This book clarifies the basic principles of dressage and explains how to apply them with all kinds of horse and ponies. It describes in detail how horsemanship is judged as one rides a test and outlines how the rider should work to make steady progress.
A well-written, short and entertaining book aimed at anyone just starting out in Dressage. Although I don't think of myself as a beginner, I found it a great overview and a couple of concepts were so well explained that they suddenly made a lot more sense in my little head! There are lots of great little drawings to help as well. In fact the only thing I could pick up that made me smile, was adding bucking as a lesser evil than not being on the bit!
A quote near the end I really liked too "Work hard and constructively, and remember that the amateur practises until he can do it right - the professional practises until he cannot do it wrong."
This book is good if you are just beginning dressage and don't know very much about it. If you are wanting a quick overview, then this book is for you.
