I was gifted this arc in return for an honest review.
Canaries is set during WW1 and WW2
Wilhelm Canaris was a real life Admiral in Hitler's army...He was also working to collapse the Nazi regime.
A spy who was both feared and admired.
This book tells a story of him looking back. It's not an easy read at times. Plenty of twists and turns. In this part fact, part fiction tale of a man who gave all for his country.
A well written, researched, interesting story.
This is the first time for me reading this author and would definitely recommend especially if you have an interest for historical events and both wars.

This is a thrilling book that tells the story of someone who was bold enough to risk it all to stand against one of history's greatest villains.

Not only is there enough twists and turns to satisfy fans of any espionage or spy thriller, there is a healthy bit of history packed in as well.

Be sure and pick up this fascinating, exciting take on a true story and learn about Canaris, the German officer who risked it all to stand against Hitler.

I’d like to thank the author for an ARC of this and my review is honest.

I do not normally read books in this genre but this was captivating. Canaris led a double life to which it made him a very dangerous person, he tried to stop communism from taking over his land. It was a very interesting book and I enjoyed it.

📖ARC REVIEW🔥

“Canaris” by Ryan Krol

Genre: Historical novel
Pages: 401
Language: English
Release date: 2022

🔥If you want to find yourself in the middle of historical events with lots of spying intrigues, this book is what you need.

🔥The Plot:  We follow Admiral Wilhelm Canaris – one of the most controversial and interesting personalities in world history. One of the most dangerous spies of his time, head of the Military Intelligence in Nazi Germany in 1935-1945, the top member of the German High Command, was also a member of the internal resistance against Adolf Hitler. Playing a dangerous double game in his career, he imperiled the future of his beloved wife and daughters. You can find out how far one of the most dangerous spies went to have a clear conscience by reading this brilliant novel.

🔥The Writing Style: It’s my third book by this author. It differs much from the previous two, but still, I enjoyed reading it. A cleverly and well-thought-written novel is a perfect combination of half-fiction and non-fiction. The author combined real historical events with fiction episodes, creating a captivating and grabbing attention novel full of numerous and intense twists. This is not light reading, but the author successfully depicted the uneasy historical time and dramatic events in a light writing manner.

🔥The Characters: There is an ocean of characters in this book. But don’t be scared; the world-building is easy and understandable from the first pages. All personalities are portrayed and introduced cleverly and step by step, so you’ll settle appropriately in this time and events fast.

🔥Would I read other books by this author: Definitely!

⭐️My humble rating is: 5/5

Canaris was a sort of biographical book written by Ryan Krol. I received an Arc copy and was asked to give an honest review about.

Firstly, I'm not a big fan of biographical books, but I was extremely curious once I realized the topic and the huge influence Wilhelm Canaris had during the Second World War.

Canaris, as he was known, was highly recognized because of his position as Admiral in the German Navy but mainly as head of the Abwehr, the primary military intelligence agency of Nazi Germany. His peers considered him as the best intelligence officer in Germany, but he did not wear a Nazi armband. Yeah, that was also because he worked as a double spy, sending as much detail he could to the allies.

So, even though I don't usually read the style, I enjoyed the writing style very much. It was very clear and easy going. Thus, it kept me reading even when I knew where things were heading.
