It is a short stories collection of Edogawa Rampo's stories retelling. The author came up with interesting ideas to retell these classical Rampo's tales of obsession and crime, and giving them new meanings in a more modern backdrop of the 21st century Japanese society.

The author did a good job in matching her wit with the source material and proves herself almost going shoulder to shoulder with the master novelist Rampo himself. Good for her!

(1) The retelling of 'The Beast of Shades' is so tricky and brilliant! I really appreciate the plot twist that the beautiful woman was once a man in the past and that's why she managed to figure out who the real blackmailer was.

(2) The retelling of 'The Man Who Travels With A Painting' is a bit of a mixed bag, but the idea was still refreshing.

(3) The family drama in the retelling of 'The Appearance of Osei' is pretty interesting.

(4) The retelling of the Red Room is...a bit less grand and clever, but the ideas are fresh and the outcome in the end is laced with a fine touch of irony.

▍#dの殺人事件まことに恐ろしきは

其實我是不太喜歡看短篇故事，但之前讀到歌野晶午作家的《葉桜の季節に君を想うということ》完全有被痛痛快快騙了一場的快感，印象非常深刻🥺
而這本書也太、好、看了吧‪‪.ᐟ.ᐟ和我沒看過的江戶川亂步作品似乎有關聯，但是也完全不會影響到劇情。

雖然篇幅不長，但非常容易讓人入戲的描寫，融合了現在科技發達的背景和推理的七篇故事，有的看完後還感到背脊發涼💦明明是短篇還是讓我被一再轉折的情節騙了好幾次😭這本書我真的愛了。
