This book was a real surprise to me! I was not expecting the depth of character writing and plot that I found in this great book!
I ADORE the theme and the package it is wrapped in! I have been down this road myself. "Is my life so badly messed up that no Godly man would even waste his time looking at me?
This landed me in a 12 yr nightmare marriage with a man who DIDN'T want me!! Which left me in worse shape!! But God always perseveres and He brought me to the right man at the right time and allowed him to begin healing my very badly damaged heart!
I love how this story is wrapped in a mystery (one of my FAVORITE genres!) to fill it out and give it life and volume and character!! Great job of doing both writing a mystery and a Christian encouragement and help book all in one! WOW!!
LOVED IT!! It is a keeper for me for sure! And when I keep a book ti is so I can read and savor it all over again and again.
DISCLAIMER:
I do feel like I need to add a bit of information here. This book is very true to real life. The author pulls no punches in the fact that the two main Characters are VERY sexually attracted to each other. WAIT!!! They both have sinned in the past and are trying to live by God's rules and guidelines and often find it hard when the sparks start to fly.
As a divorcee who remarried a Christian Man I know that every word she wrote is deadly true!! No matter how strong a Christian you are. If you have had any sexual experience before and you meet the RIGHT one that God has for you...sparks are going to fly!!
The two best ways in my opinion, to handle this is 1. NEVER BE ALONE!! It is just too tempting! We were so thankful for my three year old and his sister who lived with my son and I so we couldn't be alone!! AVOID!! 2nd. Hands and lips off till your wedding day! I know it sounds old fashioned but our desires can take over our brains until it is too late if we are not ever vigilant!! So a hands off policy is best so you don't go too far and regret it later.
I think everyone who has been through a breakup or divorce should be required to read this book.
I was sent this book for my personal review and opinion. The statements herein are mine and mine alone and no one accept I am responsible for what it says.

What a fun story! The humor caught hold of me on the first page and I had to keep reading. It also put me inside the character's heads and gave them tremendous personality. The main characters, Bethany and Jason, were very likeable. I appreciate that Lisa Buffaloe gave them a physical attraction to each other and showed how to overcome that. This is often missing from Christian Fiction books and that always frustrates me. The sub-characters were also a great addition. The plot moved along well, though my only complaint is the chase portions ended way before the end of the book. I would have held something back for the very end. Otherwise, a super read that I highly enjoyed!

Bethany and Jason are delightful characters in 'Prodigal Nights' by Lisa Buffaloe. Bethany's feisty inner ponderings and actions pulled me in and made me cheer for success in her life. Jason is a sincere man who wants to walk honorably with the Lord, yet he's pulled aside by his humanity too. I related to these characters, and the mystery in the story kept me wondering how it was all going to turn out. Good job, Lisa Buffaloe! This is a book I can recommend to Christian-fiction-romance readers everywhere.

Different opinion

Before reading a book, I check reviews. One review on this book was all about the lust and sex in this book and how disgusting that is. I actually felt like it was just about the right touch. This book portrayed how hard it is for a couple wanting to do what God wants them to do. I appreciate that in a book. The characters were quite realistic even though the relationship progressed quickly. I know how that can be in real life also. Well done Lisa.

Book reviee

I totally loved this book. The secret service men and body guards added some extra spice SNF kept it from being a too gooey love story.

Sitting on the edge of my weekend seat to finish reading about Bethany! My own daily prayers include our dear prodigal -- and may our Lord be honored and glorified with our testimonies.
This is the sequel to the award winning Nadia's Hope. Recommended for older teens and above. Please be prepared for some Christian suspense.

Maybe it’s just me, but I think this suspenseful romance is lacking a blurb that adequately entices. While it states the central conflict well, it does so in a way that feels slightly off-putting, which is a shame because I really enjoyed the book and would hate for potential readers to get scared off by the “goody-two-shoes” blurb. A simple read but with more meat than an inspirational Harlequin, I found the suspenseful parts creepy and exciting. You know how some books (and movies) keep up the intrigue by having the character’s distracted by one problem only to have another creep in while the reader wants to shout “look behind you!”? Well, I was immensely gratified in this book because the character’s were smart enough to put two and two together and know something more was going on. I always respect intelligent, realistic characters!

I also appreciated the perspective on the physical side of a Christian romance. So many inspirational romances gloss over that aspect of human physiology as if Christian’s are exempted from “temptations of the flesh”. It’s unrealistic and I’d rather a romance prepare young ladies for those feelings than pretend they don’t exist.

Frankly, the only part of the book I disagreed with was the opinion the main couple seemed to have that it was harder for them to “be good” because they knew what they were missing. Coming from someone who married the only man she ever dated, I distinctly remember how strong those physical temptations can be and I didn’t have past indiscretions fueling the desires.

I did also think two of Bethany’s coworker friends were rather stereotypical. I would have enjoyed it more if Rhonda, the solid Christian, had been the one with spiky, tinted hair. But that’s a personal preference of mine, always going against the stereotype, and I doubt any other reader would notice.

* I received this book free from the author. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. *
