Installing Karma: A Wuxia VRMMO LitRPG

Rate this book
An action-comedy VRMMO LitRPG with a setting inspired by Wuxia and Xianxia stories and a hero that might have a few screws loose.

The early reviews of Karma were insane. Some people emptied their bank accounts to purchase the required VR equipment. Others took the week Karma was set to release off from work. Tim Roberts took things a step further. He hadn’t been able to secure one of the coveted slots in the beta, so instead, he started to train IRL.

He hunted rats in the sewers, secretly escorted beautiful ladies down the street, chased down purse snatchers and pickpockets, and when the police refused to reward him, he thrust out a hand and shouted, “Fireball.” Nothing would stop Tim from seeing his dream of becoming a pro gamer come true.

When he first enters the game, Tim is horrified. With experience boosts, loot increases, stat-boosting talismans, overpowered AOE damage scrolls, time-saving fast travel, and instant resurrection, the monetization schemes seem endless. To the wealthy who can afford all these conveniences, the world of Karma is theirs to lord over. To everyone else, it’s a struggle to achieve anything.

Tim won’t be having any of that. Forget pay-to-win. He’s going to make all those scumbags pay-to-lose. He’s going to give them a taste of karma.

DNF’d at 3%. Pretty early, but I couldn’t get on with the characters, particularly the main character. Think he was supposed to come off as charming, but he was just creepy.

Great book!

I love this concept! Pay to win games are the worst. This story was very smooth an easy to picture. Can't wait for the next book!
