As a self-published children’s book author, I get really upset when I see books like these. I checked it out for my 7-year-old who is obsessed with space, but it’s baaaaaaad.
The concept of the story is ridiculous, as the astronaut mother leaves for space in the morning and arrives home for her daughter’s school play by the evening, even parking her rocket ship right outside the school. Children’s books don’t have to play by the rules of our universe, but as this book is attempting to teach children about planets and seasons, it should make an attempt.
The choice of comic sans font is unprofessional. Plus, there was a copy error on one of the pages, mislabeling the planets. I mean, come on. How does something like this get published?

Summary: This story is about a little girl whose mother is an astronaut. The girl is starring in a play at school entitles "Earth Dance." The play shows students acting as planets, seasons, etc. to show the way the earth rotates and what happens to it during that time.
Evaluation: This story was not a great example of a story with a plot, problem, solution, etc., but is very educational about the earth rotations. The illustrations are great and show the play and the mother in space simultaneously.
Teaching Point: I would use this book when teaching about the earth's rotations. I would even let my students act out the play like the children in the book did.

Since I enjoy astronomy, I was hoping to enjoy this book more, I didn't connect with it like I expected.
