I had it all. The perfect fairytale life I’d planned since the day I set foot on my college campus was on course. Meet a guy, fall in love, get engaged, graduate college together, have a dream wedding, and start a successful career.
Then it all came crashing down. Turns out life had different plans.
Now, I’m a single, middle-aged workaholic who spends more time in an airport than in my own home. I do have a successful career, but it’s come at the expense of finding love. I’ve been holding on to a flicker of hope that I’ll still find my Prince Charming someday, but time’s running out.
Just when I think all hope is lost, a chance meeting reignites that flame. Will I finally get my happily ever after, or will fate step in once again?
This standalone novel follows Clara’s story from college to mid-life. A sweet, inspirational story about finding love when you least expect it.
K. Leah grew up in the South and likes her tea sweet and coffee strong. Faith and family are what matter most, and she wears many hats, including being a children’s pastor’s wife, travel volleyball mom, and full-time marketing coordinator.
She lives in North Carolina with her husband and three children. When she’s not working or driving her daughter to volleyball, you’ll likely find her reading or listening to a book.
This was a super sweet and clean love story! I loved reading it, and can’t wait to see what’s next. There were a few things that slowed my reading down at first, but nothing I couldn’t get past. If you like your stories on the sweeter side, this book is for you. It reminded me so much of what a hallmark movie would look like, which I loved.
What is supposed to be a college sweetheart love story, devastatingly ends in disaster. To avoid the chance at heartbreak, Clara immerses herself in work, becoming a middle-aged workaholic. Now, when she least expects it, love comes knocking at the door of her favorite coffee shop. Though she is guarded at first, Clara finds herself quickly falling in love with investment banker, Brady. Now for the second time in her life, Clara's love and devotion are put to the test. Will she and Brady be able to overcome an unexpected tragedy, or will Clara again find herself alone?
Like a breath of fresh air, this romance reminds me of a Debbie Macomber/Karen Kingsbury/Hallmark movie all rolled into one. I breezed through this one, thoroughly enjoying Clara's journey to find love. What I had originally anticipated to be a love triangle story, ended up being a story of two people's love being put to the test in times of hardship, which was a welcome surprise. The unexpected turn that took place left me unable to put this one down until I knew the outcome. Then, just when I thought there were no more surprises, the last sentence happened.
This is a "feel good" read for anyone needing a pick me up. It will restore your faith in love.
So...this book was a rollercoaster of emotions, y'all. And as I'm writing this review, I don't know how I'm going to share my thoughts without spoiling anything. 😭🙈 I'll do my best though.
Starting off, you should know that the book is divided into three sections. The first section made me swoon left and right, but then it was just heart-wrenching. The second section made me a little wary, but then I was swooning all over again. And finally the third section had a total blow in it, but then everything was okay just like it should be.
See? Rollercoaster. Of. Emotions.
As far as content goes: CLEAN! 💕
Like others have said in their reviews, 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐚𝐲 did remind me of a Hallmark movie/or a clean chick-flick...however, I feel like the book was more similiar to older Hallmark movies (more drama, more kissing, etc.) than recent ones.
If you're looking for a sweet romance about second chances, with a few unexpected turns, then this book should definitely be on your TBR! 😊
I must say, you would never know that this was K. Leah's debut novel. I fell so in love with this story about second chances. Clara May Willet lost her soul mate Drew, with no closure. As I read this story I kept waiting for Clara and Drew to somehow make it back to one another., but then she meets Brady. Brady Reese has dealt with hurt and pain for 10 years and thought he could never love again. They have both given up on love until the meet each other in a small cafe'. This story had me smiling, crying and rooting for that second chance at love. Never give up on that one true love. K. Leah is definitely an author to be watched!!
First, I want to thank K. Leah for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
Holding on to Someday by K. Leah is a must-read book for 2019 for all that still believe in love. This is an incredible love story with two incredible twists. Twists that I didn’t even see coming that shocked me.
Kudos to the graphic designer on this book. The cover was absolutely beautiful.
The inspiration of this book came from a dear friend of K. Leah’s. She hope’s she finds her true love someday.
From the very beginning of the book K. Leah hooks me into the story with the incredible story of how Clara and Drew became a couple. Every girl in high school would dream of this happening to them. At least I did when I was her age.
What really made me smile in this whole book was seeing the character named Brady Reese. That is my 7-year-old nephew’s name. However, I don’t think he was a ginger with blue eyes. Besides the fact that he had my nephew’s name.
There is a twist in the book that even I did not see coming!! I was totally shocked by it actually!! My heart ached for Brady during this scene. K. Leah did an incredible job pulling on my heart strings hard with this one.
I laughed when she thought “Oh. Mylanta!” Being a huge fan of Fuller House I got the reference.
Seriously, who doesn’t like pizza?! I was shocked by the fact Clara didn’t like pizza!
I totally loved the fact that Clara said she looked like Kelly Taylor from the TV show 90210! I was a huge fan of that show.
This book leaves you with a very interesting ending how life comes full circle. I would say it was more of a cliffhanger. It sure had me asking a lot of questions and wanting to know answers about. I am hoping one day K. Leah writes that book.
This was my first book by K. Leah and it was a very sweet read! It reminded me of a very cute chick-flick. Her writing style was easy to get into. As I’ll mention below, the first part of the book was a bit slower for me. For some reason, I felt like the style in writing picked up after the first section. Either way, I ended up loving the story. To be honest, it took me a short while to really get into the book. It could have just been my mood, but the first little part of the book was a little slower for me. However, when I reached part 2 I started flying through. I couldn’t put it down as I really got attached to the characters! Character / World Building: ***Will contain spoilers so don’t read this section if you don’t want to be spoiled!!*** So I think the reason the first part was a bit slower for me was because Clara actually doesn’t end up with the first boy. It was a sweet first love, but there was something missing from it. When you get to the end, you understand why it felt like something was missing. They just weren’t meant to be! But I adored Clara. I actually related to her on multiple levels. And when she meets her man, I just melted. I wanted her to get her happy ending so badly so when she did, I celebrated with her! And it’s safe to say I quickly fell in love with Brady!! He was ever so dreamy <3 This is a clean read so it is safe for all eyes to read!! I really appreciated the messages it held with moral standards. It wasn’t pushed so much, but it was just enough to make its point. And as much as it was a sweet story, it did hold bits of suspense and shock. I’ll look forward to reading Leah’s next book coming out soon!

I would have never known that this was K. Leah's first book! Due to time restrictions, I unfortunately don't get to read as much as I would like, but I learned about this one and decided to give it a go. It had me hooked from the very beginning. I found myself becoming captivated in the character's lives and stories. Plus, being from the areas mentioned throughout the book, it was easy for me to relate to their story even more! It was a fantastic read that I didn't have to make a long time commitment to in order finish it. I was able to complete it in 3 days! Perfect!! I look forward to reading more from K. Leah!
An amazing debut novel from author K. Leah. A heartfelt, heartwarming story that would make a fantastic Hallmark movie! Clara and Brady are a sweet couple you can't help but cheer for.
I liked this sweet romance, although it was hard for me to get into at first. Was it meant to be women's fiction?
The first part of the book started off with the heroine as a young college student who falls in love with a classmate. The relationship ends in part one. The end of this relationship explains why she becomes a workaholic who remains unmarried at the age of 38.
The second part begins with the relationship in midlife which leads to her happily ever after. We see the struggles she and her partner must surmount in order to be together.
At the end, we see what happened with the college boyfriend, but it felt tossed in. He hadn't had a role in the story except at the very beginning, and it wasn't a second chances romance. It would have been great if there had been some closure, with the two of them coming face to face.
What an amazing story! One of the biggest reasons I loved it so much, was it definitely didn't go in the expected direction I had initially thought it would. This was my first book from this author, and I wasn't disappointed in the least. The writing was phenomenal, the characters were amazing. The storyline was great, like I said before wasn't what I initially thought it would be, and I can't say much more without giving spoilers. All I will say, is read this and you won't be disappointed!
This has by far been the best romance book I have ever read!! I normally don't read romance books, but this book had me glued within the first couple of pages of reading.. Yes I did read it in a day, thats because i couldn't put it down! Looking forward to reading more from you K. Leah!! That ending though got me feeling soms type of way only because I want to read more!!
This was such a sweet read! The slow-burn/buildup of a new relationship is something that not very many romance books do very well- but this one has it! It captures that new excitement of a relationship, the newness of them as a couple; that's something I've missed reading and I didn't even know it until I read this book. I'm trying to not spoil the story ;) but K. Leah does a great job of creating the heartache and hope of relationships and the Holding on to Someday.
What a sweet story about finding love when you least expect it! So many of us can relate to Clara’s resignation to never find love after loss, but there is always hope! Sometimes things don’t work out the way we plan, but sometimes it’s not our plan that’s meant to work anyway! I loved Clara’s growth, and the happiness in these characters. I can’t wait for K. Leah’s next book!
It’s taken me a bit of time writing this because I want to make sure I reflect this book to the full extent. Talk about heartbreak and bombshells. I was crying a fourth of the way into this book. Then part two rolls around and my heart is still broken for Clara. It’s not until halfway through part two my heart starts mending and I’ve got googley eyes for Brady (LOL). This book far exceeded my expectations. It’s a new way to write romance. It shows that you can have more than one great love and that things always happen for a reason. The reason being Brady Reese! 😍 the deep soul connection between Clara and him is so evident and it makes me wish there were more to this story. Yes, it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would, and I’m so glad it didn’t. TOTAL SWOON. ❤️ amazing work, K. Leah.

This book is probably my new favorite. I can relate to the main character so well. I am 40, never been married, waiting for my someday. I couldn't put it down. Loved it, will probably read it again and will purchase more books from this author.
It was like reading 2 books in 1. I was waiting for drew to come back into her life the whole time she was with Brady. I like the characters and story but was alittle disappointed.
Such a sweet, clean love story from a first time author. Looking forward to reading more from K. Leah in the future. Hoping Dreamy Drew gets his own story too.
I loved the story. The love story is tender, wholesome and uplifting. Clara’s someday did come. The p.c. let us know how everything can change in an instant.
Clara Willet- single, no kids, workaholic and lost hope finding her soulmate, she thought she will be married with kids at this time on her life but her destiny had something else planned, something she never thought. “Tomorrow is never guaranteed, “I have found life is sweeter when you live in the moment. Cherish the times you have with the ones you love and be thankful for second chances” Sometimes you need to experience pain, tears, heartbroken and try to heal all at once until your someday begins and you will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Clara and Brady had to go thru all bad moments to build good moments together when you ready to give up, the magic starts to mend your soul. Brady experience the worst to lose someone close, he thought he would never will find the piece he once lost. “But now finally they have the someday they both dreamed “
I really enjoyed this book! It was my first book by this author and I wouldn't hesitate to read another. I liked reading about Clara's college romance and then seeing her go through her adult life. I loved her friend! There was a twist at the end that I didn't see coming. If you like clean, contemporary romance, I highly recommend this book!
This book kept me on a roller coaster, just like real life. I was truly upset at the end of part one, elated at the end of part two, and mad/sad at the end of part three.
