Janet Frost feels like she just won the lottery. In a way, she did. She was already rich so she didn’t need the money the Institute was going to pay her.
The Institute of Human Behavior notified her that she was the chosen one for the human experiment on the effects of solitude and she was absolutely thrilled! But, was she really ready for such a huge transition in her life? She thinks she is.
The Institute advised her she would be leaving in two weeks for a two year stay on a deserted island with no human contact whatsoever. They told her she would be allowed to bring along 12 items. How in the world was she going to choose only 12 items to take with her? She discusses it all with her best friend and faithful companion, Atlas, her precious dog, who always listens intently to her.
Being the shop-aholic she is, her mania takes over and she goes on a fast paced shopping spree for things to take with her. She becomes quite conniving in her packing plans.
Before Janet knows it, she is on the Institute’s private yacht, sailing towards her new home for the next two years. She didn’t count on meeting a man and falling in love before she got to the island. Love takes her by complete surprise but she refuses to let it interfere with the experiment.
While on her way to the remote island, a team of doctors examine her inside and out, reassuring her they only want to make sure she is healthy and up for the challenge at hand.
Take the journey with Janet and Atlas as they learn the island and face all the challenges being stranded brings them.
Survival. Solitude. Mystery. Suspense. It’s just a relatively harmless human experiment. Or is it?
