The Dream Walkers

Rate this book
When his parents leave for work one day and never come back, Emery's search for answers leads him to discover his ability to Dream Walk. He is able to travel from Earth to another world through his dreams. The dream world, Wyrta, is full of bizarre creatures, people that look part-tree, and a desert kingdom on the brink of war. But unlike normal dreams, this world is very real.

A mysterious man that seems to always show up when Emery is in need tells him his parents perished in a battle that Emery has trouble comprehending. Then he tells Emery something he long thought to be a fairytale told to misbehaving children.

The man tells Emery the Bane War, a widely debated topic that’s branded as a myth by the religious sects, actually happened. A portal was opened and monstrous, lizard-like creatures called Tekkas came through from Wyrta, decimating the human population and sending them back to swords and crossbows instead of guided missiles and nuclear warfare.

Thousands of years later, the Tekkas are rebuilding the portal with the aid of a powerful sorcerer. Emery must join an exiled prince, a Lythari elf whose prickly demeanor is sharper than her wolven fangs, and a merry doctor who will sing a song about the name of the bone he's breaking. Together, they must stop the Tekkas from finishing what they started, and prevent a multi-world war from devastating both Earth and Wyrta.

"Dream Walkers" is set in a post apocalyptic world, where strange creatures from another world waged war on mankind and decreased the population of 9 billion to 4 million. The protagonist is Emery who was orphaned a few years back and is now  living with his best friend Jason's family. While on an errand he has an encounter with a mysterious and strange man who tells Emery that he is a Dream Walker i.e he can travel from Earth to another world in his sleep. This stranger claims that he knew Emery's   parents and reveals some hidden truths about their deaths . so the quest to find Emery's parents killer begins.  But it won't be as simple has he may have thought .
The writing is easy to follow and yet sophisticated. Its a fine book and very entertaining. The world building is mediocre.

The Dream Walkers is the authors debut novel & WOW!- I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Colorful & enchanting characters keep you wanting more & it was difficult to lay the book down. Well written and the authors style of writing makes the story easy to follow. There are multiple instances of past events to lay foundation, then the story easily transforms back to the present. Many of the characters could ‘shift’ into other creatures & I found this fascinating & interesting. Hands down one of the best fantasy books I have read!
