Promise: a standalone Street Romance

Rate this book
A hairstylist from the suburbs gets a shop closer to the hood. It’s the ratchet stop shop, where Ky’Aria has all the tea, due to her loose-lipped clients, but she refrains from telling her own business— that is until she gets involved with a man who owns the streets, a man whose reputation precedes itself.

Everybody knows the name KD and wants his attention. It brings a whirlwind of drama, but when you meet a real one, is there a need for questioning if he is worth the added drama to her life? KD owns the city; who doesn’t know him? Who doesn’t want to be attached to his name? He doesn’t trust most and knows better than to let a woman who wants him for the wrong reasons get close.

Yet, when he meets her , it’s different.

KY is different. Her vibe captures his soul. He can’t help but be her everything, but being her everything has more challenges than intended, and he’s not sure if she’s worth all of the turmoil that comes along with her.

This is a story about two people who find their soulmates and go through the obstacles to find out if that title is all it's hyped up to be. Love is a journey, love is a choice, and love is accountability. Ky’Aria believes everything happens for a reason, and maybe everything that’s happened in her life has set her up for the man she never knew she needed, and in order for his promises to have meaning, he had to go through his own set of life mishaps. This love just may be the gift of life that they’ve craved to see beyond the losses.

This was a good roller coastal

No spoilers. This was an excellent read. Some parts I wanted to skip because the back and forth got on my last nerves!! However, I advise not doing that because you will miss all of the healing that needs to be done and the hot messness. You know what this book feels like? It feels like you are right there with the ups and downs of your friend's relationship. Its as if Kay was peeling the blanket on the beauty and ugly part of love. Nevertheless, it is a roller coastal. KD and Ky are that couple you root for then you say " Ummmm....maybe ya'll shouldnt be together." And then you go back and forth with fhose thoughts. One minute you out to lunch with him/her celebrating their happiness and then you holding them in their utter despair. We all havr those friends with THAT relationship.

The love scenes were hot but also passionate. I hate books where folks just having sex and there is no chemistry. Their interactions oozed feelings. Amd did I say they were hot!! Both of them had that " I will key your car" between their legs🤣
They are very well developed characters and so are there friends and family members as supporting cast.

The flow was well written there were some suprises but also some side eyeing of the extravagance. Like, are we dealing with Bill Gates family. So that was very unrealistic.

But all in all I highly recommend.

Promise to love this book

Where dock start? This, was a good read. I like how it flowed but it see like some parts were drawn out more than it should have been. Ky, she really got on my nerves with her back and forth shit. One minute she was hard as nail an the next she was crying and winning. I felt like she was to extra at times. Koda is BAE. He was Real Nigga Shit frfr. He didn't switch up on none of that hoe shit. When he was single he did single shit. Ky did him Wong on so many levels. I'm glad they got their ending, but I felt like the ending was kinda rushed. I hope to hear more from this story. 4 stars bc of editing with missus of words. But all in all it was a,good standalone🔥🔥🔥😄

Repetitive

Oh my Gawd. This story started out interesting and had me excited. Then reality came and so did the depressing repetitive chapters. The same argument, response and reaction. Both main characters had no depth or development. Neither of them had verbal intelligence. They had a singular personality that was ridiculously childish. I had to skip most of the last chapters just to get to the end. This book was exhausting to read..they broke up so many times for the same reason over & over & over..ugh.. I only skipped to the end to review this book. I don't recommend this book.

This was so long, Im so glad Jaz came out if her coma

I was so a mm azing how everyone rallied around Rico to help support him with baby RJ. The story of Koda and My was awesome and married with a set of twins. kD did what he was supposed to do to Klepto (Jason) that negro really drugged My and raped her and his sick but didn't see it that way he was make her have his kid. In the end it was probably KD's baby but the baby didn't make it any way.
Interesting how Koda's father showed up halfway through.
A lot happened but great book

Your word is your bond

I enjoyed the hood goodness of it all. Behind the choices made for survival, at the end of the say someone to share and grow with is Key. The journey of KD and Ky takes you on growth journey. Jasmine was the person that changed online communication to physical interaction. But it is up to KD and Ky to establish a relationship and allow it to grow. Through their different ups and downs, KD was determined to be the rock for Ky. First title by this author and look forward to reading more.

Enjoyed the Ups and Downs

This is my first time reading something from this author and I enjoyed this story a great deal! Relationships are hard and it takes a lot of work. Koda was beyond patient with Ky for the most part, she was truly lacking some maturity! They needed a break and that seem to help a lot! I love the family dynamics and the challenges that came with the families! There were strong friendships in this story as well. In end Ky and Koda was able to get their happily ever after!

Couldn't Put it Down

I can honestly say that I went through a lot of emotions reading this book. I got mad w everyone!! I already saw where everything was heading w the way Ky kept blowing up at Koda... How could she honestly think it was cool to get w Klepto knowing how he felt about her knowing how she felt about Koda... What he did was foul ASF but I'm truly glad everything turned out for the best... This is a really good read... U will truly be on a rollercoaster w these 2...

They are so toxic yet you can't stop reading it to see what's next

These two were the epitome of toxic. The highs and lows of their relationship made me wonder if low-key both of them had mental illness. One thing that was consistent was their love and loyalty to one another. At times you will want to shake some sense into the both of them. But you won't be able to stop reading to see what happens next.

man

This book took me down and through it do you hear me! Some of it hit home with the anxiety and panic attacks. I went through so many different emotions while reading this book! This was definitely an emotional roller coaster dealing with these two! But I loved their love for one another! The connections they had with each other. At times I wanted to shake the both of them. This book grabs you from the very beginning! And never let’s up! Outstanding

Good

Ky’Aria got on my nerves real bad. KD was a mess too but he was honest and that’s what I loved about him. Ky let her insecurities get in the way of a lot of stuff in her life. I understand her anxiety and anger issues concerning a lot of things. Jay was so wrong for what he did to her and got his karma. I hate what happened to Jazzy and Rico I need more on them. I’m so glad KD and Ky got there stuff together. My first by this author and would love to read more.

where do I start?

The book began good, but then it slowly turned into a storyline with no growth or movement. Fighting to fight and arguing to get back together to fight to breakup again. Then the drama was unwarranted drama. A shorter book with more focused and direct storyline would’ve been better.

🙄

I was so happy that this book finally ended!
Tooooooo many characters for no reason at all.
Tooooooo many dropped story lines like why was Jazz and Rico beefing, what happened to the best friend who KY grew up with and what happened with Shawn and his wife?? 🤔
And the overuse of baby, Daddy and Real highs shit almost had me pulling my hair out.....

I did not finish this book. After reading the first couple pages I was done. Ky' Aria was rude as ever to Jazmine for no reason which made dislike her instantly, the woman has some serious anger issues. I just could not with this book. I am returning this book to KU now!

I do not recommend this book

Just Wow

What a roller coaster ride. Almost didn't read this one. Didn't think I would like it. Not a fan of too much violence. Puting that aside, the main story is beautiful. No spoilers but thankful thst they got it together and Jazz is awake. Just hoping we don't have to wait too long for the " For Now"

This story was fire I loved the way they loved on each other, the way Dakota was able to control his anger because of the love he had for Kentucky the way the fought to maintain their love while working through past issues. I hope there's a spin off to this would love to know what happen once Jazz woke up and finally meets her son.

toxic love

The stress of this book lol. Therapy was absolutely needed for pretty much everyone because whew…a few weeks being apart and we all good now? Naw the issues are still there. I’m glad their communication got better and it would’ve been so much better had they learned to do that first. Now onto Jaz….my girl what is really about to happen there?

very long story

This was a good story. I’m glad they got their happy ending . Ky really got on my nerves with her issues. Koda was very sweet and patient. I would’ve been called it quits. Overall, the story was a interesting read. There was laugher and love, but also so heartache.

Promise

This book started off with no direction and 2 characters who were so toxic for each other. Kay and Koda had to learn love before they loved each other. With all the turmoil, lack of communication and fights I didn’t think they were gonna make it. However this story got right and so did Koda and Ky.

This is my first read by this author. I enjoyed the story and the plot but did find it dragging at certain times. In the way that slow burns drag but the actually love part didn’t drag if that makes sense. I will definitely read more by the author.

These two ….

Everyone knows a couple like Ky and KD. When they are good they are GOOD. When they are not, all hell breaks loose! This story takes you through it all. They truly wore me out! This was an entertaining story . I’m invested in Jazz and Rio’s story next.

Ok Read

The book started off good but from time to time it dragged . Ky was so annoying at times. Wow you going to end a book with a main character waking up from a coma for months and just say she woke up then the end....for now

RNS

Ky'Aria Dean was a young hair stylist who caught the eye of notorious gangsta Dekoda Green. It was instant attraction when they met, and love soon followed. But they were both young and they both had issues and soon, life got in the way.

Good

So they drove me crazy about 80% of the book especially Ky! She was irrational, whiny and immature and I didn’t really see any growth in her character. The drama and Koda kept me reading. It was a decent read but had a lot of back and forth and unnecessary drama.

Good

A good read with so much drama, trauma, and secrets. These characters have so much going on that I didn't see their relationship lasting. Both of them had trust issues and didn't know how to handle their feelings and emotions. The storyline was crazy and all over the place.
