When Tessa Torrance, newly minted royal and wife of Prince Dante, becomes the target of a suspected assassination attempt, her mother's first instinct is to ask Tessa's old friend Odelia Poole to track down the would-be assailant. Odelia, Chase and Odelia's grandmother are flown over to England and move into Newtmore Cottage with Tess and Dante. They soon find themselves in over their heads when the hits keep on coming and things get very hairy indeed. Good thing Odelia's cats have traveled along with her to the Land of Hope and Glory, in a bid to lend support to Tessa's English bulldog Fluffy. All the cats can think of, though, is meeting those most famous pets of the Queen's corgis. But when Gran gets it into her nut that she wants to be Queen of America, things quickly spiral out of control. Will Odelia and Chase be able to save the Duchess of Essex from certain death? Will Gran become America's first Queen? And if that's the case, who will be First Cat? Find out in Purrfectly Royal, Max's most regal adventure yet.
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
Max and friends are in England. Someone is trying to kill a member of the royal family.
Grandma has decided that she is going to be the Queen of the United States and plans on getting advice from the Queen. The cats are not impressed by the royal Corgis, with whom they are kidnapped.
The Corgi’s may be royal but they are still just dogs!
Odelia, Chase, and Odelia’s grandmother have arrived at Newtmore Cottage in England to find out who is trying to kill Odelia’s friend Tessa. Tessa has been targeted ever since she married Prince Dante but the attempts are getting worse. Fortunately, Max, Dooley, Brutus, and Harriet have come along with Odelia to help solve the case. They are enjoying the royal treatment they receive, but soon discover royal English dogs aren’t all that much different than regular American dogs.
I enjoy this series with its interweaving of animal and human investigators. Dooley is always humorous and the different perspectives of the felines as they search for suspects and clues keep it interesting.
Odelia and her investigating team include her devoted cats! Someone was trying to kill the American wife of an English Duke and so off they went to England to save the day. It seemed a losing fight with suspects popping up everywhere but finally with determination and feline intuition, they succeed. A humorous story with lots of "catty" dialogues to make one laugh!
When Odelia's childhood friend, former actress and current Duchess of Essex, narrowly escapes death, those closest to her believe she was the target of an attempted assassination. Wanting to keep such a scandal under wraps, Tessa's mother invites Odelia, Chase, and Gran to England to help with the investigation. Naturally, Odelia brings all four cats along. What they learn is that Tessa has no shortage of haters, from staff who claim she's "difficult", to overbearing paparazzi, to Prince Dante's friends who lament that he's no fun anymore because of Tessa, and those in society who think the Prince should have married a nice English girl. The cats, led by Max, do their own sleuthing, leading them to be kidnapped along with the Queen's corgis. It seems no one in the royal family will be safe until the would-be killer is caught.
It's clear that Harry and Megan are the latest targets of the author's lampooning, but at least it was a departure in scenery. The story was fun for the most part, although I could have done without Gran being her usual moronic self. She now feels she should be the Queen of America. Her behavior isn't funny; it's tedious. I did enjoy meeting the corgis. Plotting was a tad sporadic--more a series of scenes than a smooth-flowing narrative.
This deserves 3.5 stars. I'll be kind and elevate it to four.
The Royal Prince Dante has married American Tessa Torrance and they have a baby girl. However, Tessa is not popular with the British media. And now someone is trying to kill her. There have already been two attempts.
Tessa's mother asks Odelia to come to England to find the culprit. So Odelia, Chase and Gran, along with the four sleuth cats, are flown to England by private jet. There are further attempts to kill Tessa as well as a cat/dog- napping from which further clues are gathered.
Odelia, Gran, and the cats help out Odelia's childhood friend who has married a British prince when she fears that attempts are being made on her life. They fly to England in a private jet and stay in Newtmore Cottage with the royals. Much to Gran's delight, they meet the queen and the cats get to meet (and rescue) her Corgis.
I thought this was a silly but cute installment in this series. This series makes a nice in-between books book for me. They are fun and funny, short and easy, and doesn't require lots of thinking. I am enjoying this series of books. Puurfectly Royal takes us to England which was fun and interesting, if not a bit silly at times. I look forward to reading book 14.
I cant get enough of these fun cats and their humans. And since I have 2 cats I know how well trained I am and I can’t actually understand them every once in a while. Lots of fun😻😻
I found this book a bit slow. I am a cat person but, four cats constantly arguing about which one is the most loved/smartest/best looking got old for me. The mystery is a good one.
I loved this book; making a trip to England and solving an attempted murder made it very interesting. All the animals talking to each other helped move the story along also!
What a fun read. Just the light note I was looking for for a restful read. Well done! This is the first of this series that I've read. I'll be on the lookout for more.
My least favourite of the series so far. Too many errors, not least of which was the cats just skipping quarantine. I appreciate its fiction, but as a British reader it was annoying. It felt like it was rushed to tie in with a certain royal couple.
Everyone travels to England and meets the queen and her corgis. Royalty and kidnapping animals and find out who is trying to kill the new wife to a prince.
This book takes place in England where Tessa an American actress has married a prince and is being targeted. The cats and the Queens corgis to the rescue
Nice change of pace and location in this volume of Max the cat mysteries there was interplay between the queens corgis and the cats of the Hamptons that was quite enjoyable to read.
Super cute and super funny!!! I love that they all are broadening their horizons by going out of country. This one was an easy who dunnit. Happy Reading :)
