Presents a transformative path from illness to true health and well-being by removing the barriers that block our own healing energy.
Alchemy is the science of transformation—how to change one thing into something else. In The Alchemy of Inner Work, Dechar and Fox examine how illness, suffering, and dis-ease—the “lead” of our lives—can become the “gold” of our authentic selves, and the key to good health and well-being.
Drawing on traditional Chinese medicine, Eastern and Western alchemical traditions, Kabbalah, and Jungian psychology—plus case studies from working with patients—the authors provide hands-on insights for bringing “the soul of medicine” back into our lives.
The book includes:
A simple introduction to the ancient practices and principles alchemy How the alchemical model offers a profoundly new path to true health and well-being An array of practices for removing the barriers that block our own healing energy An invitation to alchemical “dream work” as a support on the path of healing
The Alchemy of Inner Work shares with the reader a practical approach to the art of inner alchemy. This book has information that readers might need to understand the process on an intellectual level. However the “gold” of this book is NOT in sharing knowledge but in sharing wisdom that has been won through years of applying information in practice. Wisdom won through years of working through the information on a practical level and learning with each individual client and community member Lorie or Benjamin had an opportunity to help. Through years of understanding what really works and what does not.
There is insight here, and a raw, honest account of practice and private life that, both Lorie and Benjamin, are sharing openly. This private story is intertwined with the practical approach to healing arts, which is so refreshing, uplifting and inspiring. In each chapter we get their wisdom won through years of studies, but most importantly, of years of practical application that we can now start applying in our own lives.
It's not yet another book that you read and put back on a shelf. You don't read this book, you practice it.
so far I am finding it very good, I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the power and energy of alchemy and the alchemical healing approach. I have been a lifelong student of alchemy, more in tune with Jung and the collective mythology. I have no problem in adding some of the exercises to my own affirmations, my own alchemy work is different and divergent, but it naturally has to follow the concepts of the alchemical tradition.
The alchemist is always looking for change. We all start with salt and we see where we end up. This book adds other layer to it, the body. I found the book interesting.
