is even worse, because her ex, Bryan, is a cop, and in his Ohio city, the boys in blue stick together, no matter what. Clarisse files charges against him, puts her things in storage, and heads south to Florida and her uncle's fishing trawler, a boat she practically grew up on, and where she feels safe. Instead of her uncle, though, she finds Sully and Mac, two men who are partners, lovers, and friends, and they live an unusual lifestyle that works for them.

I'm sure, if you're anything like me, and you've read books similar to this one, based on the description, you'd expect the story to go in a certain way. Well, I'm discovering that this author doesn't do anything the "regular" way. Sully and Mac are totally unexpected men, and I'd love nothing more than to find them for myself. Each of them has a background history that's a little too close to Clarisse's situation, which leaves them emotionally invested. They have a Master/slave relationship, and are involved in sadomasochism, with Sully being the sadist, and Mac the masochist. For obvious reasons, their private life is their own, but with Clarisse now living with them, they had to inform her of it.

Here is where many authors might've taken the easy route, and quickly had Clarisse joining in with Sully and Mac, and everything moving along all hunky-dory. However, this author took it down the road less traveled. Nothing between these three happened quickly, and nothing was easy. Clarisse asked a lot of questions, particularly of Mac, trying to understand his submission, and how he could be happy to be Sully's slave. Even a month after living with them and getting to know them, Clarisse was still nervous around Sully simply because he was a cop. And, when Sully and Mac bring up a polyamorous relationship with Clarisse, including the fact they both love her, Sully makes it very plain that there would be no sex between them until Clarisse trusted him, loved him, and married him. Definitely not your run of the mill plot, huh?

Wow! Beyond real, how much I loved this book. This is now my second book by the author, and, again, I'm stunned by her writing and her storytelling. There was some predictability, in terms of Clarisse's ex, but even there, the author did a great job with the excitement. An excellent read that I can so easily recommend. In fact, I vote it as a must-read.

After I finished this book, I really wanted to write a long, full review, but I just never got a chance to. And now that it's a month later I don't remember enough details to do my typical type of review, but I still wanted to write what a could.

Summary:
Clarisse is on the run from her abusive ex. She believes he intends to kill her so she embarks on a cross-country trip to the one place she may be safe: her uncle's fishing boat. She arrives, falls asleep, and when she wakes up, she finds to strange men having sex on the deck.

What Clarisse didn't know was that her uncle had sold the boat to Brant and Sully. When the two find Clarisse on their boat, they soon realize she's a woman on the run and with the physical and emotional scars to prove it. They offer her refuge, with a warning that they don't lead a typical life.

Brant and Sully are involved in a full-fledged Dominance/submissive lifestyle. And they don't intend to shield Clarisse from the way they live. Clarisse is baffled, confused...and if honest, a bit turned on by what she learns about these two men. But she's got a lot of healing to do before she could consider letting herself get involved with these two intriguing men.

Review:
This was such a fascinating book. There are a lot of erotic romances out there these days that involve Dominance/submission themes, but they tend to stick to D/s in the bedroom. This story isn't like that. It's about a full D/s lifestyle, initially between to male lovers, then adding in a woman who becomes another sub in the relationship.

I admit that lifestyle D/s stories don't tend to appeal to me, especially when it involves a male being totally submissive. It's hot in the bedroom, but as a daily life thing? I personally can't imagine living like that. But I thought author Tymber Dalton did an excellent job in this book giving an outsider some insight into this type of relationship. I was completely fascinated as I read this story.

Sure I don't quite get why someone would want to live a D/s lifestyle, but it was interesting to read and showed me what others may get out of it. There is definitely romance in the book, but I wouldn't say it's the focus or an overly romantic story. This book is all about the D/s relationship, how it builds, changes, grows, the whys, the hows. There's also a strong S&M element with the submissive male craving moderately serious pain. Baffling to imagine for an outsider, but Dalton really shows you why he craves it.

I was just so impressed with this story. It's stuck with me since I read it. It's not one you want to read if you just looking for a hot erotic romance or just a bi-menage story. But if you open-minded and want to read a D/s lifestyle story then this is one that you should definitely read. It's well worth it.

(and okay, that was longer than I planned to write...)

This was more of a 3.5 for me. Though the story was enjoyable I just could not get into the characters. So much of their interaction felt forced. I loved the two male characters together but throwing Clarisse in didn't work for me at first for a few reasons. One thing is that she was so irrationally against Sully for no valid reason and was childish for way too long which pissed me off. She falls for Mac instantly and it felt like she just wanted to come between them but realized she couldn't have one without the other so she forced herself to care for Sully. I feel like she just did it to have Mac not because she fell on her own. And the guys...they fell in love with her so quick. I saw absolutely no personality in her up to that point. She was just scared and crying all the time, which can be expected...but come on give me some substance on WHY you even care about her. Why she's so special. They offered none.

The story line was kind of predictable if a little unrealistic. The ending was pretty far fetched for me which didn't really mix with the believable lifestyle the whole book had painted. I will say that in the last third of the book I enjoyed all three characters interactions together. It felt much better than the beginning or middle.

Another great read from TD. Her books seem to have the perfect story to sex ratio for me. Plus, I'm a sucker for characters with real life issues. (Lol) I love the way BDSM is portrayed in this one. A lot of the BDSM I read (not all) either has wrong facts or everything 100% perfect like there's a rule book you must follow. Which isn't the case, everyone lives or plays it differently. This story is a great example of that. The way these three practice BDSM reminds me of how I see it done amongst my friends. Which is, they do it in whatever way makes them happy and meets their needs. It's nice to come across characters you can relate to. :)
BDSM aside, its a great storline as well. All three of the leads have common and serious RL issues they've had to deal with. SH is a little bit suspenseful, romantic, and at times even funny. And for those of you wondering about sex...it's great, of course! Not a dull moment even once! :)

Hmmm. First things first, I like Tymber Dalton's stories. She writes some really hot, smexy scenes. Her characters are endearing. I am sometimes a little irked with the female character (if there is one) and this book was no different. But all in all, Clarisse wasn't bad. I enjoyed both Mac's and Sully's characters. And, I liked that Mac and Sully's relationship didn't take a back seat to Clarisse.

The book's ending was pretty intense (

Bottom line: Steamy, smexy, m/m/f with a not-too-irritating heroine.

Safe harbor

Update Aug 2017 3rd read this year - there is just something about this book that I love. I think its all that she has to go through. To me, she id by far one of the strongest woman I have ever read in a story, even though she has gone though so much.

So I just got done reading this for a second time. There is just something about these three that I fell in love with. I think it might have been the way all of them ended up getting together. The unlikely hood of mac and sul and how they began and then when Clarisse came in. It was all very moving.

They really truly all loved each other and really wanted to protect her. There is just something about this book that makes me keep coming back for more. It's a true book hangover. I wish there was more to these three. I'd love to find out how they are doing.

3.5 stars!

Although BDSM definitely isn't my thing, I did enjoy this book!

The only thing that bugged me was how I felt that Clarisse was no doubt second best to both H's. I know they were in a relationship before her and everything, but when you have the third person I feel everything should be equal. Some of the things the guys would say to each other and to the h made me feel there wasn't total equality in the relationship. Such as them always reassuring her that they were together first and they would always come first.

I also didn't like how sully "helped" with other couples play. And I didn't like how it was so easily handled, very anticlimactic. I feel like with the way the h was acting over it , there could've been a better way for them to address sully not helping anymore. Also the very end of the epilogue ended with just Sully and Mac together while Clarisse was off doing something. That really ticked me off because it leads back to the feeling of no equality.

Anyways.........besides that I really enjoyed it and would probably recommend this to you for a rainy day :)

As usual, TD does a great job in her storytelling abilities. This story almost had a little bit of a Love Slave for Two flavor to it. Two men, already partners, falling for the female, saving her and including her in their lives. These two men were wonderful and very loving. The big difference to me was that in LSF2 the men were totally focused on Nevvie. She is the center of their world. This story seemed to really nail home how devoted these men were to each other. Clarisse seemed to be the "3rd" in the relationship; their compliment. The "safe harbor" expression was in reference to the men, it seemed. And Mac's need for extreme bdsm structure in his life, his need for extreme pain sometimes, was tough to read but also reminded me of Leah in the Reluctant Dom. When there have been traumatic experiences in one's life, they sometimes need a special outlet to process their feelings. So it was very powerful and poignant. I enjoyed it very much. Some interesting ingredients in there but, as always, TD holds us captive with her words. I cried and laughed as well.

...well done.

Wow! This is a steamy little number...

This story contains a few things that fall under the 'not my kink' umbrella - The Master/slave dynamic and being into or needing pain, but the way it was written, I could relate to it more than I have probably ever been able to relate in other books containing the same themes.

I really appreciated the development of the relationships between Mac, Sully and Clarisse. This is a book about menage, so if that's not your kink, well...why not? Lol!

I thought it was a well written, emotional, sexy story. The sex was really hot and the relationships were steamy and at the same time sweet and cuddly.

There's some suspense and drama with Bryan's character (he's a total douche, BTW) and I loved the way the little 'problem' with him was resolved!

I will definitely read the next in this series, even though they are a little pricey for my budget.

Really Great, Sexy Read!!!!!

This was just an OK read for me...I felt like I was reading Love Slave for Two again. I found the plots way too similar.

Clarissa gets taken in by Mac and Sully after her boyfriend beats the crap out of her. They take care of her and convince he to stay with them. Clarissa is a wreck and it takes her a while to trust her new friends. Her multiple emotional outbursts didn't really ring true to me. I also struggled to feel a real connection between these 3. It just seemed forced and choppy. The whole master slave thing also got on my nerves after a while.

Not my favorite from Dalton and will probably not be a re-read. I liked the story ok. The characters were not annoying, but I also didnt take to any of them either. I didnt mind the predictable-ness of it either, it just fell flat for some reason. Even with the characters highly emotional back stories it still did not pull me in that much. I always love menage. So naturally, I had no problems with the sex scenes. They were hot as always but not her best work.

Amazing. Loved every second of it! I laughed, cried, and smiled. What a journey. The characters were so rich and well drawn I just got them completely. Sully and Mac are a masterpiece - I was just like Clarisse with hurry up already! The sex is smoking hot but the love that binds is even stronger. VERY highly recommended!

I've recently re-read Safe Harbor by Tymber Dalton as I thought I would post reviews of some of my favourite books. Safe Harbor is book one of Ms Dalton's fabulous Suncoast Society and is a big favourite of mine. This was the first book I had read by Tymber Dalton and I have since become addicted to her smouldering tales of love, domination and submission. I love M/M/F dynamics, especially if combined with BDSM elements, and this is one of the best M/M/F books I've read.

We first meet Clarisse when she is fleeing from her abusive ex-boyfriend. I immediately liked Clarisse and felt for her after her horrific ordeal. Mac and Sully are both fantastic characters - playful, fun Mac is a perfect partner for brooding ex-cop Sully. Sully is still one of my favourite characters from the Suncoast Society series (along with Tilly from book two), and I love it when he, Mac and Clarisse pop up in other books in the series. Mac and Sully have a strong relationship, built upon a 24/7 Master/slave dynamic. Both men fall for Clarisse but she struggles to come to terms with the BDSM elements in their relationship, and she has to learn to trust former cop Sully.

There is alot of suspense and danger in this book, that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I don't want to say to much about this as I don't want to give the plot away, but it really is a roller coaster ride. Safe Harbor is a emotional tale that had me weeping buckets at times, I connected so strongly with all three main characters that I felt all of their triumphs and pain.

Some of the BDSM scenes is this book are quite heavy as Mac is a masochist - personally I enjoy reading the heavier scenes but it may be a little strong for some. Everything is done in a safe, sane and consensual way of course, and Sully is much gentler with Clarisse than he is with Mac. The scenes are well written and very believable - Tymber Dalton portrays BDSM very realistically, she really is one of the best authors in this genre.

I highly recommend this book, it is absolutely fantastic. Safe Harbor is definitely worth five out of five stars!

This story is mainly about the everyday life within the BDSM lifestyle. It comes off as very normal, very natural, and psychologically valid. More than about sex, this story is actually about the dynamic between the three main characters. Clarisse is a woman brutalized by her ex, and ends up hiding on a boat she assumed still belonged to a relative. But in fact the boat has new owners. Sully is the Master, Mac is the slave, and they are very deeply in love with each other, each one with different needs. As the protective streak of these two men kicks in, Clarisse becomes ingrained into their life, and through submission she finds her strength.

This is a very long book, and it takes a long time to develop. I liked the fact that I really got to know these three, more out of bed than in. Not that they are specifically in bed a lot, as they play elsewhere too, even in public. Sully and Mac live in an established relationship, only gay with each other due to past events. Clarisse brings in a new aspect, one that has a calming effect on both men. Without realizing it, they had always sought her to fulfill their relationship triangle.

I had to drop one star for two reasons. The first is entirely my own fault, since neither MF nor BDSM are my preferred genres, so in that respect the story didn't really light me up. The second reason is that there's a bit of repetition in the book. They talk a lot about the BDSM lifestyle and about Clarisse's reactions. At some point I actually said to myself "get on with already, I've heard this".

But that is a minor detail. The characters come off very real, and the new relationship configuration just makes sense in regards to their personalities. I liked that a lot. The length of the book allowed for this natural flow, a realistic touch to it, and I can definitely see that the author knows what she's talking about. I recommend this book.

I had Safe Harbor in my TBR pile for too long, thank goodness I got around to reading it because it's a terrific BDSM/menage read.

I really loved the 3 MC's, but particularly Sully and Mac, they were so good together. Clarisse took a while to come around and to get into the loving aspect of their relationship which, given her background, was perfectly written. When they finally got together as a threesome it was smooth sailing (pardon the pun).

Really lovable characters - check, well developed plot - check, good man lovin' as well as a menage lovin' - check, nice female lead that gets courage and becomes a stronger person - check, bad ex - check, cute dog - check, cute dog with butt plug chew toy - check.

Personally, I liked this book so much more than Love Slave for Two because I really felt/identified with the characters much more intensely. I loved the BDSM components and the Master/slave aspects so much in Safe Harbor.

No-one writes a better BDSM book than Tymber Dalton and if you want a realistic look inside, as well as a good poly story, then Tymber Dalton and (definitely) Safe Harbor is a great place to be looking.

Excellent writing of BDSM relationship. I think this may be better than Cherise Sinclair.

I really enjoyed the characters, the diverse sexual situations, and the dynamic relationships. I think some people may not be comfortable with the three-way relationship, but she made it believable.

My biggest objection was the lack of... romance. Of falling in love. The budding relationship. They meet the girl and then... it is a month later and they're in love. What made them like her so much? They describe how they met... how they supported each other in tough emotional times and were drawn closer by that. But how do you transition from loyal friends to lovers to Master/slave? Once the relationship is established, she does an excellent job of showing its many sides, especially in sex and submission, but she never described people falling in love. It's not unrealistic because she leaves time-gaps more than big enough for it to happen, but I think that is something romance should describe. Of course, you could say that this is just erotica...

It was a sweet BDSM romance that didn't make me puke!

A predicable but nicely told story. Kudos to Ms Dalton for not letting Clarisse turn Mac and Sully's relationship upside down. They let her become part of their lives and they love her but made clear that Mac will always be the first one for Sully and vice versa. I liked that there isn’t even a hint of possibility that one day it could be only Mac and Clarisse or Sully and Clarisse.

It was really refreshing that once told about their relationship Clarisse didn’t say: Oh yes I’ll forget my boyfriend abused me and I fully understand that there are people who get off at pain but: “she found it difficult to maintain the open-minded mindset she’d prided herself on.”

Even if I cringed several times at Sully’s behaviour I was reminded what I know in my heart “Every person in the lifestyle is in it for a different reason and practices it in a different way.“

It took me a while to write this review because what can I say...except that Tymber is a rockin author!! I truly believe that she was put on this earth to be an author. She has great flow to her writing and I seem to get lost in the story whenever I start one. I can't wait to read more of the Suncoast Society Series!

This is a m/m/f story. The characters were beautiful in this story of love, compassion and ultimately learning to trust completely. There is just enough humor to keep this story real.

Mac, Sully and Clarrise are three beautiful people that come from a rough background, but they find a way to heal and learn to love/trust again. I loved the way the BDSM was handled in this story and you can tell that Tymber is very knowledgable on this subject. I don't want to give away any of this story, but I will say that I highly recommend this story and this author! I can't wait to read more in this beautiful series.

I exceeded my WTF limit and stopped reading at 49 percent. I should have known it was headed that way when it took me nearly a week to get that far. I'm usually a consume-in-one-sitting kind of reader.

It's just bad writing, though I've read worse, but I never really believed the characters or their relationships, and by the time I stopped I just didn't care to try any more.

I did like the uncle - enough to wonder if he represents an actual person. The rest of the characters were just flat. And I don't believe a woman who has lived through a physically abusive relationship is going to watch a BDSM play party with no emotional issues days after her bruises fade, or agree to attend one as a participant a few weeks later.

Well, it's a Tymber Dalton book so of course it was good. Her writing is always good especially in the erotica genre. This isn't my favorite book of her's, that will always be The Reluctant Dom but I did enjoy this story. This wasn't a tear jearker for me but I did enjoy the characters. I kinda felt bad for Sully or at least I would have enjoyed getting to read more one on one time with Sully and Clarisse. Almost all the one on one was with Clarisse and Mac or Sully and Mac. Overall, a recommended read!!

If i was the kind of person who would cry while reading this book would have caused me to use some kleenex. I thought the begining was very detailed and full of character development was very slow and left me wondering if I could get through it. Around half way through that all changed and the book took off and was an amazing story about loyalty, trust, love, compassion and acceptance. It was wot=rth the wait.

Honestly? I loved this book. The relationship between Sulley and Mac was beautiful and I think when they added Clarisse it just perfected that beauty. The best for me is that it wasn't an instant relationship for the three, they worked for it. And they had some great sex once everything was worked out for them all.

LOVE IT!

This is nowhere near my first BDSM, ménage, m/m/f book, but it was so much better than some books that I have read in the past.

This is the first book that I have read by this author, but if her other books are as good as this one, I will definitely will be reading more.
