The Sun Sword

Rate this book
She has the power to bring new life…or utterly destroy it. Torin Kerridon, the last warrior from an ancient order, is drawn to an abandoned, dying Earth, where he finds a forgotten young woman. A woman forged by the Immortals to wield the ultimate weapon—the Sun Sword. A woman capable of commanding the power of the suns. A woman with no past and no memory, the body of an angel and the spirit of a demon. He will train her. Prepare her. Hunted all her life, Kala Rei has endured more than one woman should. Sheer grit, and a dangerous skill with a lead pipe, are the key to her survival. But nothing threatens her sense of safety more than dominance-oozing Torin. He wants her, but not for what’s between her legs. For what he believes her to be—some ludicrous savior from some absurd prophecy. No matter…his offer to take her away from Earth is too good to refuse. But when a savage desire begins to burn between them, both Torin and Kala are in danger—and so are the worlds of man.

Lexxie Couper

Lexxie’s not a deviant. She just has a deviant’s imagination and a desire to entertain readers with her words. Add the two together and you get darkly erotic romances with a twist of horror, sci-fi and the paranormal.

When she’s not submerged in the worlds she creates, Lexxie’s life revolves around her family, a husband who thinks she’s insane, a indoor cat who likes to stalk shadows, two yabbies hell-bent on destroying their tank and her daughters, who both utterly captured her heart and changed her life forever.

Having no idea how old she really is, Lexxie decided to go with 27 and has been that age for quite some time now. It's the best of both worlds - old enough to act mature, young enough to be silly.

And silly she can be. Just ask her husband who frequently has to endure her bursting into song whenever the mood strikes her, feeling him up in public (one of her favorite pastimes), or rolling around in the sand with their dog - a large mutt of dubious origins who causes almost as much havoc around the neighborhood as Lexxie herself. Or squealing her way down the slide at the local park with her daughter!

Lexxie lives by two simple rules - measure your success not by how much money you have, but by how often you laugh, and always try everything at least once. As a consequence, she's laughed her way through many an eyebrow raising adventure.

I've read Lexxie Couper before but never, until now, have I read her at her best. This book is ridiculously good! On the complete opposite side of the scale as my last read of hers, Savage Transformation. Stick with this, Lexxie. This is beyond wicked!

This was a bit odd. An erotic sci-fi-ish. Mot really one or the other, so I’ll just mark it as ok.
There are two competing prophets, with two competing champions and a woman between them and the mythical sword. It’s a struggle the woman endures, both good and bad.
Good story but not great 3/5

First paragraph:
Prologue
Earth calendar 2445
Torin Kerridon walked down the rubbish-strewn street, studying the derelict buildings, stunted fauna and polluted sky. So, this is Earth.

Although "The Sun Sword" is written by one of my favorite erotica authors, this one failed to deliver for me. Lots and lots of violence against women in this so-called romance, and every female character in the book has been or is being raped (with the exception of the old Oracle, but she got threatened a couple of times). So, unless you're all right with these hard-core elements in your romance, you might want to pass.

This short novel flourishes when it comes to taut action and suspense, as well as combustible chemistry between the hero and heroine. However, it often felt very overwritten, with florid prose that gives no reprieve to allow the description to actually have any kind of impact. Readers sensitive to gruesome violence and truly dark antagonists (these use the blood of women for their misdeeds, with the sidekick getting the privilege of using and abusing those women first) probably should stay away.
