the author invented a magic formula for long term investment that is easy to follow and works.
about the fomula: the formula advise one to buy the stock of the highest earning yield and return on capita, which make sense to buy these unpopular stock whose company has a decent earning. its practical and pragmatic. i was skeptical about the result since the formula result can be easily manipulated since the price of stock changes every hours and therefore the formula result changes every hour, you can easily chose from the vest amount of formula result and record the best that had produce the best result. Second, stock have low PE for a reason, they are unpopular because most people think that the field of bussiness or te company is going to decline due to some current policy change or competitor. but after reading many research and critics that pick check the magic formula themself with their data, they found out that the formula chose does produce a btter than market result by a noticable percentage -- my speculations were wrong! this formula actually works decently.
about the book: the book iterrate the main idea over and over with episodes of 'humorous' story that arent that humorous: it contain little other investment knowledge other than the formula. the information can be conveyed in a 10 pages article rather than a 150 pages book.
Great book to introduce you to the basics of investing in the financial markets, including tips to avoid the main downfalls for many investors. Gives very good insights into long term strategic investing. A great book to get you started!
