How to apply St. Thomas's teachings to modern society and why we must do so if we are to have any hope of leaving this world with our souls intact. Far from being an esoteric philosophical treatise, this book is eminently practical, engaging, and highly rewarding for any Catholic. Each chapter was originally an article in Integrity magazine.
----------------------------------------- Simply brilliant. This book is honestly incredible! Not at all predictable based on the title -- it's like an integral Catholic's guide to the modern world. Simply a must-read for all traditional Catholics, especially ones entering the work force. It forces us to put on a pair of Catholic glasses and re-examine the world. It's actually a call to beat the system! To do one's part to restore all things in Christ. Incredible pointers for Catholic Action. It's essentially a collection of articles from a magazine called "Integrity" -- the articles start on pg 41 after a long (perhaps tough) introduction. But persevere! Once you get to the articles themselves and then work through the first couple of them, you're set for the rest. It might require being able to draw on some previous knowledge (eg. making observations about socialism without explaining what socialism is at its core) to really get the most of it - this book tends to put things all together - but even without being well-versed in all the issues being discussed here, I think a careful read through would still yield tons of fruit. Highest recommendation!
This book is part of series, I am of the impression that this book was more abstract, inviting the reader into the authors worldview. There was a peppering of practical advice, but it did feel more abstract. Depending what the reader is looking for this could prove most helpful or frustrating, in the reviewers case, it helped confirm things that was unconsciously assumed and gave it words. Through this the why behind the practical advise was established. I do intend to buy the series.
