The book series, Bodyguard, written by Chris Bradford, is a gripping teen thriller that follows the story of young Connor Reeves. He lives in London with his sick mom and aging grandma. An excellent martial art student, he quickly catches the eye of Guardian Founder, Colonel Black. The Guardian is a bodyguard organization that enlists teenagers to protect high-profile clients. These teenagers do not use firearms, only their martial arts skills and intense training to be prepared for anything that can happen on a mission. The reason for using teenagers is because the leader of the organization believes ‘the best bodyguard is the one nobody notices’. Connor accepts the job because his mom and grandma need money to help care for themselves, and the Guardian pays for a caretaker for them. He also learned that his dad was good friends with Colonel Black, and was a bodyguard himself. Because of this, he wants to be a bodyguard to find out more about his father, who died when Connor was very young.
This book series by Chris Bradford is hands down one of the most gripping and insightful book series out there. Reading it as a teenager when there are teenage characters makes it much more enjoyable, because of the relatability of the characters' thoughts and actions. Chris Bradford also has an excellent way of keeping the reader engaged with action packed books throughout the whole series. He also switches characters for the last two books, which helps answer many questions that are raised earlier on in the series. He switches to tell Charley’s story, one of Connors good friends that he makes at Guardian, Charley is in a wheelchair, and he hints that she has been through trauma earlier on in her life. One of the less noticeable but yet important authors craft points are the cliff hangers at the end of every book, but then also leaving a part of the second chapter of the next book at the end so it keeps you wanting to read the next book. For example, on page 262 of the seventh book, “Target”, Ash, the principle that Charley is protecting, receives death threats after almost being killed in an accident, and it ends with the ominous message, “Accidents don’t just happen”.
Chris Bradford also does a good job of giving details of all of what actually goes into being a bodyguard, so he slows time down through the characters eyes so that it shows everything that they have to process within seconds. For Example, on page 79, Book 7, “Target”, it says, “The mini-crowd surged forward and surrounded him. Charley and the rest of the team struggled to keep them at a safe distance as Jose signed more autographs and posed for selfies. All the while Charley’s eyes darted from each person’s face to their hands to the clothes. She hunted for the signs of a would-be attacker.” This shows just how many things bodyguards have to take into account, even the smallest details.
Overall, I enjoyed this book series very much because it really made me think about many different things that I am interested in. Not saying that I want to become a bodyguard but it would be pretty damn cool to be one that is for sure. Chris Bradford also kept me engaged and reading with his frequent action, while also throwing a little bit of romance in, which I wish it was more. Along with the suspense and the fact that it is very relatable for teen audiences like me.

“The best bodyguard is the one nobody notices”
Have you ever wondered what it’s like being one of those guys with cool sunglasses and a muscular physique? Have you wanted to know what it’s like being the last ring of defense? Protecting the world's elite? And being behind the scenes of the best concerts and events.

Bodyguard is a continuous series with about 8 books(the UK version is a little bit different) The author Chris Bradford really makes it an enjoyable series, and the plot is set very well.
This can be an intense read at some parts, especially in the current book I am reading, there are a lot of gory parts and regard to death.

This book is for those who love thrillers and anticipation, those who want to be taken somewhere else and feel like they are not where they are at that time, this book is for you.
The Bodyguard series is about a British teenager named Connor Reeves who is recruited into a secret organization called Guardian. Guardian trains teenagers to act as secret bodyguards, especially for other teenagers, who are kids of the elite, providing a last line of defense that bad guys will never suspect. Their missions take them around the world to places such as Russia, Burundi, Miami, the Caribbean and so many more places around the world, protecting children of billionaires, young rock stars, and even the Presidents daughter! From terrorist attacks to dealing with the Russian Mafia, they will do it all, the question is will they survive?

My unique take on this book is that it is one of the best series I’ve ever read, it takes me into the book and I get lost it is so thrilling and gripping that I forget everything around me, although the very first book is a little bit slow, all the other books get more intense and pickup as it develops the plot.

My recommendation for this book would probably be 13+, only because in the later books, there are some very descriptive words used to describe death, but you should read at your own risk.
(just a lot of action going on.)
