Who was the mysterious Bryce Drovnik? What was he doing in Austria-and why was he keeping Kim virtually a prisoner in his house? He really was quite detestable! How could she manage to get away from him?
A scuba diving tutorial - check A good underwater expedition chronicle - check Austrian countryside tourism promotion - check Romance - !?!?!?!??
I thought it was supposed to be a romantic novel with the backdrop of diving experts and a treasure hunt theme. But except for 2 kisses which sounded more like sufferance than passion, the leads never do anything remotely romantic in the story !
In fact, nothing intimate at all, not even the friendly kind. Just professional discussions and a couple of snorts and sniffs at the OW and the OM. The girl learns about the heroes' woeful background from a friend. The hero never learns about the girls' romantic past.
The reader gets to know all tit bits of information from various interactions between characters. But these loose ends need to be tied up between the leads directly. Now, as a reader, I cant get into their heads and extol each other virtues now, can I ??!?!?
And whats with the dull, mechanical climax. I land up at your doorstep and say 'I love u, u love me too ? Good lets get on with marriage then.' End of story !?!?!?
We dont read M&Bs for realistic mundane life accounts where love and marriage is only a small part. We want the whole 9 nine yards ! Romance and passion or at least hints of it. You let us down Mary Wibberly !
She goes to Austria in her brother's place to help with a scuba project: looking for treasure in a crashed airplane. We never find out about the treasure, but we do have a rich, handsome man. And of course there is a bad girl.
