Prince Helios is dead. At least that's what the Crown has convinced the public, but King Rion and Princess Sunder know better. That's why the king sends Sunder out to hunt down her brother. Meanwhile, Clora and X5 are on the run again. The Grace Rebellion has been chased out of Savai and now face the struggle of crossing the Valetian desert. But before they can even get close to their home nation, they must get through the dreaded mountains. Bandits, Aliens, and hostile lifeforms threaten them every step of the way. Not to mention rumors of a certain exiled prince taking up shelter in a hidden village.
Our heroes have a new set of challenges to overcome, but the focus of the Rebellion remains. While Clora and X5 struggle with the rumors of Prince Helios being alive, Bastion must keep his dream alive and fight for the freedom of Skel alone. They have unlocked the Core of the Soldier S187, but she proves to be more of a hindrance than a help when she deliberately sabotages one of their missions and puts the entire Rebellion in danger.

I love this series but this book took me longer to get through. Lots of internal thought dialogue which I understand was needed to move the story along but sometimes I’d forget the actual scene going on. Lots of big moments though, jaw dropping actually but also slow ones. I’m excited for the final book and have fallen in love with New Earth!
