Sweet on You
Every autumn, Moonbright, Maine, is the picture of charm with its piles of crisp leaves, flickering jack-o'-lanterns...and a touch of the sweetest kind of enchantment.
Getting dumped was not how Lara wanted to start her day. Toss in an increase in her rent and an unsustainable job and things might not be able to get much worse. However, after a trip to Bellaluna's, she scores a new job working for Mayor Jack Hanson - planning the Halloween parade. The author does a good job at making your root for the heroine right away. Laura has a stroke of terrible luck and when we got introduced to our jock turned politician hero, I wanted nothing more than for Jack to notice her for the sweet and caring person she is. This book gave me the fall, small town vibes I've been craving and it was a fun read, but nothing crazy.

My thoughts:
🧁🍰🍪🪄✨️Sweet Magic by Donna Kauffman pages 3-128/130 - This was a completely different vibe than the first book, the last book was bordering NC-17 and this felt very PG-13 in the beginning. I was surprised it didn't open with f-bombs and 🐓, but the change in vibe added a lot of value to the plot line and I found this story much more enjoyable than the stories featured in Book 1. It does eventually get PG-15 bordering R but it will definitely give you bangxiety if you like things spicy, it's a big tease till the end.
💼🍪💘🧰🦸♂️ Love Spells Disaster by You by Allyson Charles pages 134-211/214 - Okay, This book must not be spicy. This one was my favorite so far.
🧁👨⚖️🦄 Sweet on You by Kate Angell pages 216-322/326 - This was good but fell short of the other two stories, but it had that NC-17 material I was expecting based on my experience with the first book.
This book centers around Sofia and her Italian Bakery as well as two Cassandras that go by Cassie. The last story felt a bit out of place but was better than the stories in book 1, despite the odd plot. I'm going to stop here for now, maybe save book 3 for next year.
Recommend to others: Yes. This was very good.

Here we are again in Moonbright!! This town sure loves Halloween and that bakery.
This time we follow Lara and Jack. Lara is having a DAY. Her job is in jeopardy because of slow business, she got dumped, and now her rent is going up. Joyful. However, things start looking up after a trip to Bellaluna's. She scores a free cookie and then a new job working for Jack who is the mayor and needs someone to plan and execute the Halloween parade. As they work together, feelings rise.
This was absolutely adorable. Lara is cute and Jack is hawt. The two are perfect for each other. They knew each other in High School, but they were on different social levels so they never really got to know each other. I really love how this was friendship and then more. It felt natural. I honestly don't think they needed that magical cookie to realize they are soulmates.
There wasn't much drama here and I appreciated it. Sometimes it is nice to see a couple just be together and fall for each other. However, I wish there had been something. Not drama, but something they had to overcome together. Everything was a little too easy. Even the "drama" at the parade seemed like nothing.
The narrator was good. Her male voices still sound all the same, but it's not a huge cast so you can't really notice. Maybe that is why she didn't need to change it up too much? I am curious to listen to more by this narrator. I've listened to a few in the past.
Overall, this was very sweet. A beautiful couple who are saints. They deserve the best in life. I do wish we had something. Everything went a little TOO easy for everyone. I'll give this 4 stars.

⭐️ 3/5. This was a cute fall romance read that is great if you’re looking for a quick Hallmarky romance with small town Halloween vibes. However, the romance didn’t have much substance, went 0-100 in less than 2 weeks, and the MMC gave me the ick bc it seemed like he was lowkey stalking the FMC at times 😂

Sweet on You by Kate Angell is a Halloween Lifetime Movie style novel. While unrealistic and a bit cheesy, it's a cozy, quick, and cheerful story.
