Two Take a Train: Russia, Mongolia, China, Tibet, India, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and back

As a retirement present to ourselves my wife and I decided on a seven-month trip to Mongolia, China, Tibet, India and South East Asia, mostly by rail and at no greater cost than remaining at home. This is a Grand Tour for Grey Oldies.

I’m sorry but this is really dull and the main title is a massive red herring. Yes, two do take trains, mostly, but other than 6 days travelling in and out of Russia there is very very little about the trains, the journeys, the characters they will have met. For example; here’s a short excerpt: “The train journey to Dehra Dun, where we are attending a conference, is uneventful.’

Should have been titled “Two Travel Asia (we use trains a lot but don’t talk about these much)” in which case I’d have been way more selective before reading.

The rest of the book is also quite dull and took a lot not to record my first Did Not Finish. However, I have resilience.
