This two actor Audiobook features Judge Dredd as the narrator. Dredd is usually a man of few words. However, Dredd is forced by an internal review to report on his actions, and so Dredd explains his hunt for Garris Hale, a former Judge exiled to the Cursed Earth, the radlands as a mutant.

The story has a very Noirish feel to it. This is helped by Dredd's hard boiled descriptions of locations and people including the Radlands. There's also a sense of regret over the actions he had to take that Hale out of the city in the first place. This reveals a bit more of his character as we see him (through flashbacks) offering advise to Gale before he left the city. Dredd's guilt leads him to try to go above and beyond to take Gale alive.

There's also a government cover-up and a bit of mystery as to what Gale has returned to Mega City One. Overall, this is a great story that manages to seemlessly combine elements of science fiction and noir into a satisfying package.
