In a city at peace, balance means war. Freshly certified for forensics, Alan is ready to do something meaningful with his photography. He’s teamed up with his friend Jessie on the police force, and not a moment too soon. A serial killer seems to be copying the infamous Metro Ghoul. Lives hang in the balance, and the killer may be more than the police can handle without some help from the shadows.
Full of adventure and witty dialogue, this part of Alan and Blots' story had me on the edge of my seat. Will Alan's unwavering sense of right sway Blot, or will Blot's training influence Alan's moral compass? These two get into more crazy situations and manage to get themselves involved with a host of supernatural beings. There are a few life lessons sprinkled into the dark adventure and a few peaceful moments in between. Well written, with complex characters and endless plot twists.
I really enjoyed reading this third book in the series. I was a little worried that it would be more of the ‘Blot’s people versus Alan’s people’ but, sensibly, the author gave us a break from that and has Alan, newly working with the police, trying to track down the ‘Metro Ghoul’. Obviously, this is not a normal police case, and Alan and Blot are the type of pair needed to work out what is happening. Oh, it’s difficult to say much without spoilers! Suffice to say that there are some very cool chickens.
