I was a little bit unsure about this one because a girl who goes to another world and LOVES to clean? That sounded pretty out there for something I would be interested in, but I also couldn't stop thinking about the premise once I heard about it because that's extremely unique for an isekai AND shojo fantasy!

While I wasn't super hooked in the beginning, I can definitely say I'm here for it! Sakura is a really fun heroine to follow along and enjoyed seeing her sort of cause some "chaos" by asking people to hold the conversation so she could go clean. LOL! I also just really enjoyed seeing her love being here and thoroughly follow her passion of cleaning. I thought it a fun added bonus of the two different cleaning "hacks" given and definitely want to try the one for the pots!

The world-building was very interesting! I found I really enjoyed seeing all the different beasts/creatures which is a plus for me because fantasy isn't usually my go-to, but everyone is so different that I found myself looking forward to who we will see next. I also liked the Demon King and how he is really nothing like I imagined. LOL! (I mean that in the best way possible because he's pretty funny in his own lazy kind of way.) The curse was an intriguing concept and curious as to what the cure will be. (And with that, I admire how Sakura is able to show what REAL cleaning magic is.)

Overall, this was another win of a surprise pickup for me! I don't know anyone who had this on their radar or was even interested in it, but it's one I'm going to be picking up more volumes of! I want to see if she can break the curse, how the citizens will admire our "Saint" and her "cleaning magic" next, and a romance that I hope blooms soon!

This isn't bad, but it's not all that good, either. I think "serviceable isekai" is the best way to describe it.

This was really cute, and the humor of its absurd premise is captured well. However, I'm not sensing any romantic chemistry between our leads just yet. I'm hopeful that will change in future volumes.

It's such a weird quirk for a heroine to have, but it's just the wholesome sort of manga I enjoy.

So much to laugh at, wonderful quotes and memes to be found!

Oh my gosh, I laughed so much reading this! I kept finding little clips that I had to screenshot and text my friends. I think one of my favorite quotes is "no habla isekai" lol! There were some other really good moments too that I absolutely loved but I'm not going to put any more in here for spoilers.

As for a note on the storytelling, it has some beats that remind me of beauty and the beast. You have a immature King who is cursed by visiting which for being heartless. Although that's where it dramatically leaves the comparisons it does have a strong theme of the beast. Other than that, the story is not particularly sophisticated or fancy. It's just a laugh a minute, and sometimes that's all you need.

I have to give it points for creativity. I don't think I've ever read a story whose driving plot is a girl's mad skills at cleaning. I can't stop laughing. It's utterly ridiculous and that just makes it fun to read. I also like the demon king. He isn't the usual tyrannical ruler, or the sort to look down on a human or any of the other normal tropes. He's a lazy man who is just there for the perks and just lets her do her thing. Which is like the fantasy version of the odd couple.

2 stars for the art, the story was vague and just not it. Don't waste your time with this one. The FMC looks like a kid compared to the MMC, and there was no chemistry between them and I can't see it happening either.

A sweet (if a bit weak) shojo isekai romance! I'm not the biggest fan of isekai stories no matter if its shounen, shojo, seinen, or josei so my review might be a bit colored because of that. But I do enjoy shojo isekai in comparison to other demographics' isekais. And this was a great one!
The story was written pretty decently. The author, Saiko Wadori, notes her past experience with LNs which shows here. There is a genuine narrative here with a fun spin on Beauty and the Beast that ties into the Demon King healing and the namesake cleaning. The focus on cleaning was neat. I enjoyed the focus was more on the science and action of cleaning.
I do wish the romance was a bit stronger. The romance with the Demon King seems to be a slow burn romance with him having mental and emotional walls to keep his kingly looks up. His misfortunate situation as the Demon King (in the fitting words of the author) doesn't help him want to pursue love either. The romance is one of those where the male LI slowly develops feelings by the cute moments, doting, and continuous presence of the female LI. Personally that sorta romance is just ok to me. It didn't anything crazy with that formula so your appreciation of it depends on your appreciation of that sorta deal. But the romance is a real slow burn. I dont mind a slow burn but the slow burn also has to share and vie for page space against the slice of life isekai stuff so it ends up feeling weak and poorly developed in this first volume.
I found the art as passable. Mika Kajiyama is very strong at drawing handsome men. The Demon King is absolutely stunningly hot and the character design choices like the furled open chest only makes it better lol. The rest of the sorta reverse harem like Lehaye, Sadeen, and Luval all equally look handsome (although Luval and Lehaye's designs aren't my favorite kind in general). The character design, clothing detail, and ability to draw handsome men are eye-catching. But Kajiyama's art outside of hot men is a bit more basic. Some things end up looking a bit too simple especially in contrast to the men. As a side note, the story involves much of the dirtiness coming from a mysterious curse with ash. Personally, I don't like how the ash is drawn but I can see what they were going for.

It’s a crazy premise, but entertaining enough. Sakura is obsessed with cleanliness, to the point where she brings cleaning supplies everywhere she goes, but regularly forgets her wallet. Her unusual hobby apparently creates a distance with her classmates - though TBH I don’t think the author portrayed that very well. She seemed fine getting along with them, then suddenly a girl made one remark and you see Sakura being downcast.

She’s pulled to a strange world filled with demons…and filth. Due to a curse, cleaning spells don’t work, and that’s the only way they know how to clean. Sakura the saint to the rescue! You find that Sakura started her obsession with cleaning due to her mom claiming that ghosts like dirty rooms 😅

I find the romance to be forced and unnecessary, and I think it’s weird how the demon king appears to just be an idol….and his aide is always marketing him and the saint in various ways.

There are so many small things that get me here, like the "smeowsh" and the "oh, I stepped on a cat." ( ◜‿◝ )♡ LOL! Smeowsh had me laughing for a while. And then the "excuse me, but I'm about to snap" because it's so filthy, and the background scroll: SO DIRTY MUST CLEAN SO DIRTY MUST CLEAN SO DIRTY MUST CLEAN. You can't take this one seriously, except for cleaning. Sakura takes everything in stride far too easily and she loves cleaning to unhealthy levels, but on the other hand, there's a deft touch to the potential for blossoming romance. The Demon King touches his chest (heart) several times in understated panels and no attention is brought to it save for a panel near the final chapter. Through the words and art, you get a feel for the true character of these characters and I think that's pretty amazing, especially for a nonsensical rom-com.

The premise of this book is kind of funny and pretty lighthearted but seems to work for this series. Volume 1 introduces us to the main characters, and it does not take much to figure out how the series will go. With that said, the art by Mika Kajiyama is breathtaking and the story by Saiko Wadori is fun and lighthearted. The main character Takatsuki Sakura is a clean freak (I don't usually say freak...but if you read this book, you will understand, and it does not take long into the book to see it) and by the title you guessed it...becomes the Demon King's Housekeeper. My 12-year-old daughter liked the book and wants to continue reading the series. I think it is a fun book that is worth your time as it brings a lighter tone to life while reading it. Nothing too serious or too risky, just a fun manga series.

As of writing this review I've read volumes 1 - 10 (all that is currently out)

This series is so good!! I was a bit dubious at first because I was a little worried it was just going to be a simple "story" where Sakura cleans a different "monster/mess of the week", earning an increasing level of respect from the lazy Demon King....

It *IS* that but, it's also more! It's about as silly hilarious as you'd expect a cleaning-freak girl getting transported to a friendly demon realm would be, but it's also got other things going on... layers of mystery and intrigue to it (which I can't say all of here because spoilers) and a fascinating fantasy world to explore!

Can't wait for volume 11!!

Sakura doesn't really fit in at home with her obsession with cleaning things, however, that same passion has earned her the title of "Saint" in the demon world after she unexpectedly travels through dimensions to end up in this strange world. Thanks to a curse, cleaning magic no longer works and strange ash falls from the sky continuously. Only Sakura's standard cleaning "magic" from home (really just basic science and hard work) will clean anything. She's determined to make the best of things while she's there, but may have found a few odd friends along the way, including a certain demon king that comes across as incredibly lazy, but may also have a soft spot, at least for a certain Saint.

A cute and simple manga about a girl who loves to clean traveling to another world cursed to be covered in dust. The art style is very pretty, and the variety of characters are quite interesting. I’m a big fan of the grumpy x sunshine trope.

My complaint is that the heroine falls too hard into that stereotypical ditzy, naive, airhead cliche common for young female protagonists in manga and anime. It’s bland and annoying. Hopefully her character will develop as the story progresses in subsequent volumes.

Not going to lie, I wish I loved cleaning even half as much as she does. If I ended up in another world and it was covered in filth, I don't think I'd be remotely close to the level she is...like she's walking around smiling and laughing and has no quarrel cleaning for days on end. I'd straight up cry. After getting super annoyed and frustrated, of course. But the cheesy romantic in me is actually kind of intrigued...so I'm definitely buying volume 2.

Probably closer to 3.5. I love stories about housekeeping and food, so this appeals to me.

I kind of wish the female lead had longer hair as the haircut reminds me of young boys in manga, but that's not a big deal.

Her name is Sakura and then random Li Syaoran type shows up at the end lol

I plan on reading volume two so we'll see how it progresses.

A very cute, very funny manga! Though "high school girl gets sent to a magical world" is a fairly common trope, Sakura's endearing obsession with cleaning immediately sets her apart from similar protagonists.

The residents of the demon world hail Sakura as a Saint due to her cleaning skills - something alien to them due to their cleaning magic.

It has everything you want for a fun and engaging read, including romance, cute characters, and unique world building.

Very cute!

Cute with a simple story. Great characters and so far pretty cute and fluffy. Sakura seems to have an obsession with cleaning to the point where she has an uncontrollable urge to clean. It makes her happy. The demon king is lazy and just wants to live a leisurely life. They make a strange pair for sure. Definitely want to see where this goes in the next volume.

A comedy about a girl who got isekai'd into a world where nobody knows how to clean and that just so happens to be her hobby. They treat her like she's the Chosen One and practically worship her as a saint. The characters are fun and the story is laid back.

It also contains cleaning tips and tricks for the reader.

A surprisingly good and funny read as of volume one.

For Takatsuki Sakura, a trip to the library turns into a fantastical journey. She has been swept away to a grandiose castle ruled by a gorgeous demon king. Magic and wonder covers every room. Taking it in, Sakura can hardly breathe... because of all the dust and dirt. A curse has prevented this kingdom from cleaning. Only Sakura and her housekeeping knowhow can scrub away this dark magic grime!

that’s a good story.

It’s a good but very silly story. It doesn’t have much depth but it’s sweet. Demons here are just otherworldly people not the demons from Christian religion… So they’re not mean or ugly they’re just different.

Lighthearted shoujo with an absurd premise. It delivers what it says even if the cleaning component or instruction panels feel a bit forced. Doesn't seem to bring much originality or depth but this is just the setup volume.

The artwork is absolutely stunning, and the attention to detail is just outlandish.
The story itself is crazy, definitely one where I had to suspend my disbelief a lottt when it came to our FMC and the behaviour of the demon realm people, but it was a great time anyway.
A fun first volume!
