What happens when a girl with the worst luck ever meets a guy with all the luck in the world?

Risk assessor Charley Claybourne has always known her luck pretty much . . . well, sucks. Getting soaked in lactose-free chocolate milk thanks to a hunkylicious, blue-eyed stranger is bad enough. But discovering that he's her new billionaire client, and could make or break her career? Oh hi, it's me, the icing on top of the world's most craptastic cake.

Now Charley has to decide if Chris Lachlan, Disney prince made flesh, is a good risk to be CEO of his family's billion-dollar corporation. You know, if a reckless adrenaline junkie--who eats the unhealthiest food known to man and has dated cartel princesses, thieves, and actual spies --could ever qualify as the "good" kind of risk.

But Charley isn't immune to the charms of this hot, trouble-seeking billionaire. And as luck would have it, she'll have to choose between trashing her career . . . or falling head-over-broken-heels for the biggest risk of her life.

USA Today bestselling author Kira Archer lives in Pennsylvania with her hubs and two kids. And 3 ridiculous cats. She's one of those people who laughs at inappropriate moments (especially overly emotional occasions like weddings or funerals), and she has an insanely overactive imagination which is great when she's writing but not so great when she's shutting all the lights off at night and then has to go up the stairs. She has a PhD in Procrastination (or would if there was such a thing and there soooo should be because she's seriously at expert level here). And if she's not writing, she's reading, or thinking about reading or writing. And running her kids around because they are busy and she's the taxi driver. She also writes historical romances as Michelle McLean.

This was such a cute, fun opposites attract read!

description

Let go from her job, Charley is trying to start her own assessment company. When her new client, the one who could really get her name out there, ends up being the same man who tried to steal her milk, she’s got concerns. He’s a complete adrenaline junkie, lives an outrageous life and she’s extremely attracted to him. But when her best friend finagles them into going on a trip together, she’s wondering who the risk taker is now?

’He was nothing but the shiny object that would derail her from her plans. The bell to her bird. The squirrel to her dog. Her kryptonite.’

description

Despite being careful about everything in her life, Charley always ends up in one botched up situation or another. She’s adorkable, accident prone, and too cute for words. I enjoyed watching her try to avoid her attraction to Chris, knowing it was a losing battle.
’He was like a great big ball of golden sunshine that warmed and cheered everyone around him, no matter what their intentions. The man was contagious.’

description

Chris lives for the adrenaline high, living life on the edge. I loved that he challenged Charley and drew her out of her protective shell.

’The woman had uptight down to a science. And he knew just how to make her unravel.’

From the very beginning they had a spark that grew into intense heat. Their reasons for ignoring the chemistry between themselves believable.

This couple were so much fun together. The banter is sharp and quick, cute and engaging. There were some hilarious moments as Charley got herself, and him by association, into various situations. I was a bit disappointed that this character trait tended to die down as the story progressed. However, it was enough to enjoy the thought that the risk assessor was more at risk than the one being assessed.

This is a story that will immediately pull you in due to the meet cute and then the continued cute which eventually moves into emotional involvement between the hero and heroine. The conflict was a bit under thought but didn’t take long to resolve. The angst level is definitely low and the heat, once they gave in, was pretty steamy. Mostly, this is just a great feel good story with wonderful characters that make you smile.

DNF at 27%.

Charley Claybourne is an insurance assessor. She's started up her own business and is about to meet her new client, the billionaire daredevil Chris Lachlan who she has sort of won under false pretences because he thinks she still works for one of the most prestigious firms of loss adjustors in the city. Desperate to calm her nerves she tries to buy some lactose-free chocolate milk only to get into a tug-of-war with a handsome guy over the last bottle. Of course there's a chocolate milk related accident and of course the guy is her new client.

I enjoyed the previous books in this series but I couldn't believe in either Chris or Charley and what felt charming, endearing, funny and sweet in the previous books felt laboured. I can't put my finger on what I didn't like. Maybe its the idea of two adults fighting over chocolate milk?

Anyway I picked it up and put it down twice - no point in carrying on if reading feels like a chore.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This was the first book from this author that I have read and it was an ok read for me. This was book 4 in the series and it could be read as a standalone. They first meet fighting over chocolate milk. Christopher and Charley were an ok couple. They never really seemed like they should be together and that is what made them an ok couple to me. There was no real heat in this story and I do like my stories with a little heat. If you are looking for a sweet romance then this is the story for you.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I wasn't impressed, I couldn't believe they had deeper feelings for each other. They didn't share 'I love you's and it felt more like a HFN then HEA, the story lacked romance and heart. So sad, since I loved the first book in the series but all the other novels weren't better than mediocre.

I thought this was a cute romance book. It was a bit crazy at times but I had plenty of laughs.
When the two main characters meet in a grocery store and start fighting over the last lactose chocolate milk, you know it's going to be a funny story. Only to have the chocolate milk bust and go everywhere.
Chris is the CEO of his family business and has to have a risk accessor evaluate whether they can give him insurance. He's a huge risk taker like jump off a plane going skydiving kind of guy.
Charlie is a risk accessor that is trying to prove she can take big clients and make a name for herself. She does everything by the book including life.
When Chris sees that Charlie is his risk accessor he can't believe it. Their mutual friend talks them into letting Charlie go with Chris on a trip to multiple of his properties that he needs to check on. Charlie soon realizes how fly by the seat of his pants Charlie really is.

This review was originally posted on my review blog Deanna Reads Books
Pushing his Luck is actually book four in this Billionaire Romance Series by Kira Archer. I felt like you could read this book having not read the others, I didn't, but there were some places where I was kind of confused. Like it's not described that well how Izzy and Chris know each other. I think it must be more in the other books. It's not a deal-breaker, but I did find myself scratching my head a couple times while I read this.

This book is a short romance, and the heat level I would say is in the medium-zone. There are some sexy times, but I felt like they were relatively tame. The Chemistry between Chris and Charley was great in this one, and I did really like the romance stuff in this one.

The plot about Charley starting her own company though, that seemed to fall a little flat. I thought there was going to be more to it, and then she ends up just doing something else. I almost thought that she was going to start playing in a band again, and I was really disappointed that that never happened. I think there was a lot to Charley and this book that could have been fleshed out a little more.

I did find the book a fun read, but it just felt like something was lacking when I finished reading it. I'm not sure what though. I did really like that they are a couple not interested in marriage or kids! YAY! I love to see couples like that, because not everyone is interested in that.

This is a fun, sweet and short romance between Christopher Lachlan and Charley Claybourne. Right from the start of the story, where we have the meet cute over gluten free chocolate milk, I knew I was going to like these two characters.
Christopher Lachlan is the CEO of his own vacation home rental company. He has a meeting with Charley, the risk assessor, to get insured and remain CEO. (I have to admit, I was a little confused by this. Shouldn't he already have insurance?) Charley is trying to start up her own business as a risk assessor and Chris is her first potential client. Chris is a risk-taker in life. He likes to try adventurous things--skydiving, zip lining, scuba diving, etc. Charley is the exact opposite.
She is talked into going on a business trip with Chris, where he will be checking out his properties, so she can see what happens and assess the risk involved.
Chris and Charley were adorable and sweet together. The things that happen to Charley are quite funny--from the chocolate milk incident to the spider in the car to the poker fiasco. It was an enjoyable, quick read.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Chris is not a shameful man when it comes to his body parts, “good.” He stood up, putting her eye level with his soaking wet boxer briefs that did absolutely nothing to hide anything...." I liked this book, I liked Chris.

I really liked this one. It’s a fast read, I love Charley and how uptight she is. I love Chris and his adventurous nature but also how he pulls her out of her shell little by little. This would make a great vacation read :)

Charley needs a job, well, more specifically, she wants to start her own company after the loss of her most recent position. Knowing how much is riding on one account, and that she's prepared to win it, she's ready to chug some chocolate milk beforehand. Of course, that's easier to do when someone isn't trying to steal, err take it, first. Chocolate cravings are real and cannot be denied, though she might've been tempted to let the good-looking man have it...but her lapse in thinking logically didn't last long.

Romance readers know where this is going. The man on the opposite end of the tug-of-war is, of course, the new client. Ironically, Charley is known for being careful in well, everything, and Chris is the exact opposite. Then again, maybe that's exactly what they each need.

But what about her professional dreams? Is that more important than what their hearts want?

One-click now and follow along as a meet cute turns into forever. On a side note, the set up is adorable and I liked the characters, but the Hero's ex still being a part of his life, as in within a group of friends, tainted my enjoyment of it. If it hadn't been for that...

Thank you Entangled Publishing for giving me an arc copy to read and review via NetGalley. All of these thoughts are my own.

If you’re looking for a cute and fast paced romance then this book is for you. This was a cute little read. It’s really short which was nice because some romances are just drug out and I lose interest. It wasn’t really a book I’d pick for myself because I just didn’t connect with the characters but I think others who really love romance would enjoy this.

Thanks again for an ARC copy!

I had to give this 3 Stars because even though I kinda liked the story i had problems:

-Chris and Charley just never really hit me as a good couple
-The plot about his lifestyle being the pivot point for keeping his job rang false
-There seemed to be pushing "women power" almost to the point of it becoming political
- Very important point is I didn't really like the ending
- and finally of all the books in this series this was the least entertaining and really looked like she phoned it in when you compare it to the other books in this series which I really enjoyed.

I could probably talk more but bottom line? It was a lame effort in comparison to all the other books in this series and at 150 pages it seemed like a lot less effort went into this story and it showed.

Pushing His Luck by Kira Archer a four-star read that will leave you craving. I did really enjoy this story, the only thing was that for the first half of the story I kept feeling like I was missing something, like this was part of a series and I hadn’t read the previous stories. But in the second half I did feel like I was getting somewhere and knew what was happening. The cute and funny story is great and so flirty and sweet, I will be sure to pick up more from the author as I did enjoy the writing. Chris and Charley have good chemistry and the travel is sublime.

I really shouldn't give this author so many stars each time. She's extremely repetitive. Her characters flip flop WAY too often in their thoughts. Every single book she writes is exactly the same.
Heroine and Hero constantly at war with themselves over should I or shouldn't I I will or I won't. And there's always a break up where both MCs friends have to talk sense into them and then one (99% the hero) makes the play to win them back. Absolutely EVERY book of hers does this.
But each storyline is actually good and lots of funny moments. But after this book I'm done until the author can work on everything she's doing wrong.

Why on earth would she make the heroine Izzys cousin when the hero was in a long term relationship with Izzys best friend and roommate? AWKWARD

One thing I've liked about Kira is she rarely has inconsistencies in a series and/or book. But this is a big one
“I’m Cass Coy,”
“Charley Claybourne, pleased to meet you,”

They've already met. Not only is Charley's cousin Cass roommate and BFF, Charley had met all the other wives when they went to a club opening of Cass.

The Epilogue was the worst but I'm finally done

He's a billionaire who also happens to be an adrenaline junkie. She's a risk assessor who has been hired to determine if he can be insured so he can remain the head of his company. Based on information obtained about him, she's thinking he's too big of a risk. When their mutual friend Izzy suggests she accompany him on a trip to review his many properties so she can get a better idea of the real him, she says okay. After driving an ATV, ziplining, and watching him running with the bulls in Spain, she sees all the precautions he takes and wonders if her original assessment is correct.

I loved this story and the two main characters were adorable. She's a control freak. She has her reasons. He's an adrenaline junkie and has his reasons. Sparks fly when they meet and even though they keep trying to resist, the sparks become flames.

This was a light, quick read. The writing flowed well, although the story wasn't my favorite. Charley is made out to be an accident prone risk assessor, but really the clumsiness stop right after she meets Chris. Charley has this tragic thing happen in her past to make her the way she is, but it's given like 1 paragraph towards the end to explain it, and she's not even the one telling the story. At least Chris's reasons for being a thrill seeker are told by him. The drama was over in a few pages, and they get their HEA. Well, I guess a form of it. Not really my idea of a "happily ever after". Although this wasn't my favorite, I will read this author again.

This is a hard book to review because I don't have any strong feelings about it. It was a quick listen. Charley and Chris had a fun adventure with her being risk adverse and him living life to the fullest. There were some funny moments and the way they fell in love was cute. It would be perfect if you're looking for a light romance read. It's just not one I see myself thinking about long after I finished it.

wow

Wow, just wow! I have fallen in love with Charlie and Chris. It’s amazing how two people with opposite personalities click and come together. They balance each other perfectly. This is my favorite book of the series. No one has unrealistic expectations they are just happy to be. Hope there will be more from these characters.

This series would have been better with a different narrator. I kept listening because I was genuinely interested in the stories, and they weren't very long. However, the narrators decision to play all the female characters with the same "come hither" voice was super annoying. Every sentence!! Ugh. I'm sad to say that she is now on my no listen list.

Too god to be true

These characters are so well written, that I want one of these men for myself. The ending was a little cheesy, but they are fast romantic reads that make you sigh. Maybe we will see what happens with Izzy or Cass next?

Laugh out loud funny. The decision about whether to marry and/or have kids kind of came out of the blue at the end, I would have liked to see a little foundation built earlier in story. Otherwise, I loved it.

This series proved to be a lot of fun; it was lighthearted, romantic, humorous, silly, and sweet—the ideal diversion from everyday life. This story concluded the series nicely, and even though none of the books were as good as the first, it was still worth it. The audio was excellent.

Pushing His Luck was obviously part of a series- not just part of but ended a series, and I did feel like I missed out on a ton of plot points by reading this without the others. I do think you could read as a standalone but you will miss a lot. Chris and Charley are a cute couple but I feel like I got hints of a backstory about why they are the way they are, but no actual resolution to anything. You do get a nice ending and prologue, so it is still satisfying.
