It had been a terrible, devastating time in his life. Because of his skills, his people had made him chief scientist, quite an honor. When the invaders came, he did all he could to help against their onslaught, but it just wasn’t enough. The invaders were vicious cannibalistic killers, searching for meat and destroying everything in their path. As he fought along with the remainder of his people, their numbers slowly dwindled.
Suddenly he saw his wife and children captured, brutally murdered before his eyes. It was more than he could bear. He escaped down into his lab, turned on the equipment; then slowly walked thru the opening to a dark, damp corner of a room, where he sat down on the floor and cried.
