A life altering motorcycle adventure to circumnavigate Australia and Tasmania that spanned over 14,000 miles in 19 days! The almost Zen-like transformation I experienced, becoming “one” with my surroundings, brought a deep awareness of the wind rushing against my frame as the distinct smell of oncoming storms alerted me to the approaching sensation of a rainfall’s needle-like stings.
It is the remembrance of such things that rekindles the vibrancy of my existence. Like most others, I get caught up in the daily conflicts and priorities of life, whether it’s work-related or involves keeping up with my kids and our family life at home. I believe as we grow older, we fall from the grace of being able to appreciate the basic qualities of our existence, and we become more and more entangled by artificial values that distort and diminish our lives. How often have we taken for granted the simple, primary observances in life? I can’t remember the last time I turned over a fallen leaf and traced the veins with my finger, wondering as young children do, about the miracle and magnitude of its construction.
The dream which haunted and challenged me to seek this adventure would soon thrust me into the searing reality of unbelievable personal discovery.
