The first time I saw Graham Ratliff, I swear the earth shook. But I was just a teenager with a crush on my father’s best friend.
Now he’s divorced, a single dad with an adorable daughter. I’m nineteen, ready to leave home, and desperate to see if Mr. Ratliff is as hot as I remember. Becoming his nanny is the answer to all my problems. I didn’t expect him to treat me so coldly… or to see such heat in his eyes when I tan by his pool. Bet he didn’t expect me, either… Discover Sadie Black's all new world of cruel billionaires, naughty nannies, and angsty secrets in book one of His Nanny trilogy.
Sadie Black is a 30-something author living on the east coast. She's married to a man who isn't a billionaire, but is her happily ever after (and they have four rugrats to prove it).
If she isn't dreaming up steamy romance stories or chasing her children then someone should file a missing person report, because she is always doing one or the other.
He was a dick to her and she needs to go to therapy. There was no chemistry. I'm mad at myself for reading this.
I almost gave this two stars because the only interesting part was the cliffhanger, but god knows I'm not putting myself through another book with these people.
New to me author and I AM OBSESSED!!! I am loving Graham and Abbie's story! While Graham is HOT AF during this book.... his swoon factor doesn't come in until the end! And then that cliffy! Whew! I spent so much time reading this book while I was supposed to be working that it isn't even funny! And there is some great mystery involved with this story too. Abbie is the nanny got Jude, who is just an awesome kid and they have a great relationship. Graham is still in a foul place after his divorce. I really hope that Graham becomes more swoony! He seems like he could totally be the trifecta! So glad I tried this author..... I just may and up being a total fangirl!
3.5 stars! I love a good forbidden romance, with the chemistry and the will they/won’t they suspense. I don’t think I really felt that tension between Graham and Abbie. I honestly think Graham is total jerk (and not in a hot alpha way) with the way he treats his daughter and Abbie, so that might be factoring in.
I enjoyed the book, but I think this is a hard one to review as the first part of the overall trilogy. It felt like a very slow set up to a big reveal with the cliffhanger at the end. I definitely want to know what happens next!
I received an advance copy of the book and these are my honest opinions.
First, let's discuss the elephant in the room for this one: the title.
It's bad. There I said it.
I mean, it's accurate and it definitely tells you what the book is about, but it's not a great title.
That said, I actually enjoyed this book. I found the writing to be fairly strong and the characters to be well developed. I also don't remember any moments where the dialogue felt forced or cringey, rather it flowed well and was realistic.
I love a good forbidden story and, I admit it, I also enjoyed Graham and Abbie. The pacing was a little on the slow side, but it's a trilogy so that tends to be the case.
Could it have been a little faster paced? Yes, and I think it would have been stronger story in places. There was also some outside drama with her father and his ex wife. The ex was fitting and actually seems on point. The drama caused by the father wasn't well developed and seemed like it was tossed in for effect...I'll have to wait to see what happens in the next book to decide how I feel about it.
Overall: 3.5/5 Spice level: 3/5 Tropes: billionaire, age gap, nanny/boss, dad's best friend
This book was decent. It's by a new to me author that sounded interesting. The spice was a slow buildup and there were moments I didn't like the characters. Abbie had immature moments and Graham had asshole moments (not in the good way) because he basically ignored his daughter's interests at times and was dismissive toward her.
Now the age gap thing had me hooked because of course he tried to resist her for a while but when he gave in, he gave IN.
Now... Abbie does her best to catch Graham's eye because she's had a crush on him since she was in high school so she went in wanting to reel him in. My real issue is that her dad, who was friends with Graham, has a hand in her scheme like he's pimping out his own daughter. It's weird and creepy. There's more to that part that I won't give away but it didn't sit right with me and felt like drama for the sake of it. Unnecessary.
This is book 1 in a trilogy and it ended on a cliffhanger so I'm interested enough to read on.
So this is one of those falls for my dads best friend style of books and that is not normally my cup of tea but the title looked interesting so I dove in.
She starts having romantic style feelings for him when she was 16, that is not super unusual and he doesn’t reciprocate at that time.
She comes back to his house three years later to be a nanny for his eight year old daughter and she sets her sights on seducing him.
I enjoyed reading the beginning of Graham and Abbie’s story. It’s enticing and entertaining and the characters are so well written. I especially love cute little Jude!
I can't wait for the next books. Graham and Abbie's story was intriguing right from the start. But what got me intrigued is why Abbie's dad asked her to nanny Graham's daughter. Of course, it's not revealed just yet and that's why I need the next one. Ughh, the chemistry and tension between these two! It was so intense and so hot. But because Graham has been burned before, and Abbie is his friend's daughter, he does not need to get involved with Abbie. He tried so hard to save his attraction and keep her at arm's length. I absolutely enjoyed the first instalment of their story.
Tropes: nanny, billionaire, age gap, betrayal, secret relationship
——————————————————
So….I have a lot of thoughts on this book, and I have to be honest. The last 30% or so was the saving grace of this book. My main feeling coming away from this book was confusion. Yet, despite all of my thoughts and confusions, the book has drawn me in, and I will most definitely read the next book.
Now, here are my general thoughts & confusions: (sorry, it turned into a rant).
The Billionaire and His Nanny (His Nanny Trilogy #1) By Sadie S. Black
I don’t chose a book for its major trope, I pick them because something in the blurb caught my eye, or a friend recommended the book and often because I am reading new authors to me to see if we are compatible in our author/reader role. I chose this one for the later reason. I also tend to take notes while I’m reading, so lets see what my notes say.
Three years ago Graham Ratliff and Abbie Montgomery met; he was 32 and she was 16. Did she make an impression on him, well she did when she sliced her finger open and he ended up taking her to the hospital for stitches. Was it love at first sight, no…Graham Ratliff was married and Abbie had a teenage crush on him. Skip ahead three years, Graham is now 35 and Abbie 19…and she is about to begin a summer job; she’s the summer Nanny to eight year old Jude Ratliff, Graham’s daughter.
And so it begins!
Abbie was a character that I found flighty at times and by flighty I mean the crush she continues to nurture often makes me wonder if she really is 19 or still 16. Then there are times when she is spot on when it comes to Jude and her feelings and the things she suggests to Graham.
I did feel for Graham, I understand his want to give Jude everything, the trauma of having her mother walk out obviously has affected her over the past year. They’ve already had ten months dealing with blowback and Abbie is new to this scenario. Graham is a workaholic and very much has a dominate personality, I can see how he has been damaged as well.
Things are going to change though, his Ex-wife wants back into their lives and there is something going on between Abbie and her father and it doesn’t sound like either one of them are trying to help Graham, even if her father continues to say he is a “friend”.
I’m set for a real rollercoaster ride in the book two of this trilogy…when the explosion occurs, who is going to hurt the most by the tabloids and the gossips. I’m worried more about Jude and Graham than I am about Abbie at this moment.
Graham and Abbie's story is a forbidden age-gap romance, this is the first in the trilogy, a billionaire and the nanny. The plot is what you are in for, the characters are good, if you like a jerk of a guy that needs to change for the girls in his life it is. Remember is the first in a trilogy, so you will be left hanging for a bit until the next one. The steam factor is good, it is spicy yet the story will pick up and is a bit slow on the romantic side after the spark.
Sadie Black is a new to me author and her writing had me hooked from the blurb. I love forbidden age gap romance so I was so excited to read this story. Graham, Abbie’s new boss and her father’s close friend, is in need of a summer nanny for his daughter, Jude. Abbie takes the job in hopes of seducing the sexy British billionaire, whom she’s been crushing on since she was 16. Graham and Abbie’s chemistry is an intense undeniable attraction. In the beginning, I didn’t like Graham or Abbie. He was such a jerk and treated Abbie and Jude as an inconvenience. I’m all for hot dominate, Alphas, but Graham was too much at times. As the story went on they grew on me and now I’m rooting for them as a couple. At first, Abbie sounded too much like a silly teenager with a crush, but she proves to be so much more. Book one in the trilogy was full of hot steamy scenes, a brooding dominate billionaire, a sassy, mouthy nanny, a lively spunky 8year old and a few twists and turns that add to the drama of it all! The cliffhanger is shocking and I can’t wait to find out what happens next for Graham and Abbie.
I want to really like this book, but for me there is one fatal flaw. I can do angst and I can do drama and secrets, but I cannot have that all cumulate on the last page just so the nest book continues the story. For me, when I get to one of these big drama angsty moments, I have to put the book down for a minute take a breather and then pick it up and push through. It is never as bad as my brain makes it out to be, but alas, I still do this ritual. However, this drama announced in a bombshell happened on the last page. I do not have the next book (as I usually do not) so picking it up and trudging through will me next to impossible. For this reason I am sad that I may never know what happens. It cannot be so bad since there are three books in the series but my own shortcoming usually predict that I will never pick it up again.
I liked Graham and Abbie pissed me off on more than one occasion. I get she is young, but her only redeeming quality was her love for Jude. That girl has a lot of growing up to do before she can claim to be a responsible adult. At least the smutty scenes were scintillating. I want a Graham too.
This forbidden love story with an age gap was deliciously written. The crush Abbie has on Graham started off when she was still a teenager and has grown over the years. When she is hired to be is daughters nanny over the summer things get somewhat twisted. She goes out of the way to show herself off to him and he just trashes her in nasty ways to keep his mind off her. There story gets more and more intertwined when he starts to get jealous of the people she is hanging around. When Abbie has had enough and stands up for her self and his daughter Jude he see's her in a new perspective and then its no holds bar between the two of them. He still is very demining to her in so many ways it was hard to hear but she just took it as her heart was his. There are somethings that have been going on in the back ground and Abbie's father is involved some how but we don't know how or why. The mystery is getting bigger when we hit that cliff hanger and OMG what a cliff hanger it is. Can't wait to read the next book. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I read the reviews before I downloaded this book. I am thankful for the reviews. I generally don't like leaving negative reviews when I have gotten a free book. This again was a few chapters, not a book. The main female started out at 16 and was only 19 through these chapters. I feel gross reading about someone so young. While I realize she is legal, her brain clearly wasn't fully formed yet to think the treatment was a turn on. Grahm, the object of Abbies affection is divorced and he and his ex-wife fight infront of the eight year old girl. Not okay and it could have been so much better if Abbie stood up to them and demanded she and the little girl leave so she could have at least a little bit of a redeeming quality. And the end her dad is pimping her out? Yes, human trafficking is real and scary and I am disgusted that an author would go there. There will be no more Sadie Black on my Kindle. However, I did learn a few new words which I appreciate and the editing and use of the English language was fantastic.
The classic older man/younger Nanny love story!! Graham and Abbie's story isn't so far fetched as to be unbelievable, although it does stretch the imagination at times. However, that's kind of the point in stories like these, at least in my opinion. This one was a fun, titillating read that held my interest throughout. Graham was the perfect grumpy older Dad trying hard to curb his attraction to his young all-too-willing Nanny, the daughter of one of his friends. Abbie was kind of all over the place...smart, sassy and naughty one minute and a naive ingenue the next. Some of her actions were by design, some weren't. Turns out she was more naive than smart and sassy which adds to the reading fun. There's more to this story than just an over-the-top taboo attraction. This is a new author for me, and I really enjoyed this book. I feel certain I will continue on and read the next book in this series.
The Billionaire and His Nanny is a unique story, and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the trilogy. This is my first time reading a book by Sadie and I enjoyed her writing style. At times the characters were super obnoxious, but I loved reading their character development. Other wise, I really enjoyed this story. Good job, Sadie!
Abbie and Graham are wonderful, stubborn, and completely insane when it comes to each other. At times I found them both a little annoying, but once I read the entire book I saw the bigger picture. You'll see it too! I absolutely loved Jude too. She is an amazing little girl and really makes Abbie and Graham so much better. I can't wait for you to meet this picture-perfect family, but is that what they truly are? How can they be the picture-perfect family when Abbie is only the nanny?
Abbie has had a crush on Graham since she was 16, her and her parents spent a summer with the Ratliffs and she became infatuated with him. Fast forward 3 years, the Ratliff's have split and a nanny is needed for their 8year old daughter Jude - in comes Abbie!
It seems her crush has only grown more! You soon learn there's more to her being there - and not in an innocent light!
I liked the characters, Abbie can be annoying at times, she's very naive when it comes to men and is rather keek at flirting. But she's excellent with Jude, Jude isn't getting it easy - parents fighting, self-doubt, it's really rather sad and I just wanted to hug her! Graham adores his daughter but it seems he's gotten so swamped with work, he's forgotten how to be a dad!
It ends on a cliffy but I'm looking forward to reading more.
After reading the blurb of The Billionaire and His Nanny I was very excited to dive into this story. So when I got the chance to read this book I was thrilled and it didn't disappoint. The Billionaire and His Nanny delivered exactly what it promised, a fun sexy story that will have you eager for the continuation. Graham and Abbie's story will keep you invested, just their conversations alone and inner dialogue keep's you turning the pages wanting to find out what happens next. In many ways, the Billionaire and His Nanny feel's like an introduction to what so far promises to be a sexy, page-turning series and after that ending... that cliffhanger I am eager to get my hands on book two. If you're wondering if you should pick this book up the answer is yes, do it now.
🔥ARC Review🔥 The Billionaire and His Nanny By Sadie Black
4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars
The Billionaire and His Nanny by Sadie Black was a forbidden love story that involves Abbie and her father’s best friend Graham whom she has always been a little too attracted to. The age-gap and the forbidden aspects of the relationship make it into a delicious story and the fact that Graham tries so hard to keep away from his friend’s daughter makes it especially fun to read. The couple’s chemistry was exceptional and their interactions were drool-worthy. There were also some secrets that we were not privy to and I think those secrets, once revealed, will take their story to the next level. The book ended with a cliffy so I hope the next installment comes out soon.
A few pros but more cons for me. Graham is more than we think - more decent, to be sure, and careful [in the extreme]. His decisions are not bad decisions, but the people around him??? How does a good man come to be surrounded by people who only want to take advantage of him? And how does the nanny care about him but participate in a deception, even by omitting someone else's intentions [whether or not she assists them]? The takers in the story are overwhelming, to my thinking... it's just too much. I think I'm rooting for them as a couple, maybe...but we end with a cliffhanger and some likely questionable things connected to our nanny. The book is not badly written, I just do not care for so many of the characters, and the plot is giving me whiplash.
I'm giving this 1 star because goodreads doesn't let me give it none.
This was truly the worst book I've read this year. It was TERRIBLE. Like I can't think of anything in the book I liked other than Abbie and Jude's "friendship" (as much as a friendship a nanny can have with an 8 y/o girl)...
Graham was a disgusting male character. He kept constantly belittling Abbie and neglecting his daughter. Like, if you have a book with a massive age-gap between the characters you need to write it in a way that it makes sense, but Graham and Abbie had no connection outside of the physical attraction; and Graham hated everything that made Abbie, Abbie.
Sir, she is 19 years old, of course she behaves like a teenager. But what's your excuse for being a massive jerk?
Really good age-gap romance. Abbie has a huge crush on Graham Radliff from the moment she first meets him--the problem: she's 16 and he's twice her age, married with a five year old daughter. Three years later he's divorced and in need of a nanny. Abbie is delighted to step up! Besides her job, seduction is on her mind. He is a true workaholic and cold to everyone around him. Her work is really cut out for her and she has little success, but she falls in love with little Jude. Abbie is hilarious. She has a really smart mouth, but her seductive abilities are woefully lacking. And poor little Jude is absolutely run ragged with all her lessons--in summer no less! Ends with that dratted cliffhanger, but I can't wait for more!
Easy read- but such a great forbidden romance book. I LOVE Sadie Black and I cannot wait to finish the rest of the books in the series. The tension between Graham and Abbie is irresistible; the age gap… in love. And the fact that Abbie can go from a defiant “teen” yet still hold herself as a “woman” keeps your head in the pages. I could not put this book down.
Although Graham is an alpha dominant male - some say he’s just an a$$hole… I beg to differ. On book-tok I saw something that said “if all the fictional men from your favorite books were in a room, who would you look for first?” Easy… Graham.
You’ll love this book, I recommend it to anyone and everyone. Onto the rest of the books in the series 🤠💗
I'm a self-proclaimed forbidden romance junkie and this blurb sounded great, so I decided to give this new to me author a try. Overall, I liked this book, The concept behind it was solid and the written was good. I liked Abbie and Graham and I thought that their chemistry generated nice tension and plenty of shimmering sparks. As this is only book one of three, things are kind of going at a slow burn pace and I truly did not mind that aside from a few times when I felt the storyline just simply got bogged down. I look forward to seeing what happens in book two. I am posting an unbiased and unsolicited review.
Graham is a freaking jerk and I really wanted to ring his neck for the majority of the story that but that being said I really liked this story and I am really looking forward to in seeing where this author will take us. This author is new to me and this is my first read so I cant wait to see how the story develops. Graham’s daughter and Abbie really do have a special bond and you can see how much Abbie cares for her. The chemistry between Abbie and Graham has me seeing sparks. I love the tension and the build up. I like the bit of drama we get and I am really looking forward to the next book because I have a feeling we have barely scratched the surface with this one.
The Billionaire And His Nanny is a age-gap forbidden romance. While the title makes it sound very cliche there is more to this story than what you would expect. Abbie first met Mr Ratliffe,a close friend of her father's, when she was 16. Three years later and he is divorced and needing a nanny for his daughter.
The story alludes to something more sinister than Abbie doing a favour for her father's friend over the summer break but it is not clear what.
This is the first book in a Trilogy and it does end in a cliff-hanger. Sadie Black is a new to me author and she does like to spin intrigue through her novels. This book is 3.5 stars for me.
This book was okay. As far as this genre goes, the writing was done well- word choice and descriptions and that sort of thing and there was a cognizable and drawing plot line. That said- the FMC was not likeable, very pathetic and desperate and had no self-respect. While I admire the- "take what you want from life"- mantra, it doesn't work if you don't respect yourself through it. There were some fine lines between dominating and demeaning and they were crossed.
There's an interesting plot line going through this series, but I don't like the main character enough to follow it, so I probably won't read the sequel.
This book sets a pretty decent tone for this trilogy but I had a few minor issues. First it took too long to get into the sizzling, steamy parts & boy you will need to be fanning yourself when the fun times begin. Now I will preface this to say this was discussed in the book but I must point out Abbie's insane level of immaturity. She sees this in herself as does Graham but she does nothing to change it.
Regardless if this I am totally invested in the forbidden age-gap romance of Abbie & Graham especially after all the little mysteries dropped. I'm here for it all!!
