Kaden was groomed to be tough, take whatever was thrown his way, to bury his feelings.
When a woman stepped into his life, one glance and he was gone. Like every other man in the room.
He won his woman, but the time they spent together would prove to be the worst of his life.
Gracie-May was married to Ben - a returned Vet who'd had his leg blown apart in a battle.
He was a drunkard, abusive and bitter about life.
When Kaden returned from war, broken and battered on Anzac Day - 25th April 2002, Gracie-May, the charge nurse on duty, found herself instantly drawn to him.
Could Gracie-May and Kaden be each others' saviors or is the past too hard to overcome?

Aleisha Maree knew she was going to write... well, since forever.
As soon as she could read, she wanted to be that escape for others.
Words pulled her in and held her tight in a world that captivated your soul and took you on a journey.
She crafts sensual, sexy, tantalizing stories that weave together her love for darkness, pure passion, and most of all human emotions which dance on the cusp of your soul.
She's from the South Island of New Zealand born and raised in a tiny but extraordinary village called Wakefield which holds so much more than her heart.
She now lives in the North Island of New Zealand in another village called Wharepapa South with her husband and 6 kids on a dairy farm.
When she's not consumed by those beautiful humans, she's knee-deep in writing, working on another work of art to captivate your soul and mind. To take you to the edge and back again.
She's a dark soul and introvert who loves nature and water, is insanely in love with coffee and reading.
She can always be found with her family with a book in her handbag and the wind in her hair.
Just keep an eye out for all the loud crazy kids, and she will be like right there!

Kaden and Gracie- May take you heartbreaking intense read. With so many emotions and feelings and a heartbreaking past for Kaden and a more than heartbreaking in the present for Gracie. These two meet in a unique situation in a Army hospital that Kaden is at to heal from war and Garcie a nurse trying to help him heal. Will they be able to see past each others past and present situation to bring them to what they want the most?

This is the second book in this new series I have read and I can't wait to read more. This is Gracie-May and Kaden's story. Both are broken from past relationships that have gone bad due to alcoholism.

Lieutenant Kaden James is seriously injured in the war. He has been through so much too and it ends up being a lot more than we first suspect.

Gracie-May is the head nurse in the infirmary he gets placed. She has a husband with demon's of his own, he is a former soldier that was seriously injured in combat and likes to spend his days drinking, he also doesn't think twice about taking his pain out physically and mentally on his wife.

I can't wait for the rest of the story in April (Calendar Gals) releasing in May.

I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.

Kaden is an army lieutenant who was badly injured by an IED. He was rushed off to a military hospital where he was put into a coma so that his body could repair itself. He is dealing with a lot internally during this time, and while his body is healing and repairing itself, his mind is still all kinds of messed up.

Gracie-May is the senior hospital nurse who is in charge of the care for Kaden. She is in an abusive relationship with her husband. He is ex military. He was badly injured and has turned into an angry, abusive drunk. She mourns the relationship that they once shared and waits for the day when he will take her away from this world.

With the pain and anguish that Gracie-May sees in Kaden, she begins to feel linked to him. They have both experienced something that has affected them so deeply and changed them in ways that even they don't understand. But how can they be together when Kaden can't let go of his past, and she is already attached?

“Gracie-May is going to tear down your walls and blow apart your life. She will tame that beast within you. I see it in her eyes, the way she looks at you.”

April- is the fourth book in the Calendar Men Series by Aleisha Maree. This series is a collaboration by 12 authors who each contribute a story for their designated month. April is Aleisha Maree’s addition to the series.
The story is a heart-wrenching wounded warrior story, with a second-chance romance element to it too. There are some sensitive topics that are part of the storyline- such as abuse (physical, mental, emotional, domestic, and substance), war (the horror’s that soldiers endure in service to their country), being wounded (pain and suffering), rehabilitation, alcoholic tendencies, suicide, and violence. But these are not used gratuitously- Aleisha Maree handles them all quite honestly, yet with much sensitivity.
There were very emotive moments, sad and depressing parts which made my heart ache for the characters. Aleisha Maree has a knack for writing very realistic and believable scenes, grabbing your heartstrings along the way.
The story has some flashbacks, and journal entries added to it- which helps to build the backstory and give us a better understanding of the character/s and situation.
I love Gracie-May and Kaden, and found myself rooting for them right from the beginning. They are wonderful characters who are fully realised individuals, which I didn’t expect from such a short novella. But their personalities shone through- and I fell under their spell.
I can’t wait to continue their story in April: Calendar Gals, due out on the 14th of May! Kaden and Gracie-May (and I) need a HEA!

Thank you, Aleisha Maree!

3 1/2 stars

Lieutenant Kaden James is seriously injured in the war. Sister Gracie-May is the one who helps to bring him back from the dead basically and a special bond is created.

Gracie-May is a compassionate and competent nurse who is excellent at her job but in her personal life accepts an untenable situation which seems at odds with her professional persona. However lots of people have two different sides, it’s hard to accept though as her character is one you like quite easily and hate her domestic life but can’t understand why she puts up with it? I suppose that could be the intent of the author, to make us query and think about it? I certainly do want to read the next story to find out what happens.

Kaden has been through so much too and it ends up being a lot more than we first suspect. His character is interesting, I have to say I like him but he didn’t grab my attention as much as Gracie-May.

I am giving this story 3 1/2 stars because it is extremely sad and a bit depressing at times. The ending is uplifting though and it the storyline is good. Perhaps for me it’s just a bit too real, I might just be too shallow as well?

Kadens life growing up had been anything but easy, and then he met Ari and his life took on some meaning but what Kaden didn't fully realise was his new bride Ari's demons were more than even a man like Kaden could fix. So when his life took a devastating turn he threw his career as a police officer away and joined the army and threw himself into an unspoken personal suicide mission to escape, then after a roadside bomb attack on his humvee left him in hospital in a drug induced coma, he found a new reason to fight and her name is Gracie-May.

Gracie-May also has a husband with demon's of his own, he is a former soldier that was seriously injured in combat and likes to spend his days drinking, he also doesn't think twice about taking his pain out physically and mentally on his wife so Gracie-May throws herself self into her work and in the healing of others.

Can these two broken souls help to heal each other or will their insecurities and personal demons hold them back?? Well I suppose you're just going to have to read their story to find out.....

Two broken, battered, tortured souls meet under horrific circumstances. Can each manage to find themselves long enough to find each other? This book was so spellbinding I couldn't put it down, and I certainly wanted more.
This is a tissue needed reading, and it will be hard waiting until May to see what happens and where Gracie May's story leads her and Kaden both. If war and its results are a trigger for you, stay away. Like so many of Aleisha Maree's books , this one is realistic and has PTSD triggers. I look forward to more in this series.

Wow so good. I loved this story about Kaden a gorgeous ex police officer/ war hero and Gracie Mae head nurse in the infirmary he gets placed. Both are broken from past relationships that have gone bad due to alcoholism and it gives them a pull towards one another they can’t deny.

I absolutely love how these to broken souls found each other and got a chance at something beautiful. It’s an absolute heart warming story that you can’t put down once you start. Must read
