I always wish Jake Kerr's books were longer than they are. This book is no different. I read the book in less than afternoon and wanted to read more.

To be fair, I did have little trouble getting into this book. The problem was that I initially thought it was non-fiction and a departure from the author's usual genre. Once I figured out what was going on, I decided to start reading it over again. I was glad I did.

The book, is melancholy and bittersweet with touches of humor. The book is in two parts and both are interesting for different reasons but both sections are gripping. The characters seem to be real, down to earth people that you wouldn't expect to find in this type of novel.

This Apocalypse Triptych shares the story of before, during, and after an asteroid hits planet earth; causing half its inhabitants to perish.

Kerr creates a world needing a deciding process of who lives and dies and the impact it takes on humanity and those who survive.

It is a short one hour read, that will have you glued to its pages.

The rating reflects my wish that sections of the triptych would have been named. Having it in one continuous chapter, without any section breaks, created some confusion. Gratefully the editor cleared this up in his final notes about writing this book.
