Equal measures of horrifying and heartbreaking!

Jessica Jackson has once again shone a spotlight into one of the darkest recesses of man’s inhumanity in this chilling, yet compelling, collection of heart-rending true tales of abuse resulting in the death of innocent children. While it may seem inconceivable that such horrendous actions could be a part of modern society, the author recounts astonishing statistics which will haunt you long after you have finished reading this book. In this book we experience the miserable lives and tragic deaths of 8 different children, ages 2-13. Their stories are told from different perspectives and each includes a brief summary of facts from the child’s case after the narrative. While the subject material will have you reaching for the tissues, I think it is important for people to be aware such things can and do happen every day. This book will teach you about the failings of the education system, the healthcare system, social services, law enforcement and society, in general. It will teach us to recognize and to act when something “seems off”. I think it is important that we all carry these children’s stories in our hearts and the lessons we learn from their stories in our heads. If enough people pay attention, maybe we can make a difference in the next child’s life.

I was provided with an advance copy of this book for which I thank the author, but my honest and unbiased review is offered voluntarily.

A Voice For The Children

As a former victim of child abuse myself, it puzzles me how some of these perpetrators who were abused as children could grow up and go on to harm their own child or stepchild. I have always believed that all children deserve love, protection, having their basic needs met, good memories, loving parents and to feel safe within their own home! To harm a child is depravity at its worst and the fact that so many do not get justice is an outrage that must be stopped!
Ms. Jackson has clearly researched the children and families she writes about. Also clear is her caring for these precious children and her dedication to giving them a voice! In their homes, no one listened or could and did successfully intervene. This book and others like it tell the world what the child couldn't get across before.
This book is HARD to read, make no mistake. However that is due to the difficult subject matter rather then the quality of the writing. The author writes clearly and concisely which in my opinion is exactly what is needed for this type of book. I don't feel it would come across as serious as the topic is if she had for instance, gotten side tracked with long drawn out descriptions of weather, the quality of the living environment, what mom made for dinner the night before a child died or things along those lines. Equally, flowery descriptions of love or someone having "meant well but snapped" just would not be real or appropriate. You don't go from nice guy or gal next door who seems like a loving parent to monster with zero coping skills and self control who wakes up one random day and begins abusing their child until one day said child dies! These things don't "just happen" and I too hope and pray if you SEE or SUSPECT a child is being hurt, DON'T walk away --unless it's to call for help in private. These perpetrators COUNT on your silence -- don't give it to them!
Well done book. I would recommend!

Short, Traumatic History Of
The Parents/Caregivers

Readers will find This book very hard to get through, However everyone should
read this book as The fact that people can be so cruel to the children they should
love and cherish invokes rage towards these parents who should have been
looking out for their children and not the ones who neglected and tortured them.
What made these stories sadder than they needed to be is that either people
knew about the abuse and did nothing to stop it either directly or by reporting it,
and many people reported the abuse and the system failed. It is absolutely
shocking what these poor children went through
ABUSED TO DEATH 2. is just as shocking with the details of torture and death of
8 children (ages 2-13) by either a parent or both their parents. Jessica submits
the actions of the adults involved, and sometimes touches upon some short,
traumatic history of the parents/caregivers if their childhood experiences
included cruelty, and violence.
It is incredibly sad that even today with everyone being alerted to these
tragedies on the news, people still do not feel children should be listened to and
have a voice. In this book there are plenty of warning signs that not only you
will hear from the victims but also the research Jessica has done when writing
this book.
We must all be more vigilant. Well, done Jessica, this is a moving and much
needed subject that needs to be brought to the attention of everybody. This is a
book that should be read by everyone with or without children and put into all
communities where children live and help everyone to become educated and to
learn the signs to make us all more aware of these vulnerable young people who
we bring into this world and deserve to be treated fairly and humanly as children
should be.

To the author Jessica how much I admire your stand on writing about children
who are neglected, abused, and killed by family members. An awfully hard
subject to write about but beautifully written and the pictures of each child in
happier times was a lovely touch and a great way for us all to remember them
by.

Amazing and sad at the same time it blows my mind at the abuse some children go through but it's beautifully written and after each short story it gives a biography of the true event and also explains the legal process that occurred. It opened my eyes to a lot that is wrong with the system. I remember one short story stated that the abusive parents only got a couple of years jail time because although they locker their child in a crate starved and beat him, etc. They never actually truly intended to kill him. When someone premeditated murder, they can get life in prison, but with child abuse it's not that simple because most of the time it can't be proven that the abuse was a means to death. Child abuse cannot result in a life sentence because unfortunately it's hard to prove the available parents wanted the child to die. So basically abusing a child for years and years is not nearly as extreme, as far as jail time is concerned, as walking up and shooting some one. When you walk up and shoot someone you get a much larger sentence because you intended to kill them. Child abuse is a much lighter sentence because death being the end goal can't be proven

this second part of the three that I have purchased is even more difficult to comprehend. beautifully written by jessica jackson but at times really too hard to read. the horrific things these children have to endure is actually "indescribable". it also becomes clear that many of the perpetrators themselves have been victims at some point, but I cannot understand that you would also practice this horror on your own children or that you would allow this by your partner. fear or not. it is personally incomprehensible to me.
I am once again amazed at the amount of children this happens to and also glad that abuse of children is being made known and that something really needs to be done about it.

This book is a great follow up to book 1. These true stories are heartbreaking to read, but necessary in the fight to educate the public about child abuse and eradicate it as much as possible. I really appreciate how the first half of each story is written from the point of view of the child involved, or of someone who was close to them, and the second part of each story the more factual and legal aspects are presented. It is frustrating and heartbreaking to read how the signs that each child was being abused was there for all to see, yet nothing was really done to save the child from more harsh abuse, and then death. This author has a true gift.

Have your tissues close while reading. My heart was breaking as I read these stories about what happened to these poor little darlings. Ms. Jackson dealt with the subject matter with sensitivity and compassion. I liked the way the author explained the facts of each case. It is well written and well researched book that makes the reader realize how bad things can be in the real world. This book will stay with you long after you read the final page. I would highly recommend it. I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

another big hit

Once again Jessica Jackson keeps you reading. This is a very difficult subject to write about but once again the author keeps your interest until the very end. I can see the terror on the face of the child that was pulled off a fence and sent back home with his murderer. This book again reminds us how serious child abuse is . Not only should we be aware but we must take action!!

This collection of tragedies took me on a heartbreaking and emotional roller coaster. Keep your tissue box handy. Jessica Jackson just KNOWS how to convey the details and elements of stories in such a way that they penetrate into the deepest recesses of your heart and permeate throughout your very soul. These stories will stay with you for a long time.

Very well written these. People we,think that are monsters are not, they are just cowards that can’t pick on anyone their size,so they take it out on kids,I have never cried so much it’s a good job there are no guns in this country,I think I would have been up for murder,I hope when they die it’s a long slow agonising death face turning blue somebody just, standing looking wondering what they want them ti do,or even roast in hell I am sure they will be punished.

Heartbreaking

5 stars for the telling of each angels horrific death, again Jessica has given each a voice and told their story in a sympathetic manner. How anyone could do these things to a child is beyond me, however, it makes me realise that we need to be more vigilant when something does not feel right.

Thank you Jessica and God bless those angels, may they be at peace and few from pain x

Abused to Death 2 should be required reading.

This is not a book for the faint hearted, nor is this a book to while away the time. If you choose to open the pages be prepared to read about heartbreak and horror.
I have just finished the first story and have to say that I have never read a story told with such compassion.

Once again, handling the harrowing subject matter with skill and care. These stories, while distressing, need to be told and the children remembered. After reading the book, it would be easy to be overwhelmed by feelings of helplessness. Remember the words from the introduction - Assume nothing; Be vigilant; Check everything; Do something.
An excellent if upsetting read.

sad, so very sad

These are appalling events against children and the last one in this book, PJ, beggars belief. Truly appalling but why does it keep happening? How can anyone hurt a child so much that they die? Well written. This is not written to thrill or titillate, but is factual and accurate. Very good but very shocking too.

Wow

Amazes me some of these parents were set free!! Are u kidding me? Those judges have to be judged one day, and everyone involved who "overlooked" these poor children! God rest their souls!! This book was hard to read yes because I could never imagine seeing these things or putting a child threw these things but they are TRUE STORIES so that is what keeps me reading .

While life goes on around us, there are children living a nightmare, every day. Until it ends, sadly, quietly, in death. Jessica's Abused to Death series gives a heartbreaking look into the life, and death, of some of these children.

As difficult as I find these books to read, I can't seem to put them down! Heartbreaking but a must read. To me books like these ensure these poor babies still have a voice after death. I hope that people who read these books are more clued up on how to spot the signs.

Jessica jackson is a true crime writer who journeys into some of the most horrific abuse crimes ever told. Those of children who for the most part cannot defend themselves from their perpetrators...their parents.

Buckle your seatbelts, this is a bumpy ride

The stories in this volume are beyond heart-breaking. They are heart-shredding. Apparently these child-murderers are somehow walking around without hearts. Their only remorse is for themselves when they have to pay for their evil.

The victims range from two years of age to thirteen years of age. What kind of bad behavior can a two-year-old get up to that carries a death penalty? These are not just abused children, which is horrific enough. These are dead children, beautiful children who were tortured until they died.

Animals who eat their young are better parents than these human monsters.
