A mighty bloodline will fall. A beloved king will sing his final song.
Every dawn, beloved Sage-King Lairdos sings aloft the highest battlements to his people - a testimony of the grace and power of the High House Ascaerii. Under his oversight, only the season of summer has ever reigned.
When all the Sages receive a harrowing call from a long-fallen throne to bend the knee, for the first time since the First Age, the survival of the Ascaerii line looms unclear.
A sun will darken beneath eternal storms. A king will sing his final song. A world will weep for the last Ascaerii.

Jasmine Young is the nobledark fantasy author of over 15 titles to date.
When she was thirteen, she first dreamed of becoming published after devouring Eragon in a few days on Grandma's couch. As a once painfully anxious introvert, her exposure to fantasy started with hiding out in the library with a great book.
Thirteen years later, her tomboy dreams came true.
Today, she is known worldwide as a part time hermit and a full time rebel. She is also the proud mother of birds. The family currently lounges in Florida.
When she’s not reminiscing about her gaming days or getting lost in old epics like LOTR, Jasmine writes a blend of epic, romantic, and dark fantasy to entertain and empower, especially the underdogs.

"The Morrow Fall" by Jasmine Young follows Lairdos Ascaerii, king and soon-to-be father. Lairdos is immediately likeable, probably because Young is so talented at writing the close 3rd-person point of view. I truly enjoyed getting to know his joyful kingdom and his almost-frantic thoughts, and I mourned with him as trials came against his people's peace. This story is not a happy one, but it reads as essential backstory to enter the Four Kingdoms, an epic trilogy that will be complete within the next year!
Given how much I enjoyed Young's other series starter "A Breaking of Realms," I think I will be reading much more of this author. If you are looking for noblebright epic fantasy with thoroughly thought-out history, deep characterization and strong character voice, and interesting magical beings and magic systems, you should read Young's books.
This is an intro to the characters and how things became in the further books. How where Prince Valentinos adventure begins. Lots of darkness and intense moments. Great short story.
