Lila Dawson, a witch and medium, heard the disembodied spirit voice tell her to move as a cold, icy blast of air went down her spine. Then a younger-sounding voice said “help me”. Then the loud, aggressive voice commanded her to get out, toppling a chair next to her. Lila was doing a psychic sweep for the Templar Paranormal Research Association (“TPRA”) whose members waited outside. When she refused to leave, the evil entity got very angry, locked the doors and windows, and his footsteps sounded on the steps as he came downstairs toward her. The young voice told her she should have left, now he was coming for her. She tried to unlock the door, and asked one of the team outside to help, but it would not open. This entity was very powerful, not at all ordinary. The heat level began to rise.

When John finally got a window open for her, knives were being hurled across the room. Her back was bleeding, covered in scratches. She suggested they needed more help because she alone could not handle this nasty entity she supposed was a demon by herself. An explosion sounded, and the team decided not to continue with this one right now. But driving away, a voice whispered, “He’s coming for you.” She knew it had marked her and she was gearing up for war, and she would have to do it alone! She would start by researching the house.

That night she had the same dream she always had of running through the forest while golden/blue eyes chased her. Shadows on the path were attacked and ripped apart as she ran. When she turned, the wolf became a man who grinned at her. Tonight’s dream was different. Instead of her moving away, he approached and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her and taking her to something she knew nothing about. Until her alarm woke her . . .

Lila had found only one female descendant of the Vinson family who had lived in the house. All the rest died early. But this one lived 3 hours away near Rainier, close to a place Lila was afraid to visit -- Witch’s Hollow. When she decided to go there, she went to check into a charming B&B and a little girl knocked her off her feet. Behind her was her uncle, Karter, and as she looked up, it was the man in her dreams! Little Sophie held her hand out to Lila, but as soon as they touched, she put Lila’s hand in Karter’s and jumped excitedly saying, “Mate, mate, mate!”

Something may have followed Lila here to Witch’s Hollow, or maybe it just started its evil murders again, but two witches have been murdered. One of them had the same pattern of scratches that Karter noticed on Lily’s back. His brothers gathering around the body, they took her to Witch’s Hollow and prepared to go after the evil they thought had been destroyed. Would Karter be able to keep Lila safe from the demon who had followed after her? Or would the only man she had ever loved be killed in defending her?

This book was so amazingly written that I was drawn in and never wanted it to end. The Knight family are so full of love and acceptance that it will melt the reader. The teasing the family did of Karter, the playboy of the family, was so funny! And although Lila wasn’t totally familiar with wolf ways, she knew she was in love with this man. The story line was terrific, with the slow building of their love amidst the suspense of the powerful demon coming after her. The reader will be immersed in the story from start to finish! Grab your copy and read one of the very best wolf shifter stories I have encountered in a long time!

This has witches, ghosts, demons, and werewolves. Sounds like my jam! And it worked very well... until we hit the romance. The romance is both gentle and heavy-handed. Plus there were some characteristics that just seemed ADDED ON; they felt misplaced. Altogether, it was a lovely paranormal tale in an interesting world, with a rather clumsy romantic pairing that I'm just glad I survived.

The story line was good, the character work was terrific and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was a great addition to the series and I look forward to see what happens next.
