David Charles Henshaw Austin was a British rose breeder and author. If you have read any of David Austin books you know they follow a pattern, beautiful photographs, a wealth of information about the types and a list of his favorite varieties telling both their virtues and their faults. If the book has a problem it is that much of the information can be found in his other books but if you are interested in Old and English roses you will find no better source.
