Serina and Mizukawa-sempai are celebrating two years together ... and after their all-important first time, they're deeper in love than they've ever been before. Then, their second summer vacation is right around the corner ... and while they're doing their best to spend it like lovers do, Sempai's gearing up for his college entrance exams. Could this mean changes are in store for the two of them ... ?!
In the most unnecessary storyline yet, Mizukawa dyed his hair a shade of white after losing a really basic bet. What ensued was complete chaos and an extremely irritating situation in which it became basically impossible to tell Mizukawa, his younger brother, Higuchi and Inoue apart. The whole time throughout this vol I was completely confused and had literally no idea what was happening because of that.
This shining star of a manga took such a steep nosedive to the ground, I'm so disappointed. Apart from the hair debacle, the tone throughout this vol was gloomy and depressing. Serina asked Mizukawa if she could enjoy her summer without him seeing as he had to study for exams, and whilst the couple's communication was still great, it irked me that they both acted like not spending every second of every day together was a travesty of epic proportions. Considering they'd been dating for more than a year by this point, surely it'd have been more realistic to portray them as having grown both within their relationship and outside it so as not to be so dependant on each other. But really it seemed as though both Serina and Mizukawa lacked any personality traits outside of their relationship and seeing them in these few chapters without each other made them appear as though they were very bland characters.
However, I did understand Serina's weariness for being apart from Mizukawa to some extent because it seemed that, for all their fantastic communication, Serina not wanting to spend time with Mizukawa due to her not wanting to distract him from his studies had possibly caused her to grow apart from her boyfriend. The ending left a lot of uncertainty in the air and for the first time in this manga I have no idea what's going to happen next.
This was one of my favorite series so far...until this volume. The tone of the story suddenly changed so much and I really don’t like where this seems to be going. Also that whole dyed hair storyline was confusing and unnecessary!
I love how this manga have a mature discussion about how to handle a low contact/long distance relationship. The communication between the MC and the MC with their friends are really great. The last bit of the chapter was ominous tho. I'm worried hwhwhwh—
Nooooooo! How can it end like this??! Why do this to me?!
I don’t know what to say anymore on the manga at this point. Do a lot of things happen in this volume? No. Do I care? No. I liked that they are at the point in their relationship where they can do silly things in front of each other without feeling shame and therefore being more themselves with the other.
And did I miss something or Mizukawa was even more romantic in this volume than in the previous ones? I feel like he was even sweeter than usual and of course, I didn’t mind.
Not as good as previous volumes, but this is still my favorite relationship book in all shojo manga. It has the most realistic-feeling dialogue and the two of them have such obvious affection for one another (amongst other emotions you don’t see that often in these stories)
It’s also unique in that they have been together since volume one and we see the actual relationship, something a lot of manga give minimal time to.
The volume ends on a particularly ominous note, but it’s one that is organically built into the culture and the universal truth of high school relationships. Interested to see where it goes.
OMG 😱 for like 6 volumes this manga has always had this very realistic portrayal of young romance but it was always super cute and funny. Volume 7 is still cute and funny, but it’s got this bittersweet feeling to it now. Again, very realistic, slice of life approach to telling the story of this young couple. But I think we forget that the adult world is constantly pulling us in all directions and it’s hard to make time for relationships. Sempai is studying hard for college entrance exams and Serina is making the most of her high school life. I like that they both want their independence and understand what their top priorities are and in doing so try to make the most out of the very limited time they can spare when they are together. Usually distance makes the heart grow fonder, but it’s starting to look like too much distance is making the heart grow indifferent. Gah!!!! This is my dream couple. They’re both so good together and are constantly being honest with one another, but right now they’re holding back so much all in the name of not getting in the way. So sad. But this mangaka does it in such a subtle way that it makes me feel like this story could go either way in the next volume. And I’m so anticipating what that outcome will be!!!!!

More of a 3.5 star rating; I really like that despite the other senpai knowing his love is unrequited, he’s subtly supportive of Serina and Mizukawa’s relationship; albeit only to keep Serina happy in his own way. Also, I’m worried going into this next volume. I hope that the lengthening days that Mizukawa and Serina don’t see each other is going to become a big issue.
I've attempt to read this so many times, it just brings my mood down maybe bc its to realistic. but i finally finished it so thts good. one more vol to go! I wasn't ganna write a review bc i was to lazy but i might reread this series in the future.
I’m starting to get a bad feeling that this series may have a melancholy end where the couple go their separate ways after high school, and that thought just makes me so sad!!
