Demons are real. You might not be… No longer living in a simulation, January Day finds herself the subject of unwanted attention. She is the first of her a digital consciousness inside a human body. Haunted by memories of travelling through imagined realities, she struggles to come to terms with her new life. When a new governor of the city comes to power, his aim is to save a dying planet. He is ready to outlaw architects from creating imagined realities, including Elijah, for good. As January struggles to leave her demons behind, a new one raises its head, bringing with it more nightmares that she must endure if she is to find peace, and save countless realities from destruction.
Seth Rain lives in the Black Country, in the UK, waking far too early in the morning to write dystopian science fiction novels. Having studied English and Philosophy at University, he went on to attain a Master of Arts in English Literature. He has been a fan of dystopian and science fiction stories for some time and is now embarking on writing a series of novels of his own.
When he's not writing, Seth teaches English to 11-18 year olds. And when he's not writing, or teaching children, he spends time with his own two teenage children, his girlfriend, films, music and above all, books.
I was given an ARC of this book and I enjoyed it, like I knew I would, having read the others in the series.
The premise of this story is intriguing – what is real, what is an illusion, what makes us real? January Day thought she was real in her world and yet she saw things that should have been impossible. As the story continues, January is plunged into those impossible things.
Electronic Demons sees January continually question what is going on. Who can she really trust and what is real?
I love the fast-paced writing style, the overall concept and intelligent questions. There are heroes and villains and plenty of action, thoughts and feelings that bring depth to this intriguing tale.
I always like strong female leads and January is certainly that, although, she has her vulnerable side, her determination to do what’s right is brilliant.
In this brilliant third 'Imagined Realities' novel , January Day, special as she is, finds herself the object of attention from the new governor, who is attempting to rid the world of all imagined realities and all architects.
January is a great character, determined and strong of mind. She's adjusting to life in basic reality while fighting the governor's plans with a fiery passion. I am in awe of her. Just like I'm in awe of Seth Rain, who imagined her !
Good end to the series, the lines get blurry between what is and isn’t intelligence, self awareness, life. Can life truly be life if it’s digital. Is pulling the plug murder or just turning off a game? Plenty of twists to this book, and a particularly explosive finish.
January Day is now in the real world. Things aren't what she hoped for. There is a looming war and the new leader wants to entirely abolish the Imagined Realities.
Expect a lot of action, a lot of death and a huuuuuuuge twist.
Matrix eat your heart out there's a new player in town.
An excellent third book in this well written, riveting British sci fi adventure series! Following January in her struggle to save the worlds! Brilliant ideas & storyline, it takes you on a whirl wind adventure, an amazing part to this story! I do recommend!
Received an audio copy to review from the author, this is an honest review. Narrated beautifully by Emily Mount, as she delivers another impactful helming of the next chapter of this series.
From the day January met Elijah, her life has never been the same as she has traveled through countless imagined realities, confronting the harrowing and confusing worlds crafted by the Architects. Brought out of these simulations to "true" physical reality, January is at a loss of why Elijah has brought her there. But one ruthless person, Luther; is determined to shut down the illusionary realities at any cost to those whom stand in his way. He especially takes out this cruelty upon the Architects by subjecting them to exist in hellish worlds... doomed to be repeatedly murdered by daemonic creatures. Determined to not let this be anyone's fate, January with a rebellious group of fighters; will wage war upon Luther to allow the imagined realities to continue to flourish, along the way January discovers just how important she truly is for both realities. A memorable, haunting journey to an already explosive series, highly recommended.
