When she started her investigation, the last thing Lucy expected was to end up with an illegal slave in her kitchen, and a stirring hunger for blood. With the mystery deepening with each new discovery, Lucy uncovers a vampire underworld she never knew existed. The vampire detective series continues in What the Fangs. Lucy's love life is becoming more complicated while her chance of solving this mystery seems impossible. Someone is leaving her clues but they seem to be more about romance than mystery. Can lucy put the pieces together? Will she find the perfect romance balance?

Another great addition to the vampire series. I like the narrator and the story had me guessing all the way through. I can't wait for the next instalment.

More Mystery and Mayhem

Here we are, in the second book in the Vampire Detective series. Things are starting to steam up, but at the same time, it’s not just Lucy’s love life that is getting complicated.

They still haven’t worked out the mystery of the cat, or of the blood slave that appeared in Lucy’s bedroom. Plus, it appears that vampire society would rather stick to their traditions, no matter how unsavoury. If it wasn’t for her men, Lucy would be finding herself becoming more and more isolated from “polite” vampire society. At least she’s not the only one finding certain practices distasteful.

All in all, a great sequel, although the “blind” side of the main characters is starting to get frustrating. I am hoping that all will be resolved soon!

Final rating: ★★★★☆ – Really liked

Ever since I read the first book in this series, I just wanted to read on. The first book was so amusing and the characters were so funny and lovely and perfect. However, I had a few other books to read first. Today was the time though. I could finally reunite with Lucy and her guys. And once I finished this book I was almost tempted to read the last book in the trilogy too, but I didn't do it. Mostly because then I wouldn't be able anymore to write a review of the second book.

Yes, the mystery is not the most prominent part in this book. But for some reason I don't really mind that because everything else is so entertaining and funny and touching. And, maybe secretly there are quite a few more things related to the mystery than we think right now. I love however how we did get a few new pieces and how those pieces show us a part of vampire society that was not exactly pretty. Lets say that it's really getting interesting right now!

What does steal the show? The romance and the characters! Lucy is the kind of person who simply can't just love one man (I totally understand that) and I really enjoy how William is giving her the time and room to explore those feelings and what can be with those other guys. Which doesn't mean that Lucy can just do everything she wants. Their relationship, and commitment, works, because William really wants Lucy to communicate about it, which means she's also learning how to communicate in general when it comes to her feelings.

However, in this book Watson stands out the most. I don't know what it is, but something about him is so endearing and charming and playful. It's like the entire world gets a little brighter when he's in the scene. Which doesn't mean I love the other two guys any less, because I don't. William is really charming, open minded and respectful. And Derek is just the kind of boy next door with nerdy hobbies I could so fall in love with.

If the review copy for the book that releases on Monday doesn't arrive in the next 45 minutes, I know what I'm reading tomorrow. The last book in this trilogy!

What The Fangs by Arizona Tape and Laura Greenwood is a paranormal mystery that I listened to on audio narrated by Susan Greenway.

I absolutely love when Arizona and Laura write together! This story was so much fun to read. I loved that they had Lucy go to Dragon Soul to tie in the characters from Torn Soul. I really like Lucy and can’t wait for Fangs For All to be released on audible to get more of her story.

Susan did an amazing job on the narration. I absolutely love her voice and thought it was perfect for Lucy’s character.

I would highly recommend this book if you love paranormal mystery’s, paranormal romance, or slow burn reverse harems.

What The Fangs is second book in the Vampire Detective series, and it’s just as enjoyable, mysterious and fun as the first book.

Lucy’s investigations will lead her on some unexpected paths. And let’s not forget the relationships in her life who are explored a little more - from the fiancé to the inventor and then to the PI childhood friend/rival (note this is a slow burn).

I love the element added with Mika, Lucy’s illegal blood slave. There’s definitely a whole story to be explored with her as well.

Oh and some favourites from the Twin Souls Universe will make a little appearance.

I highly recommend this fun urban fantasy/paranormal mystery from Laura Greenwood & Arizona Tape.

This is the second book in the Vampire Detective series and we watch as Lucy deals with an illegal blood slave in her kitchen from the ending of the first book. With plenty of mystery, action and suspense that follows the first book we see as Lucy's investigations have led her on an unexpected path. While her relationship with William is not set in stone she wants to explore a little more in her relationships with Derek and Watson. I can not wait to read the next book in the series. This is book two of The Vampire Detective series and Lucy (Lucinda) Corentine is facing even more issues. William, her long waiting fiancé, has managed to somehow buy her a blood slave, something that has been illegal for a hundred years or more, whilst exceedingly drunk trying to cope with Lucy’s closeness to Derek. She has been getting tons of packages coming to her door, none of which she has even opened and William believes they are from Derek, trying to push his affections for Lucy and rub it in William’s face. William is visiting to help with the missing watch case, but that has brought about more issues with their relationship and her attraction to Derek, which she doesn’t know how to address. She has always loved William and always knew she would marry him one day, so isn’t really sure what to do about her new feelings for Derek without upsetting what is expected of her.

The strange packages she received have led Lucy to a shop in town and she meets her first love Watson and now bitter rival, just outside and he persuades her to let him come in to help her, like their childhood games. The big question of why he suddenly disappeared on her all those years ago, is still to be discovered and may answer some questions she has about her life. They end up an auction and a watch similar to that which she had been hired to find, leads them into a secret auction in the back of the warehouse, where she discovers a long forbidden practice still being upheld and taken advantage of, by certain rich and noble families of vampires. Her grandmother fought to stop these practices and her team of men, William, Derek and Watson are there to help her take up her grandmother’s fight! She has her blood slave or blood servant Mika to also worry about at almost every turn, as well as some odd feelings about her as well!

She tries to face the Vampire Council with the issues of humans still being used for blood slavery, but has a lot to learn still about the powers behind the council and those that sit on it, whether they be elders or legacy heirs such as her. It seems the power of the council is being controlled by only a few, rather than voted on by each individual, as it should have been. She wanted the freedom to live as a modern vampire in the modern world, rather than be stuck with the expectations of her mother and the old fashioned vampire roles and rules. She may have taken on more than she can handle in both her personal life and also her burgeoning life as a P.I. Nothing is going to be simple and easy for her in either part of her life. She may have been warned off in her investigation, but she won’t give up quite so easily. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Lucy Corentine is a vampire private investigator who doesn’t appear to be a very successful PI since she hasn’t cleared up the mysteries of her blind cat, Jester, who had been left in a cardboard box on her porch, nor the presence of the blood slave she found in her bedroom. She also has a mystery about a watch, but getting the details to find it seemed to be a long, slow process since her client was incapable of making it clear what to even look for! And those are just a few of the mysteries she hadn’t solved yet! Now she’s getting lots of gifts and no one is admitting to being the sender. Even her love life is getting a little cluttered with three men. Will she make any progress on her cases? Will her dates work out more successfully than they have?

I think I may be happy to say that this book is continuing to be a crazy, funny, enjoyable continuation of the series. Lucy is still her snarky self and I love the interactions with the other characters in her life. I do hope she has a fall-back career choice in case the PI job continues as it has so far. The story line is well-paced as the reader is guided through the mysteries Lucy most often ignores. But something is building up, and you need to grab your copy of the book to find out what’s going on…maybe! With the riddle and some other things that might be clues, perhaps we will find out who she is dealing with? Be ready for the cliffhanger that will move us to the next book and hopefully some solutions!

Lucy, Dereck, Watt and William are at it again.. bumbling around each other trying to find where each other fits. Lucy finds a blood slave in her room and is soooooooooo not happy about it! William can only explain it away as him being drunk when he did it. He did it to out do the presents that are being sent to Lucy's house. They finally open the boxes and it becomes a clue to a new mystery. Lucy and Derek's first date is a disaster and Mika the blood slave is having a adverse effect on Lucy. Watson and Lucy have an outing and lines begin to blur with them also. Lucy find herself in a pickle, not sure how to figure things out with the guys and she finds herself on unsteady footing where they're concerned. The packages lead to a clue at a bridal shop, where she ends up trying on a dress and finds a clue in the pocket of one. Now she has 2 wedding dresses and another clue but not really sure what the clues are too. See keeps following the clues and getting more connected to her guys. The end of the clues leads to an auction, but not like she expected, and boy does that open a can of worms!!! On to book 3 where we hopefully find out what the fang is going on!

At the end of the end of 'Fangs for Nothing' Lucy received a present from William, a present she is not happy about. A blood slave he'd ordered while trying to one up Derek, before they reconciled that situation.

This books starts right at that point and she's lying in wait for William with Jester in her lap. She more than a little pissed off and it shows.

That's just the beginning of this hilarious and intriguing tale. She goes on a date with Derek and finds he isn't the one sending her all those 'gifts' that are piling up in her living room. They decide to go back to the house and see what's in them. So not what she expected and William and Derek are getting along very well. She still has to find that darn watch and in her pursuit of that she runs into Watson again. Just what she needs more complications.

I certainly didn't expect the twist this one took or the ending. I can't wait for all of this to be solved.

This is the second book of the vampire detective series. Detective Lucy is confused both by the case and by the guys and so am I. I was expecting there to be more of the story dedicated to the actual case solving process, not Lucy going out on a dates and trying to figure out her feelings for the guys. I was expecting a little more detective work, not teenage drama meets vampires meets reverse harems. I am just hoping that the last book doesn't disappoint and that we finally get to figure out why she is getting a ton of packages and the conclusion to the mysterious case that started this whole thing to begin with. What The Fangs (The Vampire Detective #2) is similar to the first book in the series, Fangs For Nothing (The Vampire Detective Book 1), in that it has a minimal amount of private investigation going on and a lot of witty romance; let me figure out my love life storyline. Lucy, William, and Derek are walking in the reverse harem realm, which feels awkward. Of course, there is Watt, still getting in the way of Lucy's not so burgeoning PI business. The story does flow better than the first book but was still not as engaging as I had hoped it would be. I like the introduction of the two characters, Mika and Watson. There is more of a mystery element in this book, which was nice to read. There is also a little cliffhanger ending that compels you to read the next book in the series.

This is the continuation from the first book in the series. Lucy is definitely one busy vampire. She has feelings for 3 different men all in a different way. Along with trying to figure out the mystery of the watch, she’s got a living room full of presents – not from her “fiancée” and not from the other 2 men in her life. All I have to say is Lucy is not that good of a PI! She does however, make this story worth reading as she has all these adventures (or misadventures!).

I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens. Another great story and the characters are great! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy through Booksprout ARC’s for an honest review.

i love laura greenwoods books. i read all three books in the series, one right after the other, they arent very long books, but together they make a good story. lucy is a bit on the dingy side and she is a rich vampire who loves william and is sortaq enagad to him ,but there ius an oldchildhood friend that resufaces and the sexy vampie inventer all aspiring towin her affections. I lioked the male characters very much, there is a blood slave ring and other mysteries to solve.

i recommend reading all three books together like i did for the best experience. sorry for no punctuation. broke arm.

The good the bad and the ugly of vampire society.
Lucy is getting gifts, thinking they are from Derek, even though she sort of has a fiancé named William. When she confronts Derek and he says they aren’t from him, they go back to her place and open them. The gifts have clues and following them up leads to other clues. It also leads to her former childhood best friend Watson who she thinks abandoned her years ago. Now she has three potential lovers. Who does she pick? And the clues she’s been receiving lead to something that she never thought she would see and she is determined to stop it. No matter the cost. Really enjoyed reading this book and could not put it down from start to finish. This is turning out to be a great paranormal mystery series filled with humour, magic, mystery, intrigue, deception, action, enemies, friendship, romance, obstacles to overcome, plenty of blind twists and a fantastic ending making you want to pick up the next book. Very well written, intriguing characters with hidden depths, secrets, complications and brilliant chemistry all wrapped up in in an imaginatively gripping storyline.

I cannot wait to find out what happens next as the series concludes in book three. I hope to read plenty more books by Laura Greenwood in the future.

“What the Fangs” is the second book in “The Vampire Detective” series by Laura Greenwood, a paranormal romance harem serious set in the author’s “Twins Souls Universe”.

Lucinda Corentine (Lucy), highborn vampire P.I. last investigation provided her with an unexpected asset, a ravenous illegal slave, lusting for blood in her kitchen, a new addiction to the list of ‘troubles’ to take care of. First fiancé; second school nemesis rival P.I; third eccentric inventor, fourth the aforementioned vampire slave. The order may differ, but the ‘troubles’ remain fourth, and she still has to deal with the vampire underworld… no rest for the wicked, because yes, Lucy is wicked, in her own special way

Lucy and her boys are working hard to sort what is happening between them as well as the clues Lucy is finding to what started as a lost object, but is looking more sinister by the moment. Along for the ride is Mika, the big reveal from the end of book 1 who seems part an parcel of the mysteries as well. This is a slow burn RH that stays clean so far - a few chaste kisses and a bit of innuendo.

This is book 2 in the Vampire detective series as like book 1, this left many mysteries unsolved, many questions unanswered and and ended with a bombshell to shake Lucy's world. This book was far richer in storytelling than book 1. I like how this is building.

Lucinda and William have come to an understanding. Jester seems like he likes William, Derek and even Watson more than Lucy. Mika, her blood slave, is weird. She is not like any Lucy has ever seen. At least she has all three guys helping her on the mysteries she's working on. Find out what's up the the watch she was hired to find and who keeps sending her stuff. I like that she's learning how to stand up to her mother finally. Baby steps. I liked the humour and snark she brings to the world. i do recommend this book.

Laura G. continues Lucinda, William, “Watt”, & Derek’s ....maybe even Mika..?.?.. from the first book. She continues her PI work attempting to find the clues & leads that will bring her to finding out the real mystery behind it all.... what’s w/the blind black cat? The collar? Does she even remember that mysterious phone call??...? Will she finally decide to marry William?? What about her feelings for the other men in her life?? What’s to come of that..? Guess you’ll have to read on with me...

Okay this second book was significantly better on all the fronts that I complained about in the first book, except the spice/heat which has continued at a glacial pace, barely a blip but that isn’t the end of the world. I really wish they hadn’t been split up how they had been because the first book isn’t an accurate representation of the writers’ skill or how enjoyable the story is. That is to say, if you felt the same about the first one and you’re lookin for a sign to keep reading - this is it. It does get much better.

Now we're getting somewhere. The mystery of book one is to find a watch. Not much thrill to my brains, but! Yes. Book 2... things just got a lot a bit dicier. I'm glad I continued past the cozy mystery intro of this series and kept reading. Now things are getting good... err... worse? Horrible, really. But Lucinda is going to make things better. Keep reading and you'll see this blundering Vamp P.I. unravel more truths behind the real knit-wits.

I listened to the audiobook version and enjoyed the lovely accent of the narrator.

Second book about Lucy the vampire PI.
Next to Lucy there are also William her fiancé, Derrek the inventor who wants to date her and Watson her childhood friend present in this story.
Lucy finally opens the packages she thought Derrek sends her, but he didn’t. So no she has a clue and a new mystery which brings her to a shop with bride dresses, leaving with a dress and a new clue.
Which brings her into the path of vampires and a trade she didn't know it existed.

I have absolutely loved this series so far. I love Lucy and her men. I also appreciate how the story had be guessing and questioning the whole time because I hate stories where I know the ending before I even read it. I also really like the characters and can't wait to get to the next story to see what happens to them. I would definitely recommend this book.

Lucy is still working on her cases. She finally said yes to William and is wearing his ring. Lucy and William had a talk and it was decided that she could go on dates with Derek and Watson to see where her feelings lie. William knows Lucy is his so he is okay with it. This story is sweet and funny, and perfect for any reader. Highly recommended.
